Name First Annual New York Harbor Festival of Lights Holiday Boat Parade Description The First Annual New York Harbor Festival of Light, begins with a large boat parade around lower and West Manhattan, of over 50 vessels decorated with holiday lights and ornaments to help kick off the New York Holiday Season. The parade will be followed by a Waterside Holiday Festival at Chelsea Piers. Date/Time The first New York Harbor Festival of Light will take place on Saturday, 28 November at 6 pm, two days after the large Macy s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Parade Route The parade will begin in the East River at the South Street Seaport and continue around the tip of Manhattan, up the Hudson River to Pier 86, at the foot of West 46 th Street, the home of the Intrepid Sea*Air*Space Museum, and back to Chelsea Piers at West 23 rd Street and the Hudson River. The Mission of the is to strengthen awareness of the working harbor's history and vitality today, and its opportunities for the future, by involving people in learning how the harbor works and what it does, educating people in the rich and challenging history of the harbor and making people aware of the need to build and sustain the working harbor Funds will be used for: Parade expenses including planning, management, labor, promotion, insurance and legal expenses, signage and decorations for sponsors, and all other expenses. Sponsorship of WHC s high school educational programs for at-risk students.
