2. day Sulz / Glatt ca. 52 km Directly from the source of the Neckar at the watershed between the Rhine and the Danube you will cycle through a dreamy and romantic landscape to the free imperial city of Rottweil, known for its splendid city ensemble. Stroll between decorated town houses, fountains and old facades, before you swing yourself back on the Bike. Marvel in the beautiful Neckar valley over stately castle ruins on the young river. Overnight in Sulz or Glatt. 3. day Tübingen 48 / 57 km Look forward to the fun-loving Swabian university town of Tübingen with its considerable "student density". There is plenty to explore: Bebenhausen Castle, Hohentübingen Castle, the Hölderlinturm, cozy half-timbered houses in narrow streets and quaint student pubs. 4. day Esslingen 54 km Today you will experience a charming landscape, because the Neckar leads you on beautiful bike paths through gardens and small towns. Surrounded by vines, you cycle to the pearls of the Neckar: Besigheim with the famous Enzpartie, Lauffen, birthplace of Hölderlin, and the seedling town of Heilbronn. Round off your wonderful day with a stroll through the old town and admire the Gothic Kilianskirche and the town hall, which is one of the most beautiful in Germany. 7. day Eberbach 56 km A day of castles! In the morning you cycle over the castle road to Neckarsulm, where the German Bicycle Museum is waiting. Let yourself be impressed by the splendid city silhouette of Bad Wimpfen, visit Burg Guttenberg with a ornithological station and marvel at Burg Hornberg, where Götz von Berlichingen lived. Past Zwingenberg Castle you will roll into the old city of Staufer Eberbach. 8. day Heidelberg 34 It will be spectacular today! The Neckar winds its way romantically through the ridges of the Odenwald. We recommend to take a taxi from the station to get to our partner hotels. Current schedule information and price information can be found at: www.bahn.de. Train schedule information Parking facilities at the hotel Public car park approx. 5 minutes walk from the main building (Hotel Mercure), per exit 6 euros. At the hotel the cost is about 13 euros per day. No matter how long it was parked there, you only pay per exit. Parking facilities of the other houses on request. Condition of cycle paths The route leads not always directly along the river, gentle grades cannot be avoided. However, short, steep hills are very rare. The route is well signposted, you cycle mostly on quiet country roads and bike paths. Short sections are on more travelled roads especially in cross-town links. Available rental bikes If you choose to rent a velocipede-rental bike for the tour, we take it to your first hotel and bring pick it up at your destination. You can choose between woman s and men's bicycles either with 7-speed gear shift and coaster brake or 21-speed gear shift and freewheel or electric bikes. All ladies' bikes have a low opening that makes mounting and dismounting much easier. The bikes are suitable for all ladies from 150 cm in height and for all gentlemen from 165 cm in height.
