Opening Statement: With last night s victory, the G-Braves are now 4-1 on Opening Day since 2009, including a perfect 3-0 when opening at Coolray Field. It s the third time Gwinnett has bested Charlotte to start the year the G-Braves won their inaugural game, 9-1, on 4/9/09 at Knights Stadium and defeated Charlotte by an 8-6 score on 4/8/10 at Coolray Field. Gwinnett s only Opening Day loss occurred on 4/5/12, when they fell 4-3 at Durham in 12 innings. Perfect Night for Pastornicky: Thanks to his 4-for-4 performance that included two doubles, a run scored, an RBI and a stolen base, Tyler Pastornicky enters today s action atop the International League in hitting with a 1.000 average he s also T-2 nd in the IL in doubles (2) and third in slugging percentage (1.500). The four hits ties Pastornicky s career high, last accomplished on 7/5/11 with Double-A Mississippi when he hit for the cycle (4-for-6, 2B, 3B, HR, 2 RBI) in a 14-7 win vs. Jackson. Last year, Gwinnett hitters posted just seven four-hit games. More on Gilmartin: Left-hander Sean Gilmartin, the No. 4 rated prospect in the Braves system according to Baseball America, claimed his second career Triple-A win last night (5.0 IP, 6 H, 1 ER, 4 K) he had last won with Gwinnett on 8/11/12 vs. Louisville (6.2 IP, 7 H, 2 ER, 3 K). In his Triple-A debut last night, Leonard went 2-for-4 with an RBI single. Ready for the Task: At the helm of the Gwinnett Braves this season is manager Randy Ready. A former Major League infielder and Major League hitting coach, Ready was named the second skipper in G-Braves history as the replacement for Dave Brundage (now with Lehigh Valley) on 11/12/12. He served as the Minor League Hitting Coordinator for the Texas Rangers in 2012 and the San Diego Padres MLB Hitting Coach from 7/31/09 to the end of the 2011 season.
