Overview Here is all the info you need for the durtfeets Trail Series Upton on Sunday November 13, 2016! MRA Multisport is proud to bring this great trail running series this year! The Upton State Forest course in Upton, MA is approximately a 6.5mile loop (completed twice for the half marathon, once for the 10.5k race) through a mix of single track and double wide fire- roads through the State Forest. The single track has its share of traditional New England qualities roots and rocks, but has a really nice flow to it. There are a few good inclines in this loop sure to spike your heart rate a bit. Please take the time to review this packet to familiarize yourself with the contents. durtyfeets Trail Series (Upton) Athlete Race Packet November 13th, 2016 Directions & Parking The race venue is the main parking lot/old lodge area at Upton State Forest, Westboro Rd, Upton MA 01568. There will be volunteers there to direct you to this main lot, along with Event Parking signs. PLEASE DO NOT PARK ALONG PARK ROAD (narrow, basically one way road anyways) OR AT THE SMALL LOT AT THE MAIN GATE. There will be close to 300 runners, race staff, medical, and sponsors on site. Timeline Nov 8 th - 12 th (Tuesday Saturday) Nov 13 th, Sunday 1. Check- in/bib pick- up for pre- registered athletes at Miles to go Sports located at 160 Worcester- Providence Turnpike (Route 146S), Sutton, MA 01590 during regular business hours. Pick- up your bib and any pre- race supplies you may need! 2. There will be NO on- site registration for new participants. On- line registration closes at 6pm on Saturday, or until the race sells out. 7:00-8:50am 1. Check- in/bib pick- up for ALL pre- registered athletes a. It s important that ALL runners check in by this time, regardless of the race you are running. Our timing system needs to be locked down prior to the first event starting at 9am. 2. There will be NO Race day registration for new participants. On- line registration closes at noon on Saturday. 3. bumdrums fire pits lit to warm everyone up! 8:55am (Start line area) - Pre- race announcements (everyone), National Anthem 9:00am - Half Marathon Starts (10.5k starts at 9:20) 10:30 soup is on! Enjoy hot soups from Red Rock Grill and Bar! Approx. 10:45am 1. Awards ceremony 10.5k (Approx. 11:30 for Half) 3 P age

Race Numbers Each racer will receive a numbered bib. The bib MUST BE WORN for the entire race, and if you want an accurate time make sure it s on the front (if its on the back, we can t record your time until AFTER you have crossed the finish line, not AS you cross it). And without it, a time will not be recorded for you. Timing will be manual, and will be made available online after the event. Safety pins will be provided, or you can use your own race belt. Starting Line and Waves It will be a mass start for the trail race 9am for the Half and 9:20 for the 10.5k. Please line up according to pace (faster in front, slower in back) out of courtesy for all participants. We re staggering the start times to minimize any congestion out on the course for runners in both races. Each distance will have a different color bib check out and look at your peers to make sure you re in the right wave. Aid Stations sponsored by Tailwind Nutrition Runners will be able to choose from water or sports drink from Tailwind at the aid station as well as the finish line. *The only porta- potties on the course will be located at the main venue (finish line area); there will not be any out on the course. For Upton, there are two on- course aid stations strategically placed at approximately halfway through the loop and again at the turn for the second loop (for halfers), so everyone hits an aid station approximately every 3 miles). The aid stations will have radio/phone contact with the venue, so please let them know if you cannot continue for whatever reason. Some of the aid stations have also been known to carry Fireball. Just ask your friendly aid- station volunteer. 4 P age

Awards Awards will be announced at the conclusion of each event (about 10:45 for 10.5k and 11:30am for Half) Top Male and Female Finisher in each Age Division (both distances) Under 20 20-29 30-39 40-49 50-59 60-69 70+ Rules The following rules are put in place for your safety on race day. Variable time penalties will be assessed for certain violations. Bib must be worn on the front and outside of your clothing during the race, from start line to finish line. You cannot discard any gear or equipment on the course; you can leave clothing/gear at the Aid Station, but they are NOT responsible for it. They will return all gear to the Start/Finish Line Area at the conclusion of the race; all unclaimed clothing will be donated to charity. Headphones are not allowed on the course during the race for the safety of all racers and for insurance purposes. Strollers, joggers, and pets are not allowed on the course during the race for the safety of all racers and for insurance purposes. Should be obvious based on terrain but need to state it all the same. Unsportsmanlike Conduct will not be tolerated. No further clarification necessary. You must stay on the designated trail/course. 5 P age

You must have fun and take pride in the fact that you re able to compete in endurance events, like the durtyfeets Trail Series. Trail Run Course The course is a good mix of single track and double wide fire roads. The single track is pretty typical for trails in this region, that being they have good flow to them, but a healthy dose of rocks and roots to keep you on honest and on your toes. The leaf covering this time of year adds and extra challenge too! Race signs, flags, tape, tree markings, and volunteers will be out on the course to ensure you are heading in the correct direction and for your safety. Weather Policy Reminder It is truly our intent to put on a great, fun race for you, the athlete. Mother Nature has no bias, however. As stated in the cancellation policy, in the case of serious and dangerous conditions, we reserve the right to delay the race a few hours, adjust segments, or as a last resort cancel the event. In the unfortunate situation that the race is canceled, there is a no- refund policy in place, as the costs have already been incurred to host the event and we do not want to take away any contributions to our charities. We expect you to be disappointed if the durtyfeets Trail Series is canceled, as we will be, but we also hope you understand why a no- refund policy is in place. Post Race After the run, be sure to stick around for not only the awards ceremony, but also enjoy some hot soups from Red Rock Grill & Bar. We ll have a couple of different options to meet different dietary needs. Be sure to check out Red Rock either on Saturday night for a pre- race meal or Sunday afternoon for lunch after the race and tell them you re running/ran the Upton Trail Race by MRA! A couple of fire pits from bumdrums will be a- burning too to keep you warm! 7 P age

Series Standings Being the last race of the series, a number of Age Groups are still up for grabs. Here is a snapshot of the leaders with at least 3 races so far (need 4 to capture title). Points are calculated by taking the average time of the middle 80% of the runners (throw out the fastest and slowest times to get good, real average). Based on this average time, runners earn points for how much they beat (or are under) the average. The 4 best races throughout the season count. Series level awards will be calculated the week following the race and winners will be announced. We also do a little something for racers that have participated in all 6 races this season.
