General Recital Info 2016 RECITAL: Saturday, June 4 at 2pm Doors open at 1:15 pm, Dancers have call time of 1:30 pm Show starts promptly at 2pm Fitch High School 101 Groton Long Point Road Groton, CT 06340 Tickets $12 each cash only, general admission IN CLASS STUDIO DRESS REHEARSAL: Week of May 16-May 21 Each class will have one full run dress rehearsal at the studio during their scheduled class time. Full dress rehearsals in the studio will occur during the week of May 16 May 21, 2016 at the dancers scheduled class time. All dancers should arrive in costume with proper dance shoes. Older dancers ages 10+ should bring a change of dance clothes to class. Make-up and hair done is not necessary for the in class studio dress rehearsal. In class dress rehearsal is also our final parent observation week for the season. DRESS REHEARSAL: Friday, June 3 from 4:15 9:00 pm at Fitch High School Exact call times for each dance performance are posted on the studio board in waiting room and can also be viewed online here. We run the finale once in between ACT I and ACT II around 6:15-6:30 pm. The stage dress rehearsal schedule will follow the show order, however there are a few classes out of order for our younger dancers which is noted on the call time dress rehearsal schedule. Call time, means the dancer should be in full costume, hair and makeup done and sitting in the auditorium with their class (seat isles are labeled by class song). Dress rehearsal is mandatory for all dancers performing in the recital on Saturday. Dancers are required to perform their dance routine as well as perform in the finale at dress rehearsal. Dancers may sit in the audience and watch the dress rehearsal. After the dancer has danced in their class numbers and participated in the finale they are free to go home.

The stage dress rehearsal is NOT open to the public and is a closed rehearsal for the dancers and our staff. Parents and immediate family are allowed to attend and watch. CHANGING AREAS: Friday Dress Rehearsal FEMALES: a portion of the hallway behind the band room will be curtained off for FEMALES to change. Dancers may also use the bathrooms located at the front of the auditorium entrance for changing on Friday. MALES: please use the bathrooms located in the front of the auditorium entrance for changing on Friday. Saturday Recital FEMALES: a dedicated area will be curtained off for FEMALES to change. Same hallway used for Friday, a classroom off the gym, and/or an area within the small gym. MALES: please use the bathrooms located in to the side of the band room for changing or in front entrance of auditorium on Saturday. BACKSTAGE CLASS VOLUNTEERS: As a volunteer you are with the class the entire show, supervising them in the backstage waiting area and helping with any last minute shoe tying, fixing of costume, hair etc. A female should visit their dancer at least once during the show as well as go backstage to help them change accordingly for their performances as it is not the Class Volunteer s responsibility. If you are a class volunteer you do not need a general admission ticket however you do need to check in at recital day to the table Backstage Access/Class Volunteer to receive your wristband. This serves as your access into the backstage area. Your help is very important and appreciated to keep the show running and the students supervised. DANCERS BACKSTAGE: For Saturday s Recital, all dancers have a call time of 1:30 pm. This means they are to be in their assigned backstage area with their class in full costume, hair and makeup. At 1:45 pm we begin roll call and the show starts promptly at 2pm. If your dancer is not present, their class will perform without them. If your dancer performs in Act II they do not have to be in full costume at call time. Dancers should stay in the backstage area until called upon for their number to perform by DI staff. Younger classes have a backstage volunteer with each class and your dancer should report to their class volunteer for bathroom use and any other

questions. There are 2 single individual bathrooms off of the band room and 1 set of female bathrooms off of the small gym (faculty bathrooms). We encourage dancers to bring games, books, electronics to occupy themselves for Saturday. The recital should run approximately 2 hrs and 45 mins including an intermission. Students who are performing are NOT PERMITTED in the auditorium to watch the show. Students may bring NON-messy snacks and water into the backstage waiting area ONLY. NO JUICE BOXES OR MESSY FOODS. Please pick up your area and dispose of any garbage in your dancers area before leaving Friday and Saturday. END OF FINALE ON RECITAL DAY: At the end of the recital, all dancers come back on stage and perform the finale routine. At the conclusion of the finale, all classes under the age of 8 (mommy/daddy & me, combo I ages 3/4, combo II ages 5/6, beg jazz ages 6-8, beg ballet ages 6-8, intro to hip hop ages 6-8) will stay on stage and be seated. We will call for a parent to come retrieve their dancer for each class accordingly to the front right or left side of the stage. For all other dancers, older 9+ yrs old, they will be escorted back to their backstage area and a parent should meet them there at that time. FEMALES BACKSTAGE ACCESS: Females are welcome to the backstage area to assist in changing their child or to check on their child during the show. Please sign up on the studio board for Backstage Access. On recital day, please check in at the front table labeled Backstage Access/Class Volunteer to receive your wristband. ONLY NAMES ON THE LIST WILL BE GIVEN A BACKSTAGE ACCESS WRISTBAND. ONLY THOSE WITH A WRISTBAND WILL BE ALLOWED ACCESS INTO THE BACKSTAGE AREA AS THESE DOORS WILL BE MONITORED DURING THE RECITAL ON SATURDAY. PHOTOGRAPHS AND VIDEO RECORDING: During the dress rehearsal on Friday, you are allowed to take photography or video record while the dancers are dancing. During the recital on Saturday, June 4 there will be NO photography or video recording allowed. You will be asked to leave the auditorium. RECITAL DVD/ BLU RAY:

Marsal Studios is the professional videographer for the show on Saturday, June 4. Pre-order forms are available at the studio or online at http://www.marsalstudios.com/dancersink2016.html REMINDERS WHEN WEARING COSTUMES: No underwear No bra/bra straps showing (only clear) No holes in tights RECITAL DAY QUICK CHANGE AREA: No colored nail polish No chewing gum on stage No tattoos or body art No jewelry EXCEPT stud earrings If your dancer has 3 numbers or less in between routines, he/she is required to use the quick change area which is located directly off the stage. This is so we know where the dancer is and can assist if needed. If you as a mother would like to be present to assist them, please sign up on the backstage access sheet on the studio board. On stage dress rehearsal day, please locate the quick change area on the side of the stage. MAKEUP TIPS: For younger dancers, shimmer eyeshadow, blush and lipgloss/lipstick to give them some color under the bright lights For dancers ages 8 and older (see 3 steps below) Step 1. Eyes Apply light eye shadow to the dancer's eye lid and under brow (brow bone). Use a darker color of choice in the crease of the eyelid, extending beyond the natural line of the eye in an upward motion toward the temple. THIS IS AN EXAMPLE ONLY. PURPLE IS NOT REQUIRED. Apply mascara for the eyelashes. Step 2. Blush

Pink or peachy color. Start under the cheekbone, from the bottom of the nose and sweep in an upward motion with the blush brush to the hair line. Blend in with your hand to ensure there are no streaks or red circles. Step 3. Lips Apply a lip stick/lip gloss of dark pink or light red to the lips.
