MAJOR RULES WHAT HAS CHANGED? Free kicks will be taken from the basketball 3-point line directly at the top of the key Goalie play: a goalie may dive for a ball as long as he/she is not diving at the feet of another participant. If the official determines he/she is diving at the feet or in an unsafe/unsporting manner, the play will be enforced like a slide tackle. A discretionary call regarding safety is not eligible for protest Goalies are permitted to leave the penalty area and become an attacking/defending player on the team (leaving the net empty). Goalies doing this must abide by all playing regulations applied to other players and no other member of the team is permitted to take the goalie s place.
MAJOR RULES ELIGIBILITY Valid UWL Eagle ID Participant quiz passed Captain s meeting attended No 2017-2018 UWL Women s Soccer active roster members Roster verifications conducted with UWL Athletics 1 former collegiate player can participate in A league Men s & Women s Club Soccer players must play in A league 1 male and 1 female Club Soccer player per Co-Rec team 1 Club Soccer player per single-gender team
MAJOR RULES GENERAL ACTIVITY RULES Equipment: Shin guards must be worn and can be rented from IM Supervisor Team jerseys can be rented from IM Supervisor Teams must wear the same color shirts Goalies must have a different color shirt than their team and opposing team Balls for warm ups may be rented from Rec Sports Office, 118 Mitchell Hall
MAJOR RULES GENERAL ACTIVITY RULES Teams consist of 5 players, including goalie Teams may start with as few as 4 players Two 15-minute halves with a running clock Ball going out of bounds results in an indirect free kick No offside penalties Slide tackling is not allowed, subject to yellow/red card One 30-second timeout per half, do not carry over Free substitution on dead balls
MAJOR RULES GENERAL ACTIVITY RULES Free kicks: Defending players must remain 10 feet away from the ball in all directions until it is played by the attacking team Players allowed 5 seconds for any free kick Indirect Free Kicks Ball hitting ceiling or hoop Illegal substitution Illegal goalkeeper hand contact Ball going out of bounds Goalies illegally putting the ball in play inside 3 point line Direct Free Kicks Slide tackling, charging, holding, pushing, tripping Hand ball Yellow or red card Preventing goalkeeper from releasing ball Unsportsmanlike behavior Corner kicks
MAJOR RULES GOALIE PLAY Hands only within penalty area (high school 3 point line) Must play ball within 5 seconds of save No drop kicks or punts No hands if ball is passed back by teammate Diving allowed if not diving at another players feet at officials discretion When the ball exits the field of play through the end line behind the goalie, the goalkeeper can throw the ball from anywhere inside the penalty area. Goalie may throw or kick ball past midfield line Cannot throw ball more than 6 feet in the air A goal cannot be scored when throwing in a goal kick
MAJOR RULES CO-REC SPECIFICATIONS Co-Rec Specifications All teams must have 2 males and 2 females in contest at all times 5 th player may be either gender, there is no advantage schedule
OFFICIALS CONTESTS CANNOT HAPPEN WITHOUT THEM ARE TRAINED IN ACCORDANCE TO WIAA AND NFHS STANDARDS ARE EVALUATED FREQUENTLY ARE ASSIGNED PARTNERS AND CONTESTS STRATEGICALLY ARE TO BE TREATED WITH RESPECT WILL MAKE MISTAKES BUT SHOULD BE TRYING HARD ANY ISSUES?
