NIU has taken on the top-ranked team twice before in its FBS history. NIU dropped a 35-12 decision at Ohio State in the 2006 season opener and lost to Miami (Fla.), 34-0, on Oct. 4, 1986. In the only previous meeting between the teams, the Huskies Garrett Wolfe ran for 171 yards on 26 carries and caught five passes for 114 yards and a score, and quarterback Phil Horvath completed 15-of-26 passes for 185 yards, but NIU was no match for the Troy Smith/Ted Ginnled Buckeyes, who took a 21-0 first-quarter lead and never looked back. NIU Head Coach Rod Carey is 25-6 since taking over prior to the Huskies 2013 Orange Bowl game, and has a 3-0 record as a head coach versus teams from the Big Ten Conference. NIU has played in 71 games since the start of the 2010 season, the most by any team in the nation. The Huskies and Oregon are the only two teams in the country to win 11 or more games in each of the last five seasons. NIU is the winningest Division I program in Illinois all-time. The Huskies have won three Mid-American Conference championships and are the only FBS team in the country to have played in five straight league championship games since 2010. Drew Hare became the first Huskie quarterback to throw for 300-ormore yards in back-to-back games since NIU became an FBS program in 1969 with 360 and 358-yard efforts versus UNLV and Murray State. North Dakota transfer Kenny Golladay has quickly become Hare s favorite target with 17 catches for 357 yards and two scores, including a nine-catch, 213-yard day versus UNLV to earn MAC Player of the Week honors, and five catches of 25 yards or more. 1983, 2011, 2012 & 2014 MAC Champions Seven Consecutive Bowl Appearances 1

SERIES HISTORY: Ohio State won the only other game played between the two schools when the Buckeyes posted a 35-12 victory over NIU in Columbus on Sept. 2, 2006. Ohio State was ranked No. 1 in that meeting as well, which came in the 2006 season opener. NIU AND NO. 1: This is the third time in NIU history the Huskies will face a No. 1 team. In addition to facing Ohio State in the 2006 opener, the Huskies traveled to Miami on Oct. 4, 1986 to take on the No. 1 Hurricanes. NIU lost that game, 34-0. NIU vs. THE AP TOP 25: The Huskies are 5-28 all-time against teams ranked in the Associated Press Top 25. The last time NIU faced a ranked opponent was in the 2013 Orange Bowl when the then 16th-ranked Huskies fell to No. 13 Florida State, 31-10. The last victory for NIU over a ranked team was in the 2012 MAC Championship game when the Huskies, who were ranked 19th at the time, defeated No. 18 Kent State, 44-37, in overtime. NIU s last regular season road win over a ranked opponent came in 2003 when the Huskies knocked off then-no. 21 Alabama, 21-16. NIU vs. THE BIG TEN: The Huskies have enjoyed a nice run of success versus Big Ten foes of late. NIU has won five of its last eight games against Big Ten opponents since a 28-21 win at Purdue on Sept. 19, 2009. Last year, the Huskies won their third-straight game versus a B1G team, defeating Northwestern, 23-15, to improve to 7-36-1 all-time versus teams that currently make up the Big Ten Conference. In 2013, NIU became the first MAC school to defeat two Big Ten teams in one season when the Huskies defeated Iowa and Purdue. NIU knocked off the Hawkeyes, 30-27, in the 2013 season opener at Iowa and posted a 55-24 win over Purdue (Sept. 28, 2013) in West Lafayette, Ind. All the Huskies wins have come on the road. NIU FOOTBALL 2015 NIU Head Coach Rod Carey Now in his third season as the head football coach at Northern Illinois University, Rod Carey has already made his mark on NIU. Since being promoted to head coach on December 2, 2012, just minutes before NIU learned that the team had earned a historic bid to the 2013 Orange Bowl, Carey has proven himself worthy of his promotion. His NIU teams are 25-6, giving the Wisconsin native more wins as a MAC head coach than the likes of Urban Meyer (Bowling Green), Gary Pinkel (Toledo), Jerry Kill (NIU) or Brian Kelly (Central Michigan) compiled in their first two years in the league. He entered this season tied for eighth on NIU s all-time coaching wins list, and now needs just one victory to surpass Bill Mallory and Jerry Ippoliti for sixth place. In 2013, his first year as head coach, Carey led NIU to an undefeated regular season that included two wins over Big Ten Conference teams a 30-27 lastminute win over Iowa in the season opener and a 55-24 blowout victory at Purdue. Last season, the Huskies recorded a win over Northwestern, and won NIU s fifth consecutive MAC Division title and the school s fourth MAC championship. Carey became the third NIU mentor to be named the MAC Coach of the Year, following in the footsteps of greats Mallory (1983) and Joe Novak (2002), and was a semifinalist for the Maxwell Football Club Coach of the Year Award. He is the first league coach to win two games over Big Ten Conference opponents in one season and has a school-record three Big Ten wins. Carey ascended to head coach rapidly during his tenure at NIU. He