Plan to come out and watch the best paddle players in the country battle to win it all. Thursday, March 7 All Day Women s and Men s President s Cup play Each region in the country fields a team who plays against the other regions. This format is similar to our league play with 5 lines per match. Fran Bolanis, Kelly Fischer and Sarah Stallings are playing for our Region 4 women s team, and Scott Kahler for the men s team. Tom Wiese and Dan Hersch are playing for the Region 8 team. Matches are tallied by line and one region wins in the end. It s a battle for bragging rights. Women are playing in the Sewickley area, and the men are in the Fox Chapel area. Friday, March 8 Main Draw match play begins for the women at 8:00 AM and the men at 11:00 AM. Play will occur at courts all across the city. Visit www.platformtennisonline.org to follow players on live scoring and know when and where their matches are happening. Come out to the Racquet Club in the afternoon to watch some great early round matches! Saturday, March 9 The action gears up on Saturday, making this a great day to come out and watch. Main Draw matches at the Racquet Club begin around 10:30 with the Women s Quarterfinals followed by the Women s Semifinal matches around 2:00. Then the Men s Quarterfinals matches are scheduled to begin around 4 and 5:30 PM. The action will take place on the temporary courts set up on our tennis courts 1 and 2. The tennis deck will be tented with heaters, the snack shack will be serving warm beverages and snacks, and there will be bleachers for viewing. A BBQ dinner in the clubhouse can be purchased for $25, along with beer and alcohol. Rain or Shine. Hot or Cold. This will be a fun party with great paddle and spectators are wanted! Plan to come out! Sunday, March 10 The men s semifinals start at 9:30 on Sunday, followed by the women s final at 11, and the men s final around 1:00. Local food trucks BRGR and The COOP will be providing lunch for the players and spectators. The snack shack will be open again with beer, wine and Bloody Mary s. We want a large crowd there supporting the sport we love!
PADDLE PATTER Marathon Weekend Our final big event of the paddle season is Paddle Marathon Weekend, starting with the Friday Night Paddle Social on March 15. It continues Saturday, March 16, with the Men s and Women s Championships, and Sunday, March 17, with the Mixed Doubles Championships. This will be the 14 th marathon paddle event. If you participate in all three events, you will receive the coveted gold pin and a $10 discount. Be sure to wear all of your past pins to the Friday Night Social! Cost for the Friday Kickoff party is $30; Championships are $25 each. Reservations Only! Sign up at www.foxchapelracquetclub.com. Paddle lessons will continue to be available for those who want to sharpen their skills. Please lock the paddle lodge doors when you leave. We wouldn t want any unwelcome visitors stopping in during the night. Common courtesy dictates that you and your fellow paddlers please clean up your empty containers, napkins, etc. before you leave. Congratulations to Women s Team 4 with Captain Tara Tramontina, for successfully reaching first place in Division 4. Congratulations also to Women s Team 5, with Captain Kelley Clark, who clinched first place in Division 6. Congratulations also to Women s Team 6, Division 8 with Captain Nancy Delaney, for ending the season in first place.

The top surface of the court consists of a mixture of both fine and coarse material plus a binder. The sub surface of the court is built to hold moisture. All of this preparation is done carefully, and not rushed, to guarantee that we have the finest tennis courts available all season long. Please be patient during the maintenance season and we will get you on the courts as soon as we can. Of course, Mother Nature dictates when we can work on the courts. Get your little grippers and aspiring young tennis players ready and dressed for the courts this season! On Saturday, April 27, visit the Club for Meet/Greet! Get information about the junior tennis program and pick up new tennis whites for your kids.
SOCIAL SCENE Pub Night and Movies, Friday, March 22 We had a great turnout for our Pub Night in February, lots of people and lots of fun! Sign up early. Easter Egg Hunt and Luncheon, Sunday, April 14 Fun for the kids and fun for the adults! Delicious luncheon served in the clubhouse and lots of colorful eggs and prizes scattered on the grounds. Sign up on the web and list how many adults and children will be in your party. MEMBERSHIP MEMO This is the time of year to propose your friends and neighbors for membership. You may contact Pat at the Club office to get the process started and to get your name on the agenda for the next admissions meeting. Couples ages 37 and up are considered full memberships, with initiation fees of $6,900 and dues at $299/month. The initiation fees can be paid in full; split into four consecutive months; or monthly payment plans up to two years. Married couples under the age of 37 are offered membership at a reduced rate for initiation fees and dues. Initiation fees for single memberships are also figured at reduced rates.
