SPORTS UPDATE: Fall Sports Soccer Ends with the Championship Title: The Purple Soccer team finished their season in style by beating their opponents in the final tournament of the Florida West Coast in order to win the League Championship. Yes, the League Championship and a beautiful trophy went to our co-ed soccer team. It was a terrific season that saw our Warriors complete the regular season undefeated in league play and their dominance continued into the tournament. Every member of this year's team made significant contributions to this year's championship and the coaches are so proud of their accomplishment! Fall Sports Cross Country goes to State: The Boy's Cross-Country Team competed in the Florida State Cross Country Championship held in Lakeland this past weekend. The team finished 2nd for all Hillsborough County Public and Private Schools and 24th overall in the State. The exciting accomplishment for the coaches was the improvement that all runners made throughout the year. All runners, at some time during this season, were able to run their personal best, which is always a team goal. Congratulations to these elite runners Chloe Powers, Dalia Halawani, Giana Shaulis, Wyatt Bedke, Lawson Chastain, Chase Edwards, Brennan Fargher, Ricky Gonzalez, Eddie Mamudi, Nash Patapoff, Ayan Patel, Santiago Romero and Sean Trotman. These athletes worked tirelessly to compete and go above and beyond! Winter Sports began this week with both the Boys Basketball teams and the Girls Basketball teams beginning practice. Our Wrestling and Cheerleading teams begin practice on Monday, November 6th. If Middle School students are still interested in basketball, please have them join us on Monday, November 6th. It looks like it's going to be another great winter sports season. KINDERGARTEN CREATES MODEL CITY CALLED FROG TOWN!!!!! from our Kindergarten Frogs Proud Teachers Last week s Kindergarten Fun tastic Frog Ribbon Cutting Ceremony concluded their current International Baccalaureate unit of inquiry, How We Organize Ourselves: Communities. Through a variety of lessons and activities, they gained an understanding that communities utilize many people with a variety of skills to help them function. Over the last four weeks, the students collaborated with their peer work groups, teachers, and parent facilitators to interact, question, connect, problem-solve, communicate, and reflect on the construction of their Frog Town community. With the students actively involved in their own learning, they collaborated on the design and creation of all elements of their community. Frog Town contained elements of each type of community, complete with neighborhoods, a school, airport, fire and police departments, sports complexes, retail shops, theme parks, and more. The ceremony highlighted the effort, innovation and creativity the Frogs have put into this learning adventure. With Mayor Swarzman and Vice-Mayor Ripple present, the Frog Town Community Helpers proudly shared their roles and responsibilities. Each student dressed for his/her role and eloquently explained exactly what is expected to ensure a dynamic and supportive community! Thank you to all of our Froggy families for helping this learning adventure be a success! We appreciate your time, resources, and generosity in bringing learning to life. WALESBY VISION CENTER: BINOCULAR VISION SCREENING For the last decade and longer, we have witnesses a number of our students have their ability to improve their vision and school work in a number of ways through the Walesby Vision Center Diagnosis. As a favor to us, they are willing to come here for the second year in a row and do an initial screening. With your consent only, your child can have a free screening right here in the Farish Center by the Walesby team of all board certified O.D s (Doctors of Optometry) on Monday, November 13, 2017. Please see the permission form enclosed in your Thursday Folder and return the signed form by Wednesday, November 8, 2017, in order to be eligible for this free screening. 3
