Contract for SCN 2016 Summer Off-Ice Training Programs Contract Period June 20, 2016 September 2, 2016 Welcome Summer Skaters! May 19, 2016 The Skating Club of Novi is pleased to once again sponsor Figure Skating focused Off-Ice Training Programs this summer. The SCN believes Off-Ice training is a critical part of injury prevention, and the development of top level skaters. We believe in it so much that the SCN is subsidizing approximately 50% of the cost of this summer s program. Summers are filled with vacations, and other family events. Knowing this, SCN has priced the programs so that they are still an unbeatable value, even if you do not plan to, or cannot make it to every session. This year SCN has partnered with the Sports Club of Novi for the afternoon program, utilizing their trainers, facilities and equipment in a program designed solely for the Skate Club of Novi s skaters. Some of the classes will be held at the Sports Club s facility, and are denoted on the schedule as such. One of our older skaters, will be there to chaperone the skaters on the walk next door to the Sports Club. The SCN Off-Ice program allows the athlete to further their abilities as a skater by offering Strength and Conditioning classes which will cover Flexibility, Core Strength, Endurance and Power, as well as Dance. For the competitive figure skater, the off-ice training and conditioning program is an essential element in your successful competitive career. For the recreational or test skater, the off-ice training and conditioning program is an opportunity to participate in a variety of disciplines that will enhance your ice skating experience. The Skating Club of Novi and the Sports Club of Novi have excellent instructors in these areas. We sincerely hope that you take advantage of this unique opportunity!!! Let s have a great summer! 2016 Summer Off-Ice Training Program The Trainers Tameka Gallien: ACSM Certified, Certified Yoga Instructor An international personal trainer & yoga instructor has been featured in newspaper, television, and radio & Internet media. A former speed-skater, bodybuilder & National Physique Judge in NYC. She is an Extreme Sports advocate teaching fitness for snow, skate & wake-boarding activities. Her Passion is teaching functional training, fitness time management and specializing in family, couples, sports and group personal training for all ages. Bethany Hale: B.A. in Sports Performance and Fitness Entrepreneurship NASM Certified Personal Trainer at the Sports Club of Novi. Bethany works with athletes looking to improve their athletic performance by increasing their strength and flexibility. Bethany enjoys working with all ages and fitness levels to help them reach their goals. Nicolette Orlando: Nicolette is excited to return for her 3 rd Year teaching Jazz Dance at Novi. Nicolette has been a competitive figure skater for 8 years passing her senior moves, intermediate free dance and pre-gold dances. Nicolette will be a Senior at Northville High School, where she is the Captain of the UDA Award Winning Competitive Dance Team. She is also a competition dancer at Piazza Dance Company. She has extensive training in jazz, ballet, tap, lyrical, hip hop and modern. She has won many awards and top achievements in competitive dance including: 1 st place at the KAR National Competition, 3rd runner-up to Miss Teen Dance of Michigan, and runner-up to Miss Dance of Michigan. She won the title of Miss Nexstar with a lyrical solo. She has won top jazz technique and performance awards at Hall of Fame and Kids Artistic Review, as well as many scholarship awards from national dance competitions Combining her passion and talent for dancing and figure skating, she will help improve the musicality, fluidity, and transitions needed by your skater.
SKATING CLUB OF NOVI Waiver and Release of Liability, Assumption of Risk and Indemnity Agreement ( Agreement ) In consideration of participating in Skating Club of Novi activities, I represent that I understand the nature of figure skating and off-ice training activities ( activity ) and that I am qualified, in good health, and in proper physical condition to participate in such activity. I acknowledge that if I believe event conditions are unsafe, I will immediately discontinue participation in the activity. I fully understand that this activity involves risks of serious bodily injury, including permanent disability, paralysis and death, which may be caused by my own actions, or inactions, those of others participating in the activity, the conditions in which the activity takes place, or the negligence of the releasees named below; and that there may be other risks either not known to me or not readily foreseeable at this time; and I fully accept and assume all such risks and all responsibility for losses, costs, and damages I incur as a result of my participation in the activity. I hereby release, discharge, and covenant not to sue the Skating Club of Novi, United States Figure Skating, it s directors, officers, administrators, sponsors, volunteers, agents, employees, staff, instructors, trainers, other participants and if applicable, owners and lessors of premises on which the activity takes place (each considered one of the Releasees herein) from all liability, claims, demands, losses, or damages on my account caused or alleged to be caused in whole or in part by the negligence of the releasees or otherwise, including negligent rescue operations; and I further agree that if, despite this release, waiver of liability, and assumption of risk, I, or anyone on my behalf, makes a claim against any of the Releasees, I will indemnify, save, and hold harmless each of the releasees from any loss, liability, damage, or cost which any may incur as the result of such claim.
