Congratulations go to Francesca M, Zara G, Amber B, Gaby M, Pippa C and Hannah K for an excellent competition. Good luck to you all in your preparations for the regional finals. The Intermediate team (Year 9 & 10) came 5 th and narrowly missed selection for the regional finals. Congratulations to Amelia M, Sophia L, Ciara Sand Tay B for their 100% commitment. We would like to wish Olivia T a speedy recovery and look forward to seeing her back training with the team again soon.

Cricket Academy Our new Cricket Academy has been running this term on a Friday after school. Over 40 girls from both Junior and Senior schools have been learning new skills of the game. We are very excited about the introduction of the game to our curriculum and extra-curricular timetable, and look forward to plenty of cricket fixtures in the summer term. Gymnastics The Gymnastics extra-curricular sessions are up and running with our coach Natasha, and the girls are working hard on their floor and vault routines for the Surrey and GDST competitions later on this academic year. The first competition of the year was the Surrey Tumbling held on Friday 5 October, for U9, U11, U13 and U15 age groups. All our girls performed well with some great improvement. Well done girls and good luck for your floor and vault competitions later this year.

Hockey The Hockey season is in full flow for all of our teams. The U19s played in the Surrey Hockey Trophy recently, and had an excellent day. They played City of London Freeman s School in the rounds winning 2-0, Ibstock Place and finally Reeds who we also beat 4-0. In the Semi Final, we played Streatham and Clapham High School and won 1-0. We then played Ibstock Place again in the final; unfortunately losing 2-0 but the girls played extremely well all day and deserved their runners up position in the trophy competition. A special mention must go to Leah W who was top goal scorer for the day! A fabulous 5 goals scored throughout the tournament. Next half term we look forward to plenty of friendly matches as well as the U15 GDST Rally and the East Grinstead tournaments. Laser Shooting We have started our minibus service to Whitgift Pentathlon Academy on a Monday after school, for girls to attend laser shooting training sessions. This is becoming more and more popular amongst our girls, and it is a privilege to be working closely with Laura Gomersall at Whitgift to be able to offer this service to our girls. If you would like your daughter to try laser shooting for the first time, please contact Laura at Whitgift for further information - gomersalllj@whitgift.co.uk

The Netball season got off to a flying start this year. Netball We hosted the U11 A-E Tournament this half term. Six different schools were invited - Sydenham High, St David s (Purley), Granville, St Christopher s, Old Palace, and Cumnor House - a total of 22 teams. All of our girls in Year 6 competed across 5 teams. A great experience for them and fantastic that every single girl had the experience of playing competitively in a netball tournament. What a start for the U12s who have just entered the senior school. They are displaying much enthusiasm for the game and there is certainly a lot of potential amongst them. All teams remain undefeated after their first 2 school matches. The U13s, U15s and U19s entered into the Independent Schools National Netball Cup. In the first round matches, the U13s played King Edwards Southampton and won 22-20 in a very tense final quarter. The U15 team were given a bye in the first round and look forward to their 2 nd round game after half term and the senior team lost in a competitive game against Latymer Upper. The U13 team won the Bromley High versatility tournament. The U14 A, B and C teams had a wonderful weekend away at Condover Hall, Shropshire at the very beginning of term and they certainly bonded well! Congratulations must go to the A team who finished as runners up of this tournament. The U15s travelled to Northampton for the annual GDST rally and they played their hearts out all day. They finished 7 th out of 23 teams with only a couple of narrow losses. This team has such exciting potential. On Thursday 11 October, the U14 and U15s had their Surrey Netball tournament at Surbiton High School. Both teams played very well and won the majority of matches against tough opposition. The U19s played in their Surrey Tournament on Friday 5 October. They had a tough draw and played against some teams who played in the regional rounds last year. However, our girls, in a newly formed team, played well and showed promising signs for the future.

Swimming Our first Swimming gala of the year took place on Tuesday 9 October v Woldingham for our U12 and U13 A & B teams. With full teams, we took on Woldingham at home and had a very convincing performance all-round. We won both age groups with a huge final score. Well done girls, we very much look forward to future galas. Our senior girls also performed brilliantly in the qualification round for the English Schools Swimming Championships. Our junior freestyle and medley teams finished in 2 nd place and our intermediate teams finished 1 st and 2 nd in the freestyle and medley relays respectively. The teams are now crossing their fingers to see if they have qualified for National finals. Our junior school swimming squad travelled to Northampton for the GDST Swimming gala. Our finalists were as follows - Bethan W 4th 50m Breaststroke Olivia M 5th 50m Butterfly Ella O 2nd 25m Backstroke Josie L 3rd 25 m Breaststroke B Team Medley Relay 3 rd place B Team Free Relay 4 th place Congratulations girls well done for making 6 finals and congratulations to Year 4 Josie who has a very bright future in the pool. Tennis Our Year 7 & Year 8 LTA Tennis Team consisting of Sienna M, Lauren B, Eloise C, Pippa C and Hannah K qualified for the finals of this competition after playing some excellent tennis, both singles and doubles, in the summer term. The latter rounds of this competition were played early in this term. We played Kingston Grammar in the semi-finals, and won convincingly. We were then due to play Ibstock place, but they gave us a bye and the girls then faced Tormead in the final. We played at home and it was an extremely close match. There were some fantastic rallies across all courts and although we did not win, we were very proud of our girls fighting for every point. Well done to you all! We are lucky enough this year to be continuing our tennis coaching with Paul throughout the autumn term. Paul is in school on the following days and if your daughter would like to join one of Paul s sessions please contact pcoopertennis@hotmail.co.uk Junior School Reception to Year 3 - Thursdays - 3.30pm- 4.30pm Year 3 & 4 Tuesdays - 12.30pm-1.00pm Year 5 & 6 Thursdays - 12.30pm-1.00pm Reception, Year 1 & 2 Fridays 12.30pm-1.00pm Senior School Year 7 Tuesdays - 1.00pm 1.30pm Year 8 & 9 Fridays - 1.00pm 1.30pm Click here for all sports results
