Come and experience a totally new and fun way to put mileage in your athletes legs! Create teams of 3 (see specifications in the Race Divisions section) within your team s roster and have each of your (High School) athletes run a 2K loop. (*Each leg of the Intermediate division will run a 1K loop.) After the Relays, athletes will be able to challenge our Green Monster - Green s Creek Hill! RACE DIVISIONS: INTERMEDIATE GRADES 7 & 8 Race distance : 3x 1000m + OPEN HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS GRADES 9, 10, 11 & 12 Race distance : 3x 2000m + OPEN HIGH SCHOOL BOYS GRADES 9, 10, 11 & 12 Race distance : 3x 2000m + RELAY TEAM ENTRY: Teams must have a 3 runners per relay teams to be entitled enter the relay races. Coaches, make sure your athletes are aware of which relay teams they are on. (ie.: MySchool-A, MySchool-B, MySchool-C, etc.). School can enter an unlimited numbers of relay teams per divisions. For every relay races, only the first 3 relay teams of a same school is allowed to score points. The other teams will keep their rankings and will not displace. The lowest team score determines the overall team rankings. All team members must finish their loop to qualify for a team score. REGISTRATION PROCESS: 1K SPRINT CHALLENGE: Visit www.trackie.com, click on TrackieReg and then Find Event at the top of your screen and enter Louis-Riel. Continue on with the regular entry process. THE RELAY RACE START: Athletes should be in the start area 15 minutes before the schedule race start time. Runners should be wearing their correct bib (wrong bib = no time/no ranking) pinned to the FRONT of their SCHOOL shirt. In the start area, the race starter will give the following start time notices: 2 Blasts of AIR HORN = 10 minutes to the start of the race 1 Blast of AIR HORN = 5 minutes to the start of the race Multiple Quick WHISTLE Signal = 1 minute warning to the start of the race The starter will be situated 50m in front of the start line. All runners should remove warm-ups starting on the 5 minute warning horn and assemble on the start line by the 1 minute whistle signal. Each teams should line up on the start line in running order. THE START: A white flag will be raised into the air 20 seconds before the race start which will then be followed by an AIR HORN BLAST to begin the race. Should any athlete fall in the early stages of the race start, series of WHISTLE AND AIR HORN blasts will signal the stop of the race and runners will return to the start line to repeat the process of the start. The course will be clearly marked. The paths will be fenced with cords and flagged with RED and LIME GREEN flags. RED FLAGS WILL BE THE ATHLETE S RIGHT SIDE and LIME GREEN FLAGS WILL BE ON THE ATHLETE S LEFT SIDE. No runners will get lost or wander off course. Awards will be given IMMEDIATELY after each races. Team score will be compiled and final results will be posted on the patio. THE EXCHANGE: The exchange zone, 30m in lenght, will be delimited by orange cones on both side of the path. At the moment of the exchange, the incoming athlete will pass the baton to the outgoing athlete. After finishing his/her leg, the athlete will have step off the path without interfering with other incoming athletes. Failure to do so will result in the team s disqualification. RELAYS SCORING: All 3 athletes MUST finish their leg of the race to qualify for a team score. Only the top 3 relay teams from a same school are eligible to score point. In the event of a tie, it shall be resolved in favour of the team whose third team finishes nearest first place. Scoring for Overall Champions will be determined by place finishes in the divisional races and the following point system will be used : 1st = 15pts, 2nd = 14pts, 3rd = 13pts, 4th = 12pts, 5th = 11pts, 6th = 10pts, 7th = 9pts, 8th = 8pts, 9th = 7pts, 10th = 6pts, 11th = 5pts, 12th = 4pt, 13th = 3pts, 14th = 2pts, 15th = 1pt The winning school will have accumulated the most points in the Open High School Girls & Open High School Boys divisions combined. (Same scoring system for the Intermediate divisions. The Intermediate points will not be carried over to the High School divisions points.) THE 1K SPRINT CHALLENGE START: Athletes should be in the start area 15 minutes before the schedule race start time. Runners should be wearing their correct bib (wrong bib = no time/no ranking) pinned to the FRONT of their SCHOOL shirt. Starter will be situated at proximity of the start line. Starting commands for this event will be On your marks followed by the gun (or air horn). NOTE: We will run multiple heats of the events if, in the same division, entry numbers exceeds any security logistics. Heat assignment and start time will be sent to coaches the day prior to the meet. Please inform your athletes of the heat they re in. Heat sheets will also be posted on site. On the other hand, if entry numbers permits, we may opt to combined both genders within the same division. We ve done this in the past and it creates a better sense of competition and great results for your athletes. (Results will be divided based on your athletes gender and division). SCORING: There won t be any team scoring for the Open 1000m King and Queen of the Hill Sprint Challenge. This is a fun challenge open to all. Bragging rights on the line! 4 Louis-Riel XC Relays
