Insurance IMPORTANT INFORMATION Head into the unknown knowing you re prepared for anything. Part of a travel experience is heading into the unknown, so it always pays to be prepared for anything. We highly recommend you purchase travel insurance as soon as you purchase your package, which means you are covered should you need to cancel. We have teamed up with Allianz Global Assistance, a world leader in assistance services and travel insurance. We can assist you with a policy specifically for your needs, which can include cover for pre-existing medical conditions and specific items of luggage and personal effects. Cancellation fees charged by Marathon Tours or our suppliers will not be waived under any circumstances, which is one reason why purchasing travel insurance is encouraged. If you do not purchase travel insurance through Marathon Tours you must provide evidence via email showing that you have obtained personal travel insurance. Without evidence, Marathon Tours reserves the right to withhold your travel documents until such time as evidence is produced. If you do not purchase travel insurance through Marathon Tours and you need to make a claim for whatever reason, a NZ$50 fee will be charged to process the relevant paperwork for your claim. What do you need to travel to USA? You will need a current New Zealand Passport to travel overseas, with a validity of six months or more after the date upon which you are scheduled to arrive back in New Zealand. All NZ passport holders must apply online for an ESTA Visa, at least 72 hours prior to departure for your trip to the USA. For more information visit www.cbp.gov/esta. There is a fee of US$14 for the ESTA Visa. Once granted, it is valid for multiple entries for two years or until your passport expires. If you have a passport from another country, or have a previous criminal conviction, a visa may be required. It is your responsibility to secure any visa well before your date of travel. If you are in any doubt or require assistance, please contact the Marathon Tours team who will be pleased to assist in confidence. A re-entry Visa will be required by travellers leaving New Zealand holding a foreign passport. It is your responsibility to ensure you have the correct documentation in place to allow your return to New Zealand. Marathon finishing times While the TCS New York City Marathon has an official end time of 7.25pm, please note that sweep buses will follow the marathon route at a 6.5 hour marathon pace, roughly 15 minutes per mile, after the final wave start. These buses will transport any entrant who wishes to drop out to the post-finish area. After the sweep buses pass by, the city streets will reopen to traffic. Cross street protection, medical assistance, old stations, refreshment stations and other services will no longer be available. Runners on the course move onto the sidewalks. TAKE NOTE IMPORTANT THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW How to protect yourself against the unknown It is compulsory that each person has travel insurance before travelling for the TCS New York City Marathon. Although it isn t compulsory that it s purchased via Allianz Global Assistance (our preferred provider), we do highly recommend it, as unlike other companies, they provide cover for the actual marathon event. We recommend you take out insurance as soon as you book, as it will ensure you are covered in case you injure yourself prior to the event and can no longer travel. We re constantly reminded about just how important it is to have the very best travel insurance cover, and being in New York during Hurricane Sandy certainly highlighted this once again. We know that our customers who purchased their travel insurance via AGA were hugely relieved they d done this, whilst others were left wishing they had. Allianz Global Assistance (AGA) is the preferred travel insurance provider, both of Marathon Tours, and also House of Travel nationwide, and they re a world leader in assistance services and travel insurance. They also include: Unlimited medical cover AGA helping someone, somewhere in the world, every two seconds! Terrorism cover for emergency medical assistance and hospital expenses Consultant backup and support our booking system allows us to travel our customers around the world 24-hour emergency assistance number, based in New Zealand As Marathon Tours staff are covered by AGA when we travel, in the event of something unforeseen happening if you ve chosen to purchase your travel insurance via AGA, it means we can assist you immediately without hesitation and delay. We will tailor-make your travel insurance so that you re covered for the entire time you re away from New Zealand. Prices start from NZD$110 per person for 8 days cover* subject to preexisting medical conditions and age. What do you need to travel to New York? Terms and conditions TCS NEW YORK CITY MARATHON - The TCS New York City Marathon 2019 is part of a tour package, with a wide range of options to choose from. It is not possible to participate in the Marathon independently of a package. Individual requests for extra days and visits to other parts of New York can be combined with any of the packages. DEPOSITS to secure a place on one of our packages, a total, nonrefundable deposit of NZ$1,099 per person is required at the time of booking. PRICES all prices in this brochure are correct as at December 2018 and are shown in New Zealand dollars, and are based on payment by cash, credit card or cheque. Prices are subject to change at any time due to currency fluctuations and until payment is received in full. The final payment is due on 30 June 2019. CANCELLATIONS AND REFUNDS all cancellations must be advised in writing. Please note, if you cancel part or all of your booking, you may incur cancellation charges from our suppliers.
