INDIANAPOLIS INDIANS GAME NOTES TIBE TENDS: After clinching the International League West Division title on Thursday night, the Indians last night had their first round playoff matchup set as the Charlotte Knights clinched the IL South title with a 2-1 win over Pawtucket... The Indians and Knights own the two best records in the IL with the Tribe having a two-game edge over Charlotte for the best overall record... The Indians 81 wins match their largest win total since they went 81-63 during their championship season of 2000 TONIGT S TIBE STATE: P Kyle McPherson makes his third start for the Indians... With Indianapolis, McPherson is 0-1 with a 1.59 EA and in 11.1 innings pitched has allowed just two walks while recording 12 strikeouts... McPherson is making his first start for the Tribe since making his major league debut on Monday... In 2.0 innings out of the Pittsburgh Pirates bullpen, McPherson allowed one hit, no runs and no walks while recording two strikeouts... McPherson also made nine starts for the Double-A Altoona Curve this season, going 3-5 with a 4.07 EA, recording 46 strikeouts and allowing just five walks in 48.2 innings pitched... Across three levels in 2012, McPherson has allowed just seven walks and struck out 60 opponents, an 8.6:1 strikeout-to-walk ratio... In his most recent start for the Tribe, 8/14 at ochester, McPherson took the loss on 5.1 innings pitched with six hits (one home run), two runs (one earned) and two walks, striking out six ed Wings... McPherson has never faced the Clippers TONIGT S CLIPPES STATE: LP David uff makes his 21st start and 22nd appearance for Columbus... With the Clippers, uff is 6-6 with a 5.05 EA, two complete games and one shutout... uff has also made one start for Double-A Akron and is 6-6 with a 4.89 EA overall in 2012... In his most recent start, 8/20 at Louisville, uff picked up the win on 8.0 innings pitched, allowing just two hits (one home run), one earned run and one walk while striking out five Bats... uff last faced the Tribe on 7/14 at Victory Field, taking a no decision on 5.0 innings, eight hits (two home runs), six earned runs, four walks and three strikeouts LOUISVILLE ON LOCKE DOWN: LP Jeff Locke picked up his 10th win of the season on Friday night, tossing 6.0 shutout innings with four hits and a lone walk, recording six strikeouts... e also laid down a pair of sacrifice bunts... Locke now has 124 strikeouts this season, ranking him fifth in the International League... Additionally, his 2.56 EA ranks as the IL s third-lowest BEATING TE BATS: In five starts against Louisville this season, Locke is 4.0 with a 1.39 EA... In 32.1 innings pitched, he has allowed just 16 hits (one home run) and five earned runs while striking out 34 batters... Locke has also induced a pair of double plays and posted a 0.68 WIP against the Bats McPESON MAS: F Dallas McPherson (no relation to tonight s Tribe starter) went 2-for-4 with a home run, two BI and two runs scored in Friday night s win... It was the 14th total home run of the season for McPherson, who hit 12 in 61 games for the Charlotte Knights and has hit two in 10 games with Indianapolis... In those 10 contests, McPherson has 11 hits (one double, one triple and two home runs), two BI, two runs scored and a stolen base A JOLT FOM OLT: 2B Brock olt went 3-for-4 with a run scored and two steals on Friday night... It was olt s fourth three-hit game in 17 games with Indianapolis... Despite having a 10-game hitting streak snapped on Wednesday and going hitless in a pinch-hit appearance on Thursday, olt is batting exactly.400 (26-for-65) with five doubles, one home run, four BI, six runs scored and three stolen bases in his 17 games with the Tribe this season BOGGS ON BASE: LF Brandon Boggs went 1-for-3 with a double, an BI and a run scored in the win... It was the 24th double of the year for Boggs, which leads the current iteration of the Indians since the Pittsburgh Pirates selected the contract of 1B/D Jeff Clement, who at the time of his promotion was leading the International League is 35 two-baggers...
