I. Sport is the biggest winner of. The success of Olympics depends heavily on if the athletes perform their best on the sports ground. Inspired by the holy Olympic flame, the best sports athletes from all over the world showed their superb athletic performances and sportsmanship, and their spirits of courageous struggle, fair competition, and self challenge and mutual learning.

Beijing Association for Science and Technology (BAST) is a major science and technology body in the capital city. In the years of preparation for, BAST started from encouraging and stimulating the initiatives of science and technology workers, endeavored to guide science and technology staff in focusing on serving Olympics and actively implemented the concept of hi-tech Olympics to provide support to successful host of Olympics.
BAS (I) Provide Intellectual Support to Organization and Preparatory Work of T Olympics. The hi-tech Olympics needed support of sophisticated science and technology, encouraged innovation and application of science and technology, and demanded the truth-seeking and innovative scientific spirit.

The possible natural disasters and man-made made hazards in 2008 through comparison of safety accidents and disastrous events during previous Olympics, and propose comments and suggestions accordingly. BAS T

Since 2002, BAST had organized about 40 large-scale academic exchange activities related to Olympics. Science and technology experts of different disciplines i gave their professional opinions and worked in close cooperation, and emerged many viewpoints and thinking with extremely practical values, and provided scientific basis and theoretical supports for successful organization and progress of Olympics from technological level. The spirit of science was fully reflected in preparatory process of Olympics, and the hi-tech Olympics and scientific development realized organic integration.

The Beijing Municipal Construction Work Program on Scientific Literacy of All Citizens Civilians clearly proposed implementation of Olympic Scientific Popularization Action, and closely combined the popularization of Olympic science with improvement of public scientific literacy.
The Beijing Science and Technology Week and Olympics Lecture were large-scale mass scientific popularization p events themed on Olympics and for popularizing Olympic knowledge in different groups. Such events also played active roles in publicizing and practicing the concepts of hi-tech Olympics.
The exhibition tours for scientific popularization themed Sports in Motion- Interactive Shown on Scientific Exercises and Health Fitness were launched in 23 cities in 2005, of which main contents were to simulate Olympic projects and explain the scientific and technological contents in Olympic sports facilities and equipment. More than 5 million people benefited from the tours.
The large scale exhibition tours for scientific popularization with theme of Fulfill Your Dream with Technology and Greet Olympics with Harmony was launched in 9 cities in 2007, in which the latest achievements of Olympic technology such as Olympic torch, ETFE membrane structure of Water Cube, steel structure of Bird s Nest, National Indoor Stadium power generation model, food quality traceability system model, solar energy thermal power generation system model, automatic weather station and face recognition system.
For popular science readings, The Serial Books on Olympic Games (4 volumes), Popular Science Knowledge Handbook on Nationwide Body Building, Technology Mystery under Five-ring Olympic Flag, Heart-to-Heart Olympics, Citizen Readings on Olympics, Mental Fitness Guidance to Volunteer Service, Olympic Sports Rules and Etiquettes, Fuwa Book Series, and Illustrations on Olympic Games were formally published.
