HALF YEARLY GENERAL MEETING of Yachting Victoria Incorporated Elwood Sailing Club 7.00pm on Monday 19 March 2012 MINUTES 1. Open Meeting & Welcome by Vice-President, Scott Davies The Vice-President Scott Davies advised that, due to illness, President Philip Coombs would not be in attendance and was therefore an apology. Scott welcomed everybody in attendance and thanked them for making the effort to attend. 2. Apologies See below attendance and apology details 3. Minutes of previous meeting Motion that the Minutes of the Annual General Meeting held on Monday 26 September 2011 at RMYS be approved Proposer: Jenni Maclean (BYS) Seconder: John Carrig (PMYC) 4. Business Arising from the Minutes Nil 5. President s Report The Vice-President presented the President s report, as prepared by Philip Coombs and circulated previously. The Vice-President also read through a list of notable performances by Victorian sailors. Treasurer s report on YTD February 2011 The Treasurer, Ian Cunningham presented the financial report/update as at the end of February 2012, as circulated previously. Motion for Subscription Fees for the 2012-13 Season Motion that in accordance with Rule 12, the annual subscription for each Member Club Category for the Financial Year 2012/13 be increased by the All Groups CPI for the year ending December 2011 of 3.1%, rounded up to the nearest $50. Proposer: Andrew Fedorowicz (NYAA) Seconder: Bruce Ellis (WBC) The original motion therefore was withdrawn. 8. CEO Report The CEO, Steve Walker presented the CEO Report, as circulated previously. The CEO report was accepted. 9. General Business Gemba report key findings The report was received and discussed by the meeting. The CEO advised that the discussion at this meeting would be quite brief, with a more detailed presentation/workshop as part of the annual Club Conference in June. The full Gemba report and summary findings are available on the YV website. The key findings were discussed. The general response to the key findings was of interest and buy-in, including a desire for clubs to contemplate the findings and use them to the advantage of clubs. Participation Initiatives The CEO outlined recent developments with regard to the Participation Committee, the Participation Plan, the Gemba Report, the YA Sport Development Plan, Tackers, Training, other junior initiatives and Go Sailing activities. The Development Officer concept, as circulated previously in a discussion paper, was discussed. There was general support for this concept, however an unanswered question pertaining to how smaller clubs could afford to contribute to such a program. This would be further considered and clubs informed if/when progress was made. Yachting Victoria Development Squad (YVDS) update Further to the document previously circulated, the CEO outlined recent progress that had been made with regard to an enhanced YVDS program. The CEO outlined that the program was now a pooling of resources and Yachting Victoria Page 2 of 6 28/03/2012
expertise, where YV works alongside clubs and classes, as well as with the VIS. The program is a VIS underpinning program that aims to motivate and inspire Junior and Youth sailors to stay in the sport, as one part of an overall youth development and retention strategy. General support was provided by the meeting however it was agreed that every effort should be made for this and any other such program to remain supportive of club activity and sailor retention. Victorian Performances As outlined above, and listed below, these performances were acknowledged. Further to the list, reference was made to Victorian sailors who excelled at the World Etchel Championships and the Sydney Harbour Regatta.
