Tenterfield Show Society invites you to participate in the 2019 Tenterfield Showgirl Competition. The Showgirl movement provides opportunities for young women to become involved in their local communities as rural ambassadors. If you are lucky enough to become a local Showgirl, a Zone finalist or even the Royal Sydney Show finalist or winner, you will be amazed at the personal and professional opportunities that the Showgirl Competition can open up for you. WHY BECOME AN ENTRANT IN THE SHOWGIRL COMPETITION? The answer is simple, young women have known for years that Local Shows are the most direct form of self-promotion and the best medium for expanding their career and personal ambitions. The Showgirl movement in NSW is a time honoured and respected competition and today over 1000 young women enter the competition through their local Shows annually. THIS IS AN EVENT NOT TO BE MISSED Register Now for the 2019 Tenterfield Show Society Showgirl Competition. Below is an overview of the 2019 Tenterfield Showgirl Competition: All entrants are to abide by the Show Girls Code of Conduct, as set by the Royal Agricultural Society and Agricultural Shows Council, when acting as an Ambassador for the RAS and the ASC, or their local Show Society. Judging for the 2019 Tenterfield Showgirl is an ongoing process and will continue after the formal judging date. Entrants will be observed on their community contributions towards the Show Society in preparation for the 2019 Tenterfield Show. Being chosen as the 2019 Tenterfield Showgirl and then proceeding to the next level is a very rewarding and educational experience, but it can also be a daunting one. The 2019 Tenterfield Showgirl Committee are here to assist in your preparation for the Showgirl Competition. The winning Entrant, who is employed or engaged in fulltime study, will be required to obtain leave of absence to attend Zone and State Finals Judging. Zone judging will be in February of 2020. State finalists spend 5 days in Sydney as a guest of the RAS over the Sydney Royal Easter Show. Whilst in Sydney you will attend functions, activities and present awards to winners of agriculture at the Royal Easter Show.
JUDGING CRITERIA The criteria on which Showgirls are judged is below: Personality Confidence Ambitions/Goals General Knowledge Presentation Diction/Speech Knowledge of Local Area Community Contribution Local and Current Affairs Some examples of questions you may be asked during your Showgirl interview are below: Are you employed or studying? Discussion on your part of the country Primary Production Areas of local Interest Current Affairs topics, State, Federal, International Hobbies, Sport and Leisure Commitments. Community and Volunteer involvements. General knowledge Your view of the Show girl competition? Why have you entered? What does the RAS and ASC stand for? What have you to offer the Tenterfield Show Society if you are the winner? The Tenterfield Showgirl Committee are here to help contestants and previous Showgirl winners will be available as mentors for contestants.

FORM B - ELIGIBILITY ALL ENTRANTS SHOULD READ AND COMPLETE THE FOLLOWING 1. The Competition is open to contestants who are permanent residents of Australia and reside in Tenterfield or surrounding areas. 2. Entrants must be aged 18 years and under 24 years as of 1 st May, 2019. 3. All entrants must be available to attend the Tenterfield Show on the 8 th, 9 th & 10 th February 2019 and must be available to attend judging on 2 nd December 2019. 4. The Tenterfield Showgirl is welcome to become a member of the Tenterfield Show Society and is invited to attend General Committee and Showgirl Committee Meetings and carry out all other voluntary duties as and when required. 5. The Tenterfield Showgirl becomes the Tenterfield Show Society Ambassador for the next 12 months and must be prepared to promote and support the Showgirl Competition and the Show Society. 6. The Tenterfield Showgirl will be required to submit her resume, photograph and completed RAS Showgirl Forms before closing date of entries. 7. The successful entrant must be available to attend the Zone Final Judging in February 2020. 8. Only candidates nominated by an Agricultural Show Society are eligible for Zone and State Final Judging. 9. State Finals prizes are not transferable and must be taken within 12 months of receiving the prize. 10. The State Final Judging will take place in Sydney. Finalists will be asked to arrive no later than the appointed time (to be confirmed). 11. The winner of the competition is expected to remain in Sydney at the expense of the RAS for the duration of the Sydney Royal Easter Show. Other finalists may leave after the completion of the competition. 12. In the event of the Tenterfield Showgirl moving from Tenterfield or surrounding areas, or being unable to fulfil the above responsibilities, at the discretion of the Tenterfield Show Society, the position and responsibilities of the Tenterfield Showgirl will also be awarded to the next most suited candidate.
