Issue No. 3 2018/19 THE ONLY PLACE TO GET ALL THE REDCAP NEWS Est.1942/43 Season Resumes As we wobble our way into the new year, there is much to report both on and off the field. Senior cricket has re commenced while the junior teams begin this weekend. Firstly, congratulations to a number of our underage players who have been participating in Victorian Cricket pathways competitions in recent weeks. Lucas Argall, Ben Evans, Tristan Maple, Kento Dobell, Daniel Cassidy & Harry Carlyon have each represented themselves, their families, and our club exceptionally well. These lads, together with their parents have committed considerable time to being involved at this level of competition and the club acknowledges your efforts. CURRENT LADDER POSITIONS With 3 matches remaining, each of our senior teams have the opportunity to play in the finals. Despite defeating the top side last week, the 1 st XI are in fifth position and need to keep winning. Our 2nd XI is well placed in 4 th position [top six teams play finals].this very young team is playing exceptionally well under the guidance of Justin Howlett. Our three 3 rd XI teams are well poised to make the top six. At present the Red and White teams are inside the six while the Redcaps are just a game outside. Practice sessions continue to be well attended and as we push towards the finals, we look forward to every player striving to do his best. Prior to Christmas we welcomed new players to our Senior ranks. To Rob Crowther, Matt McKerrow, Brett Cleary, Daryl Jarred, Mitch Colbert and Sarath Sreedharan we trust that you enjoy your time playing with Wendouree
REDCAFS Round Following on from the success of our Children and Family Services (CAFS) Christmas Appeal last year, Natarsha and her elves hosted another special REDCAFS evening on Friday 14 th December at CE Brown Reserve. Despite the weather turning nasty and a huge downpour hitting Ballarat that resulted in all junior games being cancelled that night, we still had about 70 brave and charitable souls come along to the club rooms for the event. The event raised thousands of dollars for CAFS in the form of donated toys and presents, cash donations and other items donated to CAFS.

U18 Female National Championships Ballarat recently hosted the Australian Female Under 18 Championships and our club made a significant contribution to this event. Our home ground hosted 3 pool games and a final. Special thanks must go to Tim Argall, Darren Woodyatt & Tex Perkins and the group of volunteers who catered and assisted with the day to day running of the matches. A big thank you also to the following players & juniors - Stephen Segrave, Tom Hannett, Lucas Argall, Brock Reid, Cam Jenkins & Oscar Wooton for your efforts across a number of days. Hosting these championships provides a source of revenue for our club and allows us to showcase our great facilities to state level teams and administrators from Cricket Australia, so the contribution of our volunteers is very much appreciated. A huge Thank-you to the volunteers who also helped out with the catering were: Williams Family (too many to mention individually!) Tony & Lilly Davis Matt Smith Megan Bourke Tania Bentin & Gabby Dwane Ellen Jackson David Knight
Goods & Services Auction Prior to the Christmas break the club conducted a Goods & Services Action fundraising event that involved the auctioning of a considerable variety of donated goods and services. This event proved very successful and special thanks is extended to Ivan Pyke & Darren Woodyatt for their coordination of the event and the many people and businesses that donated items together with the club members, supporters and friends who attended the function. Ladies Social Match A big thanks to the mums and daughters who came along and took part in our ladies social match last Saturday evening. It was a great night and everyone enjoyed themselves immensely. Thanks to those who helps out on the BBQ and assisted in setting up and running the game.
