EXPRESS
The Sabre 42 Express was introduced at the Miami International Boat Show and immediately drew rave comments from the press, our dealers and the public. All agreed that the Sabre Design Team had achieved levels of performance and comfort that allow the Sabre 42 Express to stand out amongst her competitors. A careful and deliberate consumer study led the Sabre Design Team to the one particular conclusion that buyers of this type of Express Cruiser expect a smooth performance, a quiet helm deck while running and substantial levels of comfort when both underway and at rest. By raising the helmsman s sight line to exceed industry norms, providing Stidd helm and mate s seats and working diligently to eliminate noise and vibration sources, Sabre Yachts has delivered a truly exceptional design. In actual trials, her hull proved sea kindly and dry with only small amounts of wind blown spray reaching the windshield. Her 16 degree deep-vee hull shape with prop pockets allows a smooth ride even when the sea conditions are rough. A complete sea trial report is available from any Sabre dealer or on our web site at www.sabreyachts.com. For 2009, Sabre introduces the Zeus Pod drive system to the Sabre 42 Hard Top Express. Zeus drive pods increase efficiency, reduce noise levels and improve low speed maneuverability. The hull of the Sabre 42 is built with vacuum bagged closed cell PVC foam core, making it one of the lightest yet strongest structures available. The technique of vacuum bagged hull coring reduces unnecessary weight and increases stiffness, while the use of structural E glass in the laminate schedule creates a carefully engineered, reliable and durable structure. The main salon of the Sabre 42 Express provides a large and luxurious space in which to entertain or relax at the end of a pleasant day on the water. Sabre s storied heritage of fine craftsmanship is evident in the inlaid bird s eye maple table and in all of the hand built furniture. Several cupboards and drawers are found outboard and under the seating surfaces. Stainless steel opening port lights and large overhead Lewmar hatches provide ample ventilation and light, and Ocean Air blinds block out heat or light when required. High quality lighting adds another touch of elegance to this luxurious space.
The comfortable master stateroom can be configured as a pedestal berth or as a vee-berth with filler. Several drawers and lockers, as well as a cedar lined hanging locker, offer ample space for personal belongings. Old world, handbuilt wood working details such as dovetailed drawer boxes and laminated trims on berth top and counters add a sense of luxury and heritage to this cabin. The head compartment includes a stall shower with clear circular enclosure. The Corian counter provides a long lasting and beautiful surface to the vanity, and outboard there are many storage spaces for toiletries and linens. Ventilation is provided by a hatch and one stainless steel opening portlight in the cabin side.
Located at the base of the companionway and in close proximity to the helm deck is a fully equipped galley. A convection microwave oven, ceramic cook top and fridge/freezer offer all of the tools needed to create memorable meals aboard. And there are many drawers, lockers and storage bins in which to store provisions. In working on the design for this yacht, the Sabre Design Team identified the second cabin as a high priority. A large space for the second cabin was created by offsetting the companionway to port. This provided our designers with enough space for a full double berth. Drawers under the berth and lockers above provide ample storage space. A large custom stainless steel port and an overhead hatch provide plenty of light and air.
On the helm deck, Stidd helm and mate chairs are comfortable places for long passages, and, at rest, can swivel to become easy chairs and part of the social setting around a beautiful inlaid cockpit table. The Ultraleather covered settees are a popular place to sit both underway and at rest. Below the L-settee are dry storage spaces for additional stores or equipment. An optional teak deck is available. Safety, security and comfort remain a priority in the design of the Sabre 42 Express. From the moment you step aboard, you will be on secure footing and within reach of a handhold. Wide side decks, large diameter hand rails and a raised teak toe rail make movement around the deck both secure and comfortable. On her foredeck, there is a well thought out anchoring Sabre 42 Express with hard back enclosure setup with rollers for both primary and secondary anchors. On centerline, a standard anchor windlass is provided with rope chain gipsy and windlass controls are placed both here and at the helm station. Alongside the windlass platform there are two large lockers for dockline and fender stowage.
Premium quality deck fittings include custom stainless steel air intakes and portlights, and highly polished aluminum deck hatches. Large opening side windows offer an expansive view of the water around the yacht.
