Foundation School Headteacher: Mr D Reeve BSc (Hons) Dear Parent/Carer, THE BISHOP S STORTFORD HIGH SCHOOL London Road Bishop s Stortford Hertfordshire CM23 3LU Telephone: 01279 868686 Fax: 01279 868687 Email: office@tbshs.org Website: www.tbshs.org 8th March2019 Senior Rugby Tour to Argentina July-August 2021 It is our pleasure to be able to offer the opportunity to boys from the current Years 9, 10 and 11 rugby squads to take part in a 15 day, 14 night tour to Argentina. The school has undertaken a senior rugby tour every 3 years and previous tours have visited New Zealand, Australia and South Africa. We are very excited to be offering Argentina as a new destination for TBSHS and this has proved an unforgettable destination for other schools that have toured there previously. We have decided to travel to Argentina for our rugby tour as it offers a unique opportunity for our boys to experience the local culture and way of life. With the national team playing in the Rugby Championship and Tier 1 nations regularly touring the standard of playing opposition will be high. The tour will include time in the capital, Buenos Aires as well as Tandil, finishing at the magnificent Iguazu Falls. We will play four rugby fixtures on the tour against equally matched opposition and will train on a number of occasions. In order to make the offer of the tour, we have teamed up with Living With The Lions (LWTL). We have chosen to tour with this company as they were recommended to the school, work with a number of the top schools in the UK and were most competitive with pricing. They are fully bonded by ABTA and ATOL and are assured members of the School Travel Forum that overseas health and safety in school travel. Our representative from the LWTL will present at the information evening for parents and can give a bit more background on the company. Current cost for the tour is estimated at 3,014.00 The tour has been costed for 42 students and 5 members of staff. To minimise fund raising we have ensured that the tour is half board and all excursions are included in the price. This means that the only items left to raise money for and/or get sponsorship are transport to and from Heathrow airport and players touring kit. As the senior rugby kit is now aligned to that which we take on tour, many pupils will already have the required kit, further reducing the funds that need to be raised. We will be holding a Tour Information Evening in the Main School Hall at 7.30pm on Monday 25 th March, which will be an opportunity for parents, carers and students alike to gather more information about the proposed itinerary, commitment, and fund raising required to come on tour. The evening will also include an opportunity to ask any questions that you may have to staff, as well as to a representative of LWTL. It is hoped that the evening will enable you to make an informed and objective decision as to whether you wish to take up the opportunity of the tour. To enable us to plan effectively, could I please ask that you fill in the register of interest indicating whether or not you would be interested in your son coming on tour, as well as if you will be attending the Tour Information Evening. I should clearly state that filling in and returning the clarification of interest form and/or attending the Tour Information Evening is by no means a confirmation of commitment to come on tour, it allows us to get a feel for the potential number of students who may tour. Attendance at the Tour Information Evening along with your son is strongly advised if you are interested in your son coming on tour, to enable you to gain more information, ask questions of school staff and those of LWTL, and to help you to make an informed decision on if you wish for your son to join the touring squad. In the meantime, if you have any questions or need any further information, please do not hesitate to contact me at any time on david.paine@tbshs.org Yours faithfully David Paine (Head of Rugby) TBSHS: A truly all-round education
