TODAY'S STORYLINES l The White Sox are looking to secure just their second series win during interleague play this season (5/12-14 vs. San Diego). l Chicago has homered in six consecutive games (17 home runs total), including four multihomer efforts. l Carson Fulmer is looking to record his first MLB win as a starter. l José Abreu needs one home run and 13 RBI to record his third season of 30-plus homers and 100-plus RBI he is hitting.364/.400/.758 with five doubles, two triples 10 home runs, 19 RBI and 11 multihit efforts over his last 25 games since 8/12. l Nicky Delmonico has reached base safely in 24 of his first 26 MLB games he has reached base multiple times in 13 contests. LAST NIGHT'S RECAP l José Abreu led the White Sox 18-hit, six-homer performance by hitting for the cycle in a 13-1 win over San Francisco. l Abreu became the sixth player in Sox history to hit for the cycle, hitting his 29th home run in the first, recording a double in the third, a single in the seventh and a triple in the eighth. l Chicago hit six home runs in a game for the 13th time in franchise history (club record is seven on two occasions). l The White Sox 13 runs and 18 hits were their second-most in a game this season (16 and 19 on 5/20 at Seattle). l In addition to Abreu, Tim Anderson (No. 16), Yolmer Sánchez (No. 11), Avisaíl García (No. 16), Yoán Moncada (No. 4) and Nicky Delmonico (No. 7) also homered. l James Shields earned the win after allowing just one run on two hits with five strikeouts over 7.0 IP. JOSÉ! l José Abreu last night became just the sixth player in White Sox history to hit for the cycle and the first since José Valentin on 4/27/00 vs. Baltimore according to Elias, he is the first Cuban-born player in major-league history to record a cycle. l Abreu joined San Diego's Wil Myers, Washington's Trea Turner, Texas' Carlos Gomez, Colorado's Nolan Arenado, the Dodgers' Cody Bellinger and Tampa Bay's Evan Longoria as players to hit for the cycle in 2017. l The seven cycles this season are the second-most in MLB history (eight in 2009 and 1933). ABOUT LAST NIGHT l 1B José Abreu, 2B Yoán Moncada, 3B Yolmer Sánchez and SS Tim Anderson became the first starting infield in White Sox history to all homer in a game (source: STATS LLC). l Moncada hit his first career homer off a left-handed pitcher. l Anderson and Sánchez each fell a double short of joining Abreu as the only set of teammates in MLB history to hit for the cycle in the same game (source: STATS LLC). l The Sox six home runs were their most in a game since matching a franchise record with seven (all solo shots) in a 10-8 loss on 6/25/16 vs. Toronto. PITO POWER l José Abreu needs one home run to reach 30 for the third time in his career, and 13 RBI to reach 100 for the fourth time. l Below is a breakdown of his notable accomplishments, upcoming milestones and rankings: m Looking to become the third player in MLB history to begin his career with four straight seasons of 25-plus homers and 100-plus RBI, joining Joe DiMaggio (1936-39) and Albert Pujols (2001-10). m Is the first player in White Sox history to begin his major-league career with four-plus consecutive 25-homer seasons, and the 10th in major-league history to accomplish the feat (STATS LLC). m Trying to become the fifth player ever to record 100-plus RBI in his first four-plus seasons the others: Al Simmons (1924-34), Pujols (2001-10), Ted Williams (1939-42, '46-49) and DiMaggio (1936-42). m His 120 career home runs rank 16th in Sox history, five behind Sherm Lollar (124) for 15th place. m Is on pace to record career highs in extra-base hits, total bases and hits his 37 doubles and five triples are career highs. SAN FRANCISCO GIANTS l The White Sox and Giants are meeting for the first time since 2014, and for the first time in a three-game series at Guaranteed Rate Field since 6/10-12/03. l The Sox have won seven of the last nine games since 5/16/08. l Chicago won three out of four in the last season series in 2014, sweeping two games at home and going 1-1 in San Francisco. l The White Sox lead the all-time series, 8-4, going 4-3 at Guaranteed Rate Field and 4-1 at AT&T Park. l The Sox 12 all-time meetings with San Francisco are the second-fewest vs. any opponent (10 vs. the Mets). SOUTHPAW SUCCESS l Chicago is hitting.277 (350-1,262) vs. left-handers this season, the third-best mark in the American League and fifth-best in MLB Avisaíl García (1st,.432) and José Abreu (4th,.375) rank among the MLB leaders in average vs. lefties. l García is in position to become the first White Sox player since Frank Thomas in 2000 (.407) to lead the American League in average vs. left-handers (STATS) no Sox player since at least 1974 has led the majors in average vs. LHP. LONGBALL LOGISTICS l Chicago has hit 166 home runs and is on pace to finish with 191, which would mark its highest total since 2012 (211) Matt Davidson (24) ranks fourth among Sox rookies, trailing José Abreu (36, '14), Ron Kittle (35, '83) and Zeke Bonura (27, '34). l Davidson, Tim Anderson (16), Avisaíl García (16), Yolmer Sánchez (11) and Leury García (nine) all have set career highs in home runs this season.
