The Monthly Newsletter of the Colorado Shaketails The Oldest Cowboy Action Shooting Society in the Colorado Territory Ben Lomond Gun Club, Ramah, Colorado RATTLER TATTLER Volume 22 Issue 5 May 2011 NOTES FROM THE RANGE May has arrived, the skies are blue and the temps warm. Now if we could get a good warm windless day to shoot on. It wasn't too bad on the range this month, it was tolerable and the lead was flying. Hot lead on steel always warms my heart if not my numb limbs. We got through 5 full stages this month. The stages were all ones we have shot before. We mixed stuff up on them and I forgot some key elements of others but they were fun none the less, I even managed to get three in before my arm wore out so that warmed me even more. There was a good turnout for the shoot and we had some first timers show up. I hope everyone had a good time. Both posses moved out good and the shooting was fun. I do like shooting Shaketail Style. No P traps just good old fashion shooting. I hope we have a lot more. As always I want to thank everyone that helped set up and tear down. We did both in record times this month. Thank you all. As everyone no doubt knows by now, May was our last shoot. There is a possibility that we will shoot there again but we are uncertain as to what format it will be under. If you are a BLGC member I urge you to voice your concerns about this to the BLGC Board of Directors. Don't threaten or cajole but urge them to keep us as a club discipline. We have been there 20+ years and have A LOT of history with BLGC. I would hate to see Cat House Bill's legacy to CASS die. I'll sign off for now and wish everyone "Good shooting & Fair winds". Don't count us out yet the Shaketails don't die easy. Remember cut off the head and the body will writhe until sundown. Good Shooting Friends, until we meet on the range again. Keep your powder dry. Midnite Slim May 8 May 14 June 11 UPCOMING EVENTS Monthly Cowboy Long Range Shoot arrive about 9:00 AM Third Annual Spring Chicken Shoot at BLGC BLGC Open House

TG s Corner It has only been a month since we honored Cathouse Bill following his passing and now we could be looking at our last shoot at BLGC and the Shaketails name could be in jeopardy. Needless to say the situation is quite frustrating and disappointing and this is not the forum for exposing all of the details. There are still discussions going on and ideas being explored that could change the situation. I will be sending out updates as the situation becomes clearer. I appreciate all the support we have gotten. Shootin Hoosier
