24 August, 2009 Phone 07 4039 3143 Issue 10 WELCOME To Issue 10 of the CCHP NEWSLETTER It s hard to believe that Father s Day is just around the corner and that the shops will be filled with Christmas goods once they have cleared the shelves of all the Old Spice aftershave, hankies and socks. Looking for a Father s Day gift with a difference - Why not surprise Dad with a CCHP riding lesson voucher! You might like to start taking more notice of the advertisements on the sides of the local Sunbuses. CCHP has just finalized ads for two buses. They should be on the road in September. Karen is taking a week s holiday next week and is under strict instructions from her husband and Melanie not to take the laptop with her. Should you have any queries that you would normally make of Karen please ask Mel instead - her email is melanie@crystalcascadeshorsepark.com.au Congratulations to Erin and Sarah who competed at the FNEG Dressage Championships in early August. Erin and Ordos (Jack) won Reserve Champion in the Official Novice Classes and Elementary Classes. Sarah and Stylesetter (Oscar) won Reserve Champion in the Associate Preliminary and Novice Classes. Unfortunately children under 8 yrs are not able to participate. Minimum group size is 4 riders, maximum is 8 riders. 3 hour session including intro lesson and morning/afternoon tea $125pp. Please enquire about our locals and family discounts. Take a personal guided ride through our picturesque 100 acre property. We are one of the last truly rural properties in the Freshwater Valley. Our rides meander beside cool clear creeks, through rainforest and grassland and provide glorious views of the Valley. Group Lessons we are planning additional group lessons for Term 4. Please register your interest on the form located in the office. Please note that your instructor will be required to support your request for a group lesson. School Holidays We have some exciting new programs planned for our regular CCHP junior riders in the September Holidays. As well as our regular Horsemanship Programs we will be offering Jump Club, Dressage Club and Games Club as well as trail rides for children over 8 years. Full details will be issued in early September. Part-Time Horse Leases Apologies to those clients who have been waiting for the release of our Part-Time Horse Lease agreement. The agreement is 85% complete. Due to the complex nature of horse leases and the need to ensure benefit to both parties (lessee and lessor) and minimise risk the agreement has taken longer to develop than originally envisaged. As soon as it is finalised it will be issued to those clients that have already expressed interest in leasing a CCHP horse.
REVISED LESSON PAYMENT AND CANCELLATION POLICY (EFFECTIVE 26 JANUARY 2009) Lesson Payments Please note that prior payment is required to confirm your future lesson bookings. If you pay by cash or direct debit, payment must be received prior to the lesson. If you provide your credit card details these will be kept on file and processed at your request when you arrive for your lesson. If you have provided credit card details to secure your lesson we will accept cash/cheque on the day if this is your preferred method of payment. Please let us know if your credit card details are not on file or have changed and have our assurance that your details are safe, secure and only required for the 48 hour cancellation policy. *Discounts will only be given for payment of lessons in blocks of 5 or more* Lesson Cancellations We have extended the cancellation period to 48 hours as we found it difficult to resell lessons with only 24 hours notice. The 48 hour cancellation policy is unbiased and applies to all clients to keep it fair for all. If you have any questions with relation to this policy please feel free to contact Karen (0438 174 573) to discuss. Horse riding may be a leisure activity for you, but for CCHP it is our main source of income and imperative in buying feed, horse care needs and everyday running costs associated with keeping a Horse Riding School in business. To keep our doors open for business cancellation of your private riding lesson or pony ride at least 48 hours prior to your lesson time will attract a $20 cancellation fee. (In the case of pony rides a $10 cancellation fee will apply). If you cancel your private riding lesson or pony ride in less than 48 hours prior to your lesson time, you must pay the entire lesson fee. Lesson cancellations outside of the 48 hour time frame attract no charge. If you are unable to make your group lesson and provide at least 48 hours notice you will be able to reschedule a private makeup lesson. You will be required to pay the difference between your group lesson and the private lesson fee. One makeup lesson will be