PCCA Select Group Descriptions Select groups include the Bronze, Silver, and Gold groups. Participation in the select groups is by arrangement with the coaching staff. These groups are for advanced swimmers. The summer schedule begins Monday, June 12 th at Sequoia High School. There are no afternoon practices on dual meet days. Bronze group: *Swimmers choose either: 9-10AM (M-TH) or 4:30-5:30PM (M-F) This group focuses on stroke technique, race readiness, and training fundamentals for 10 & under swimmers to prepare for competition. Bronze group swimmers are strongly encouraged to participate in local and regional swim meets. Silver Group: *Swimmers choose either: 8:45-10:00AM (M-TH) or 5:30-6:45PM (M-F) Advanced age group and high school swimmers (ages 11-16) who have competed in our summer league program/pcca and high school competition can be members of this group. The silver group focuses on stroke technique, race readiness, and training to prepare them for local and regional competition. Gold Group: 7:30-9:00AM (M-Th) & 4:00-5:30 PM Friday, Saturdays TBD Skilled and experienced age group swimmers ages 11 and older are welcome in this group. The group focuses on stroke technique, race readiness, and training to prepare athletes for local, regional and national competition. Practices are offered 5-6 times a week for 90 minutes.
Check with the PCCA Select Groups web page for practice schedules, May 1 - June 8 th PCCA Color Group Descriptions June 12-July 22 Color Groups include the Green, Red, Blue, and Ruby groups. Participation in these groups is based on age, knowledge and skill level well as experience. The primary emphasis for these groups is stroke technique and development in competitive swimming. All Color Group swimmers are invited to participate in the WBSL Summer Swim Meets. An evaluation is necessary for all new swimmers to the team prior to registering for any one of these groups. Green Group: Emphasis is on improving stroke technique for entry level 10 & under swimmers. Swimmers must be able to swim front crawl with side breathing and ½ lap of backstroke. Practices are 30 minutes. Please see the next page for practice times and availability. Red Group: This group is for swimmers with skills that may include summer league/pcca experience. Emphasis is on improving stroke technique and race preparation. Ages 7 to 14. Practices are 40 minutes. Please see the next page for practice times and availability. Blue Group: This group is for swimmers who have completed PCCA s Red level group, and who are familiar with stroke drills, reading the clock and good technique for all four strokes. Ages 7 to 14. Practices are 40 minutes. Please see the next page for practice times and availability. Ruby Group: This group prepares swimmers for the transition into the Bronze and Silver groups. Ruby members focus on stroke technique, interval work and race readiness. Practices are 40 minutes. Please see the next page for practice times and availability. Meet Entries and Parent Volunteer sign-ups for all meets must be done online (info to come soon) Any changes to entries must be made at least one week prior to the meet date. Entries close approximately four days prior to the meet. Volunteer Sign-Ups All parents are asked to volunteer for at least 3 meets (home or away) in order to make our meets possible. Meets are divided into two shifts for most positions. Please see the Volunteer Sign Ups page when you register your swimmer for a meet. Thank you!
PCCA Team Apparel Goggles and PCCA Team Caps (required): Available for purchase at the Peninsula Community Center. Team Suit (recommended): Team suits will be available for purchase prior to the season beginning. Order your suit online here: https://www.toyandsport.com/pages/pcca. Suits will be available to try on before practices during the month of May. Swimmers should be dry and should try the suit on over their practice suit. All orders made before May 28, 2017 will be delivered on the first day of practice with no shipping. Just select in store pick-up. Team T-Shirts: A PCCA Team shirt will be provided for each registered swimmer. Please indicate t-shirt size on registration form. Shirts will be distributed and worn at team pictures on Saturday, June 17th. PCCA Parkas: PCCA embroidered parkas are available for purchase through John Flesner. PCCA Team Pictures and New Swimmer Orientation The PCCA Dolphins are kicking off the summer with Team pictures and an orientation for all new PCCA swimmers and parents. Come to receive your Summer T-Shirt and represent PCCA in their 2017 team photo as well as meet your coaches and teammates! Individual photos will be available after the team photo has been taken. The orientation will follow for all new and returning swimmers who would like to know more about what to expect as a swimmer and parent on swim team.
