MARATHON CLASSIC INSIDERS JANUARY 2014 Marathon Classic Passes $8 million in Grants to Children s Charities On Friday, December 20, 2013 The Marathon Classic distributed $ 378,000 to 23 charities that work to serve children in Northwestern Ohio and Southeastern Michigan. With the 2013 tournament, the financial impact of the tournament passed $8.1 million dollars to over 100 charities that touch the lives of thousands of children in our community. The Charity Check Luncheon celebrated the tournament sponsors, the tournament staff, and the volunteers, who each contributed through their roles to raising these funds for the charities. It was also a celebration of the charities and their volunteers as they work tirelessly to improve the lives of children in our community. Representatives from each of the charities expressed gratitude for the financial support they received from the tournament and explained how the monies will be used to support their efforts serving children throughout our region.