allowed per client per term. If you cancel your private or group lesson in less than 48 hours prior to your lesson time, you must pay the entire lesson fee. Please understand that most days we are full and many people request times that other clients want and then they cancel so we lose $ and disappoint other clients. INTERNET TRANSFERS If you are paying for lessons via internet banking please remember to use your surname in the reference section. CCHP bank account details are: Acc. Name Crystal Cascades Horse Park BSB: 064-804 Account No. 1329-1710 Please ensure to send us an email advising that you have internet banked your payment including lesson dates that the payment refers to: cchpadmin@crystalcascadeshorsepark.com.au A reminder to all staff and agistees Please remember that the speed limit on the property is 10klm an hour. This limit is in place to ensure the safety of staff, horses, riders, wildlife and other road users. It also minimises dust that can be harmful to both horse and human. Please also ensure that all gates are kept closed at all times. Question: How much weight can a horse carry? Staff at CCHP have been researching how much weight a horse can carry without its back, joints etc being put under stress resulting in soreness and lameness. Answer: A horse can carry 20% of its body weight ie. 400kg horse can carry 80kgs (rider and tack). For safety and welfare reasons we are currently calculating the weight of all our horses and ponies so that we can establish safe weight limits for them to carry.
Footwear - Please remember that all visitors to the CCHP facilities must wear covered footwear at all times ie. sandshoes/riding boots whether you are participating in a riding lesson or just spectating. Clothing - All riders must wear a t-shirt with at least short sleeves that cover the shoulders no singlet tops. This is for protection against weather and abrasions. All riders must wear long pants ie. Jeans or leggings. Wearing shorts may cause rubbing or pinching where the skin is exposed to the saddle. No Smoking - For the health of horses, staff and clients, smoking is strictly prohibited on the CCHP premises. THIS ALSO INCLUDES THE CARPARK AREA. Bookings Please ensure you check with reception before you leave after your lesson to confirm your next booking. This is very important for those of you who have booked a block of lessons as we don t want you to be disappointed if you turn up for a lesson when your block has actually been used up. Whilst we will endeavour to let you know before this happens your bookings are your responsibility. Lesson Times In order not to inconvenience other clients we MUST commence lessons on time. We cannot delay lesson start times as we are fully booked. Please ensure you arrive at least 10 minutes prior to your booked lesson time. This is extremely important if you participate in Group Lessons. If you arrive late for your lessons your lesson times will be reduced so as not to run into the next lesson. Full payment for the lesson will be required. If you are more than 15 minutes late for your lesson the lesson will not take place, however, full payment will be required. Conduct Please remember that horses are easily startled. If you are waiting for your lesson to begin please wait quietly in the reception area. Please respect your horse and coach at all times they both work very hard to make your time at CCHP enjoyable and rewarding. Parents please ensure children do not make excessive noise whilst waiting for their lesson. Children Being Dropped Off At CCHP All children being dropped off for lessons and picked up later by a parent or guardian are now required to sign them in and out. This is so the CCHP staff are aware of who is on the premises at all times. The register is located at Reception. We also ask that you drop off/pick up your children as near as possible to lesson start/finish time. As CCHP staff are generally busy there is not always someone around to keep an eye on them this is for their own safety. Kids Corner Just for a Giggle! A cowboy goes into a bar, has a beer, walks outside and finds his horse has been stolen. He walks back into the bar, fires his gun through the ceiling. "Which one of you cowboys stole my hoss?" he yells. No one answers. "All right, I m gonna have one more beer and if my hoss ain t outside by the time I finish, I m gonna do what I dun in Texas." He drinks another beer, walks outside, and his horse is back. So he gets on it and gets ready to ride out of town. The bartender walks out of the bar and asks, "Say pardner, what happened in Texas?" The cowboy turns to him, and says, "I had to walk home." Q: How do you make a small fortune in the horse business? A: Start with a large fortune. 10 THINGS YOU WON'T HEAR YOUR HORSE SAY: 1.
