Defined. On the day of the Safety Competition, a Rules Committee comprised of the Head Judge, the Assistant Head Judge, and a member of the Board of Directors will be established to settle all disputes that cannot be settled at the Judge s level. B. Disputes. Disputes will be handled in the following manners: 1.Only the affected competitors may dispute the decision of the scoring judge(s). 2.Only the affected competitors may address any unresolved disputes of the scoring judge(s) to the Head Judge. 3. If the Head Judge is unable to resolve the affected competitors disputes, he will review the disputes with the Rules Committee. 4. The WPFGF makes the final decision. C. Conduct. Competitors who display or engage in unprofessional conduct as determined by the Board of Directors maybe ejected from the Safety Competition. The WPFGF makes the final decision. II. General Rules A. Police Motorcycle Riding 2019 - Page 2 The object of the competition is for the competitors to demonstrate their motorcycle skills with the fastest or slowest speed depending on the event. B. Eligibility. The Competition is open to all sworn law enforcement officers who are authorized by their agency to ride a police motorcycle. C. Motorcycle Requirements. 1. Motorbikes will be provided to the teams and competitors by the organizer or sponsors. 2. Each competitor must use the same motorcycle throughout the various events unless their original motorcycle becomes inoperable. If that occurs, they may use a second motorcycle within the same registered division for the remaining events. D. Competitor Attire. Competitors must wear their department s normal on-duty motorcycle riding uniform, including motorcycle helmet, gloves, boots and protective equipment during all riding phases of the Safety Competition without police weapons and equipment. E. Motorcycle Malfunctions. 1. In the event of a mechanical failure, the rider may be permitted one (1) re-run, at the discretion of the Head Judge and/or the Board. 2. Mechanical failure would include items such as a tire goes flat, drive train breaks, brake system failure, or any other major items that would deem the vehicle inoperable. 3. Mechanical failures do not include such items as, loose saddle bag, loose mirrors, kick stand springs, and other similar issues. In those cases, a rider may stop and address the issue at their discretion and any penalty points for violations (putting foot down while stopped) will be assessed and time will continue. III. Skill Levels and Divisions 1. There won t be divisions by age, gender or skill levels, only singles and teams. Page2of11
Police Motorcycle Riding 2019 - Page 3 2. If there are female athletes in the team, they will be divided to compete with male athletes together. IV. Individual Cone Course Competition A. Goal: The object of the Individual Cone Course Competition is for the competitor to traverse down the course designated by the Committee in the shortest time without penalty points. B. Penalties: 1. Any cone is contacted/knocked down + 5 seconds. 2. Running out of the course + 30 seconds. 3. If a competitor runs out of the course, he must get back to the start line and rerun following the designated course, or else he will be disqualified. C. Ranking: 1. The competitor with the shortest time and fewest penalty points wins. 2. When the same result occurs and the result is valid, an equal result is acceptable. F. Awards: First through third Place. V. Individual Slow Ride Competition A. Goal: The object of the Individual Slow Ride is for the competitor to traverse down a course designated by the Committee in the slowest speed without penalty points. B. Penalties: The competitor s time will stop and the result will be invalid if any of the following occur: 1. Puts their foot down Page3of11

Timing: Time starts when the competitor s entire front-tire contact patch is completely across the start line. Time ends when the competitor s entire rear-tire contact patch is completely across the finish line. Times will ONLY be recorded for runs without penalty points. If any foul occurs, time recording will end and the result will be invalid. D. Ranking: 1. The competitor with the slowest speed and fewest penalty points wins. 2. When the same result occurs and the result is valid, an equal result is acceptable. D. Awards: First through Third Place. VI.Team Cone Course Competition A. Definition: The object of the Team Cone Course Competition is for the competitor to traverse down the course designated by the Committee in the shortest time without penalty points. A team consists of four eligible competitors from the same agency or more than one agency. Only one team from each agency will be eligible for an award. B. Penalties: 1. Any cone is contacted/knocked down + 5 seconds. 2. Running out of the course + 30 seconds. 3. If a competitor runs out of the course, he must get back to the start line and rerun following the designated course, or else he will be disqualified. C.Timing: During the competition, the 4 competitors from one team line up and then start off. After the first person leaving, the rest of competitors can decide their start time by their own. The timing ends when the last competitor finishes the game. D. Ranking: 1. The competitor with the shortest time and fewest penalty points wins. Page4of11

Team Slow Ride Relay Competition A. Definition: A team consists of four eligible competitors from the same agency or more than one agency. The object of the team slow ride is for the four team riders to traverse a 2.5 meters wide by 10 meters long lane as slowly as possible. The longest combined times of all four riders from a team without penalty will determine the winner. Only one team from each agency will be eligible for an award. B. Penalties: The team s time will stop and team result will be invalid if any of the following occurs by any team member: 1. Feet down 2. Falls down from the motorcycle 3. Crosses a boundary line 4. Improper Rider Relay C. Timing: The time starts when the first team member s entire front-tire contact patch completely crosses the start line. The time ends when the fourth team member s entire rear-tire contact patch completely crosses the finish line. Times will ONLY be recorded for runs without penalty points. If any foul occurs, time recording will end and the result will be invalid. D. Rider Relay: 1. Team member one and three begin at the right side of the lane on the start line, and team member two and four begin on the right side of the lane on the finish line. 2. When the first team member s entire front-tire contact patch is about to exit from the lane, the second team member must raise their feet and enter the lane (entire front-tire contact patch is completely across the start line).both the entering and exiting team members must have their entire front-tire contact patch in the lane at the same time with their feet up in order to avoid penalty and perform a good relay. Team member one may now exit the lane as team member Page5of11

If the exiting team member commits any penalty BEFORE their rear tire patch exits the lane, this will also be considered an Improper Rider Relay. 3. Team member two then relays with team member three in the same manner as prescribed in subparagraph 2 and then team member three relays with team member four in the same manner as prescribed in subparagraph 2. 4. Team member four continues his slow ride within the lane and the time stops when his entire rear-tire contact patch is completely across the finish line. E. Ranking: 1. The competitor with the slowest speed and fewest penalty points wins. 2. When the same result occurs and the result is valid, an equal result is acceptable. F. Awards: First through Third Place. AWARDS Medals are awarded First through Third Place (1 st 3 rd ). A maximum of 10 sets of medals will be required. WPFGF will advise you of the number of sets needed based on the total entries, plus a reasonable margin. Page6of11

PRECISE RESULTS, ON FORMS PROVIDED, MUST BE FORWARDED TO THE HOST COMMITTEE IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING THE CONCLUSION OF THIS SPORT The WPFGF Director assigned to your sport is knowledgeable and experienced in providing assistance during the preparation and running of the sport. Questions, a detailed accounting of your preparations, and any area requiring approval of the WPFGF shall be submitted in a timely manner to this WPFGF Director.
