RADFORD Liberty has faced Radford more often than any opponent in program history, as Tuesday's game will mark the 70th meeting of a series which began in 1980. Radford was voted No. 1 and Liberty No. 2 in the Big South preseason poll, and the Highlanders and Lady Flames are the conference's two hottest teams. Radford is 8-1 in its last nine games, with the lone loss coming by a 61-56 count at Liberty on Jan. 28. Meanwhile, the Lady Flames are riding a season-long seven-game winning streak. Points could be at a premium on Tuesday, as Liberty ranks No. 15 nationally for scoring defense (55.3 ppg) and Radford ranks No. 16 in the same category (55.3 ppg). Five of the six Liberty-Radford clashes over the last three seasons have been decided by 10 points or fewer. Radford is 9-1 at the Dedmon Center this season and had won 21 straight home games prior to a 67-56 loss to UNC Asheville on Jan. 9. The Lady Flames had won nine straight visits to Radford before suffering a 76-68 loss last season (Jan. 24, 2017). The Lady Flames are 21-5 in their last 26 meetings with Commonwealth opponents, including 3-1 this season. Liberty has defeated in-state foes Longwood, Old Dominion and Radford in 2017-18, while losing at James Madison. The Lady Flames are 11-1 in Virginia this season but just 5-7 outside the state. LAST MEETING WITH RADFORD JAN. 28, 2018 LIBERTY 61, RADFORD 56 LYNCHBURG, VA. (VINES CENTER) Liberty led Radford by 13 points at halftime before the Highlanders rallied to tie the score twice. However, Radford missed two potential game-tying three-point attempts during the final 20 seconds and Liberty's Nene Johnson sealed the game with a rebound and two free throws. Keyen Green (14 points), KK Barbour (12 points) and Ashtyn Baker (11 points) all reached double figures for Liberty. Radford's Jayda Worthy scored 14 of her game-high 16 points during the second half. PLANES, TRAINS & AUTOMOBILES Liberty has survived a grueling travel schedule during the 2017-18 season, playing 16 road/neutral games in seven different states (Iowa, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia). The Lady Flames spent 11 nights in seven different hotels in the 17 days between Nov. 9-25 and have racked up 24 total hotel nights this season. Liberty has flown through 11 different airports this season, including Atlanta (during the Dec. 17 power outage), Charlotte, Charlottesville, Des Moines, Detroit, Dulles, Hartford, Kansas City, Lynchburg, O'Hare and Raleigh/Durham. Due to the Dec. 17 power outage at the Atlanta Airport, a majority of the Liberty travel party had to bus 800 miles from Atlanta to Kansas City the next day. KEYS TO THE STREAK Liberty has won seven straight games, marking the Lady Flames' longest winning streak since the team posted eight consecutive victories between Jan. 16-Feb. 9, 2016. Keyen Green is averaging 18.3 ppg and 8.3 rpg during the streak, shooting 70.1 percent from the field and 74.1 percent from the foul line. The Lady Flames have held all seven opponents to 56 points or fewer, allowing just 45.7 ppg over the winning streak. Liberty has won the rebounding battle in all seven victories, enjoying a +13.9 rebound margin during the winning streak. LADY FLAMES IN THE BIG SOUTH Liberty is alone atop the Big South standings at 11-1. If Liberty wins on Tuesday, the Lady Flames would clinch a first-round bye and a top-four seed for the Big South Women's Basketball Championship. The Lady Flames have now recorded 10 or more Big South wins for 19 straight seasons. Chattanooga, Green Bay and Stanford are the nation's only other teams which entered 2017-18 with an active streak of 18 straight seasons with 10+ wins within the same conference. ON THIS DATE: Liberty is 6-9 all-time when playing on Feb. 13, having lost its last two games played on the date. FEB. 13 The only previous Liberty-Radford matchup on Feb. 13 resulted in an 84-48 Highlanders victory, Feb. 13, 1984 at the Dedmon Center. Tracie Wooldridge posted 14 points and 11 rebounds for Liberty, but the Lady Flames committed 26 turnovers. Radford's stat leaders were Nan Millner (20 points, 8 rebounds) and Cindy Warring (19 points, 9 rebounds). Liberty is 223-131 all-time in February, including 124-15 under Carey Green and 3-0 this season. 3
