he original name of the edar Brae Golf lub was edar Brook Golf and ountry lub, a member owned golf course club from its inception in 1922. he original golf course layout was designed by tanley hompson and built on 160 acres of farm property stretching from Markham oad in the east to Bellamy oad in the west just south of Lawrence venue in carborough. n 1935, selected representatives of the golf membership formed a company called edar Brae Limited and bought the assets of edar Brook Golf and ountry lub for $30,000. edar Brae Limited then set up a new oronto private golf club organization called edar Brae ecreation lub and leased the golf course property to the new club for $8,000 per year. he golf membership fee for seniors that year was $50.
n 1939, the golf club name was changed to edar Brae Golf & ountry lub. During the war years, the edar Brae golf course hosted and entertained many in the service and was involved in raising money for war charities. n 1954, the golf club property was sold to developers and new property was acquired for a country club golf course on teeles venue. company formed by rt Bamford, George rost, and Mac rost, (Golf Leaseholds Limited), built a new edar Brae golf course, located just west of our present property. n 1962, the golf course membership for a enior was $235. hat year, Mac rost traded for the 156 acres of land just east of the Golf lub known as the Valley. onstruction of the new golf course club in the Valley was completed in 1969. enowned golf course architect and tanley hompson disciple, (obbie) obinson, was the designer of that original edar Brae golf course. edar Brae Golf lub has hosted the: n 1970, the golf membership undertook the purchase of the new Valley course and the existing clubhouse, and subsequently became the owners of the oronto golf course. nder the new ownership, operation and control passed to a Board of Directors elected from the general golf membership for a three-year term. he Board of Directors and the membership have recently changed the name back to edar Brae Golf lub. edar Brae has proven over the years to be a destination for golfers seeking the best golf course experience in oronto. Visiting guests regularly praise edar Brae's layout, course conditioning, the large fast greens that require a deft putting touch, and outstanding service received. ow the membership of this exceptional oronto golf course has taken the lub to a new level with the inauguration of its new lubhouse.

Local dignitaries along with numerous members of the golf community including Bob Weeks, Lorne ubenstein and Mark Zecchino were in attendance to accompany the many edar Brae members on hand for the event.
