Diving Courses Discover Scuba Diving for beginners, no experience necessary! The PADI Discover Scuba Diving course (or DSD) is in three parts: An introduction to the basic principles of diving and the equipment on land Training in the confined water of the lagoon, where you will be kneeling on sand in shallow water (see left) A dive on a nearby reef, to a maximum depth of 12 m, accompanied by your instructor All equipment, diving and boat fees are included in the price for this course. Full Range of PADI Courses We also offer Scuba Diver, Open Water Diver, Advanced Open Water Diver, Rescue Diver and Divemaster courses. In addition you may complete specialty courses such as Nitrox, wreck, digital underwater photography and many more. For Children We offer the Bubblemaker course for 8 and 9 year olds, plus Discover Scuba Diving, Junior Scuba Diver and Junior Open Water Diver courses for children aged 10 and above. Eco Diving We have a resident Marine Biologist, who is also an experienced PADI Divemaster, poised and ready to help you to learn more about the underwater world. Want to know your butterflyfish from your angelfish, or be the only diver on the boat who knows that the large table coral you saw is called Acropora? Learn to identify some of the fish and coral species of the Maldives by going on fish-spotting and coral-spotting dives. What s more, in conjunction with the Marine Conservation Society of the UK and the Marine Research Centre of the Maldives, AQUAFANATICS is participating in Fishwatch Maldives survey dives, and you can to. This is an easy way to give something back to the reefs; all you have to do is count fish! What is Fishwatch Maldives? Fishwatch Maldives is a nationwide recording scheme for reef species fished for food and for the aquarium export trade. The data collected by divers all over the Maldives provides information on distribution, abundance and size of key species. The results will be combined with fishery data and used to produce much-needed fishery management plans, which will help to sustain the fish populations of the Maldives. Take part in a survey dive and get a Fishwatch Maldives stamp in your logbook! 6
Diving Regulations and Recommendations We follow the Maldivian diving regulations, which include: No diving deeper than 30 metres Certified divers must present an international scuba diving licence A 24 hour surface interval is required prior to flying No solo diving Only NO decompression diving Open Water Divers or equivalent have a maximum depth of 20 metres An orientation dive is normal procedure Take only pictures Leave only bubbles Kill only time! We follow a look don t touch philosophy If you don t have dive insurance, we suggest DAN Maldives temporary insurance for peace of mind Diving in the Maldives is exciting, but currents can be strong! Please listen to our guides and dive conservatively and within your limits Drink plenty of water most cases of decompression sickness in the Maldives are linked to dehydration 7

Snorkelling Trips Call by one of our AQUAFANATICS centres and we will outfit you with complimentary snorkelling equipment for the duration of your stay. For all snorkelling trips a basic level of swimming ability is required. In-water staff are provided on all snorkelling excursions; however they are for guiding purposes only and not for swimming assistance. Snorkelling by Dhoni Join on us as we travel outside of the Anantara lagoon on one of our fleet of comfortable and spacious dhonis. We head out daily to one of a range of local reefs, all awaiting your exploration. Daily excursions from 10:30 12:30 *45 *Please note: a minimum of four guests is required. All snorkelling sites are within 10 20 minutes reach by dhoni; this excursion will therefore provide approximately one hour of snorkelling. 10
Snorkel Hopping by Speedboat Prefer to snorkel in a small group, from a fast boat? Even to choose your own snorkelling sites? Take one of our twin speedboats, aptly named WET and WILD, with a knowledgeable captain and guide, and visit several of the best snorkel sites on offer, all in one trip. Alternatively take advantage of the speed and head for more remote sites, or pick a theme for your snorkelling...turtle quest anyone? With just four guests on board, the ocean is your oyster. Manta Snorkelling (July to September) Come with us to the world-famous Manta Point, less than 30 minutes boat ride away. Keep your fingers crossed as your experienced crew search the water for these huge rays, then get ready to jump in and snorkel alongside the gentle giants of the ocean. Two hour excursions *65 *Please note: four guests are required for this excursion. The manta season in this area is approximately July to.september. However, even during this period, sightings of mantas cannot be guaranteed the manta rays are wild animals that pretty much do what they like! Night Snorkelling by Dhoni Jump into the ocean outside of the Anantara lagoon just as the sun is beginning to set and watch the busy diurnal (daytime) fish rushing around as they head off to shelter for the night. Hang around as the night creeps on and the nocturnal fish come out to play. Discover Snorkelling (lessons for beginners) Feeling a bit confused about the whole snorkelling thing? No problem. Our instructors will show you the basic techniques of snorkelling and correct use of the equipment to help you get the most out of your snorkelling excursions. Coral Adoption Programme Beneath the shimmering waters that surround the island archipelago of the Maldives South Male Atoll region, a fragile world quietly rebuilds itself. Coral reefs, the most diverse type of marine habitat, protect the pristine beaches at Anantara Dhigu, Anantara Veli and Naladhu Maldives and guard the islands crystal-clear lagoon. They also support an astounding array of tropical fish, crustaceans and bizarre-looking molluscs, however for all of its beauty and apparent resilience, coral is a sensitive organism, vulnerable to extreme weather and sudden environmental changes. These are the most acrobatic of all dolphin species and provide a spontaneous and breathtaking show all of their own accord.
