GSBYRA expectations of junior instructors to be covered. d. J. Zambriski to help develop class outline. 3. Racing schedule 2016 New Business a. Narrasketuck declines participation in Junior Race Week, willing to host Friday regatta. b. Babylon is willing to give up Friday regatta on July 1 to participate in Junior Race Week. c. Junior race week schedule of South Bay WaterSports à Babylon à Bay Shore. Club boards will be approached. d. Sayville board approved holding Race Week at their location. Discussed holding other events in conjunction with race week in order to increase participation including Raven Nationals. Other fleets will be approached. e. Race week will use electronic registration. On site registration is possible but early registration is requested. f. Discussed need for safety boats on the courses. g. Proposed schedule is attached. 1. Junior bay championships will be open however, only the boat that finishes first will be supported financially by the GSBYRA if they go forward. 2. Request to change the status of the GSBYRA Facebook to a public page to make it easier for people to communicate. The Secretary will look into it. 3. M. MARYANN DEERING PROPOSALS TO DELEGATES OF GSBYRA Delegates have 2 months to present proposals to their club Boards of Directors/Trustees before Delegates vote at GSBYRA meeting in accordance with their club decision. Vote will be held for all delegates at the February 2016 meeting. PROPOSAL #1 GSBYRA CHAMPIONSHIPS - GSBYRA updated eligibility periodically over the years to comply with US Sailing 1. Create GSBYRA Adult Championship and update eligibility to comply with US Sailing Adult Championship: Award Fenner Trophy to top team helmed by a male crew may be male or female Award Morgan Trophy to top team helmed by a female crew may be male or female Helmsperson and crew must have reached their 19 th birthday in the calendar year to be eligible Each club may enter an unlimited number of teams GSBYRA will support only one team with financial aid to represent GSBYRA at US Sailing Adult National 2. Update Patin Championship: Each club may enter an unlimited number of entries 3. Update GSBYRA Financial Policy (See proposed revision on page 2) Desired Outcome: Make proposals for consideration and eventual vote on the above 3 items Increase participation at GSBYRA Championships Additional revenue to GSBYRA fund for financial aid to advance participants to Area B and/or US Sailing National Championships PROPOSAL #2 SENIOR RACE WEEK 1. Sayville as venue for Race Week 2016. 2. Make Race Week a requirement for one leg of the Flying Scot Long Island Championship. 3. Contact JY15 and Flying Scot Associations to have one of their regional or North American Championships as part of GSBYRA Race Week. 4. GSBYRA designs and sells a T-shirt for Race Week included in entry fee for all competitors. 5. Use Regatta Network for registration Tracks T-Shirt sizes for skipper and crew members Regatta Network takes 5 percent of entry fee Post signs with QR code for Race Week at each club 6. BBQ with live music open to competitors and non-competitors as a GSBYRA social event Use Regatta Network for BBQ reservations BBQ fee to include Regatta Network 7 percent 7. Increase Race Week Entry Fee to include T-shirt, lunch, and Regatta Network percentage Entry Fee dependent on number of crew 8. Score with Regatta Network Class scoring Portsmouth number scoring for one design handicap PHRF scoring Desired Outcome: Propose the above for consideration and eventual vote Make Race Week special Increase local participation Expand participation to competitors beyond Great South Bay
PROPOSAL #3 Proposed revision for consideration: Policy of Financial Assistance to Advance from GSBYRA Championships Great South Bay Yacht Racing Association promotes participation in its GSBYRA Championships. The entry fees from the GSBYRA Championships are segregated into a separate account to provide financial assistance according to the following policy. GSBYRA commits to pay the Borrowed boat insurance, and Incidental fees charged by the event, for the winner of each of the following GSBYRA Championships: Midget Singlehanded (Orr), Midget Doublehanded (Picken), to advance to the corresponding Middle Atlantic Midget Championships; and for the winner of the following GSBYRA Championships: Junior Singlehanded (Shinnecock), Junior Doublehanded (Patin), Junior Triplehanded (Gulden), Singlehanded (Westin), Adult Triplehanded - Men s (Fenner) or Women s (Morgan), Match Racing Triplehanded (Furman) to advance to the corresponding Area B Championships. US SAILING mandates all Area B Championships be open. GSBYRA sailors who bypass GSBYRA Championships and GSBYRA sailors who compete in the GSBYRA Championships and are not the winner shall compete at their own expense at Area B or the US Sailing National Championship. For a GSBYRA sailor who competed in the GSBYRA Championships and subsequently wins an Area B Championship (if an Area B is held) to advance to the corresponding US Sailing National Championship: Junior Singlehanded - Smythe, Junior Doublehanded - Bemis, Junior Triplehanded/Quadruplehanded - Sears, Singlehanded - O Day, US Adult Championship - Mallory, Match Racing - Prince of Wales. GSBYRA commits to pay: Borrowed boat insurance, Incidental fees charged by the event, and Coach Airfare. GSBYRA commits to provide trophies on a rotating basis with the other invited organizations for the Midget Challenge, the Junior Challenge, and the Middle Atlantic Midget Championships.
