The 10 th Annual Lindenwood Lions Classic Presented by Hammer Bowling Sponsored by: Greater St. Louis Bowling Centers Association $1,000 in Scholarship Prizes Saturday & Sunday, October 27-28, 2018 St. Charles Lanes, 2187 First Capitol Dr. (MEN) Plaza Lanes, 506 Droste Rd. (WOMEN) St. Charles, MO 63301 Oil Pattern: Lion s Classic Pattern Length: 40 feet; Volume: 40ml Entry Fee: $170.00 per team. Bowling (per team): $130.00, Awards $10.00, Expenses: $30.00.
Format/Schedule (MEN at St. Charles Lanes) Saturday, October 27, 2018 8:00 to 8:15am: Check-In 8:15am: Coaches Meeting 8:30am: Practice 8:45am: Seven (7) team games. Lane rotation determined by total number of teams entered. Power points awarded determined by varsity standings after bowling on Saturday. Sunday, October 28, 2018 Format/Schedule (MEN) Final Play-In Round/Match Play on Sunday A certain number of teams in the men s varsity and men s JV divisions may have to be eliminated in order to set up a proper bracket for double-elimination match play on Sunday. If this is the case in a division, a best-of-five play-in match or matches will take place first thing Sunday morning. The teams involved in any play-in matches will be determined by standings after the seven team games. Any ties for seeding will be broken by highest team game bowled on Saturday. Second tiebreaker is highest total for first three team games on Saturday. The number of teams in the play-in elimination round will be determined by total entries. For instance, if 10 teams are entered in a division, the teams playing an elimination match would consist of the following based on position after Saturday: #7 team vs. #10 team (winner becomes #7 seed for double-elimination bracket, loser eliminated) #8 team vs. #9 team (winner becomes #8 seed for double-elimination bracket, loser eliminated) The top 6 teams in each division in this scenario would be automatically seeded into double-elimination match play based on their final standings position after the Sunday morning round. The play-in elimination round will be used to set up the double-elimination round with 4, 6, 8, 12, or 16 teams, whichever is most feasible based on entered teams in each division. A single elimination stepladder final will be used for a 12 team double-elimination bracket based on overall match play record. Sunday brackets will be double-elimination for the most part, but may conclude with single elimination in the semifinals or finals. If so, the final may be a best-of-five round. Play-In Elimination Round (if necessary) (if no play-in round is necessary, ALL teams will begin double-elimination match play after announcement of ATT made at 8:45 am) 8:00am: Practice 8:15am: Best-of-five baker play-in match. Higher seed(s) has choice of starting lane. If match is tied after game five of any elimination match, the tie will be broken with a 5 ball shoot-out on finishing lane (just like a one-ball roll-off, but with five different players throwing shots-highest pin fall advances) If tied, switch lanes and repeat process until a winner is determined. Losing teams in specific elimination matches are eliminated, regardless of entering seed or final power point standings. Winning teams advance to best-of-three double-elimination bracket play. 8:45 am (if no elimination round): ATT Announcement, then practice for best-of-three Match Play for all remaining teams. (If elimination round, then ATT announcement occurs at 8:45 am or right after elimination round conclusion, whichever is later) The higher seed chooses its starting lane at the beginning of each match. There are exceptions based on the bracket set-up above. These exceptions will be reviewed during the coaches meeting. If any match is tied 1-1 after two games, the team with the higher 2-game pin total chooses starting lane for game three. If match is tied 1.5 to 1.5 after game three, match will be determined by a five ball shoot-out on game three lanes. Any subsequent ties would be broken by additional shoot-outs on opposite lanes. Eight practice balls per lane per team prior to each round after round one.
Format/Schedule (WOMEN at Plaza Lanes) Saturday, October 27, 2018 8:15 to 8:30am: Check-In 8:30am: Coaches Meeting 8:45am: Practice 9 am: Three (3) team games. Lane rotation determined by total number of teams entered. 12:15pm: Based on standings after three team games, teams in women s varsity and women s JV divisions will be placed into separate round-robin, baker pool play. Divisions with more than 10 teams will have two pools, with top teams pooled together and lower teams pooled together. Each team in a pool will play the other teams in the pool at least once in total pins matches to create a win/loss record {number of games per match determined by total teams in a division-anyone bowling an unopposed match (bye) will not receive a win or loss, but pin fall will count towards team total}. All but one round of pool play will be bowled Saturday, with final round Sunday morning. Final seeding into Sunday match play is determined by win/loss record (tie-breaker being total pin fall of team and round-robin baker games, second tie-breaker is total baker pin fall, third tie-breaker is three-game team total). In divisions with two pools, win/loss record in top division will determine top seeding while win/loss record in lower pool will determine lower seeding in the bracket. Best-of-Three Match Play on Sunday/Possible Team Elimination A certain number of teams in the women s varsity and women s JV divisions may have to be eliminated in order to set up a proper bracket for double-elimination match play on Sunday. If this is the case, after pool play is complete Sunday morning, teams with the lowest win/loss record in a division (see above for tiebreaker scenario) with one pool will be eliminated as necessary. In divisions with two pools, lowest record(s) in the lower pool will be eliminated as necessary to set up the double-elimination bracket with 4, 6, 8, 12, or 16 teams, whichever is most feasible based on entered teams in each division. A single elimination step-ladder final will be used for a 12 team double-elimination bracket based on overall match play record. Sunday brackets will be double-elimination for the most part, but may conclude with single elimination in the semifinals or finals. If so, the final may be a best-of-five round. Power points for USBC purposes will be based on total pin fall of three team games and all baker games bowled in pool play. Sunday, October 28, 2018 Schedule (WOMEN) 8:30am: Practice 8:45am: FINAL ROUND OF POOL PLAY 9:30 am: ATT Announcement, then practice for best-of-three Match Play The higher seed chooses its starting lane at the beginning of each match.