served as offensive line coach his first year in DeKalb. In his second season, Carey had to build an offensive line from scratch in 2012, before taking over offensive coordinator duties after the 2012 season opener. The Huskies went on to win their next 12 games. Prolific offensive production, leading to four consecutive 11-plus win seasons, has been a hallmark of Carey s five seasons in DeKalb. In his first season at NIU, he coached a pair of All-American offensive lineman as center Scott Wedige and left tackle Trevor Olson were named All-Americans. Tommylee Lewis joined Jimmie Ward and Jordan Lynch, earning All-America honors in 2013, while Lynch s historic career was capped by a third-place finish in the Heisman Trophy voting. Carey joined the Huskies in 2011 after three seasons coaching the offensive line at the University of North Dakota. Prior to going to North Dakota, Carey spent the 2007 season as the offensive line coach at Illinois State. From 2000-06, Carey served on the coaching staff at the University of Wisconsin-Stout, where he was the offensive coordinator and offensive line coach. In all, Carey coached 26 allconference selections and seven All-Americans during his time at UW-Stout. Carey began his collegiate coaching career at the University of Minnesota (1998-99) where he helped the Gophers to their first bowl game in over a decade with a trip to the 1999 Sun Bowl. Prior to UM, he spent four seasons in the high school ranks at his alma mater, Wayzata (Minn.) High School, from 1994-97. A three-year starter at center for Indiana during his collegiate playing days, Carey served as a team captain and won IU s Corby Davis Outstanding Offensive Player Award as a senior. He earned his bachelor s degree from Indiana in 1994. Carey and his wife Tonya have two children, daughter Kennedi (11) and son Charlie (8). 2015 HUSKIE COACHING STAFF Offensive Coord./Quarterbacks...Bob Cole... Rimington Trophy ROAD WARRIORS: Since a 31-30 victory at Buffalo on Oct. 22, 2011, NIU has posted a 19-1 record in true road games. The only loss for the Huskies during that time was a 52-14 setback at Arkansas last year. In that time, NIU recorded road wins over Iowa, Northwestern, Purdue and Army. In 2013, NIU was the only FBS school to win all seven of its road games. HITTING THE ROAD: Saturday s contest with Ohio State is the first of three-straight road games for NIU and the Huskies will play four of the next five games away from home. Following the game in Columbus, the Huskies travel to Chestnut Hill, Mass. to face Boston College on Sept. 26, before heading to Mount Pleasant, Mich. to face the CMU Chippewas Oct. 3 in their 2015 league opener. NIU plays host to Ball State Oct. 10 before traveling to Oxford, Ohio to play Miami Oct. 17. BACK TO THE BUCKEYE STATE: NIU has put together quite a run since the start of the 2010 season and that includes games played in Ohio. Entering Saturday s contest with Ohio State, the Huskies have a seven-game winning streak in games played in the Buckeye State. During that stretch, NIU has tallied two victories each against Toledo and Akron, along with one each at Bowling Green, Kent State and Ohio. The Huskies last loss in Ohio came on Nov. 21, 2009 when NIU suffered a 38-31 setback to Ohio in Athens. LONG TIME NO SEE: This will be the first time the Huskies have faced Ohio State Head Coach Urban Meyer since Oct. 25, 2003 when Meyer was the head coach at Bowling Green State University; Meyer is 1-1 vs the Huskies. Meyer and the then- No. 23 Falcons won the 2003 contest, 34-18. NIU defeated Meyer and BGSU the year before, 26-17, at Huskie Stadium when the Falcons were ranked No. 20. RARE COMPANY: Entering 2015, the Huskies are one of only two teams in the nation to post five consecutive 11-win seasons. NIU recorded 11-3 marks in 2010, 2011 and 2014 and 12-2 records in both 2012 and 2013. Oregon is the only other school to match that mark. SOME STRETCH: No FBS team in the nation has played more football games since 2010 than NIU. Two games into the 2015 season, the Huskies have now played in 72 games. Florida State has played in 71 games, while Oregon (70) and LSU (69) rank third and fourth in games played since 2010. With appearances in five straight conference championship games and bowl games, the Huskies played 14 football games in each of the last five seasons. OHIO NATIVE: NIU junior wide receiver Aregeros Turner is the lone Ohio native on the Huskie roster. Turner hails from Copley, Ohio and went to Copley High School. He has 52 yards rushing on four carries and 12 yards receiving on one catch. The list of NIU s former players currently on NFL rosters in 2015 stands at eight. His 360 yards, the most by a Huskie since Jordan Lynch threw for 407 yards versus Toledo on Nov. 14, 2012, are the ninth-highest single game total in school history, while his total against the Racers ranks 10th. He is the first quarterback in NIU s history as a major college or FBS football program (since 1969) to throw for 300 or more yards in back-to-back games. FOUR FOR HARE: NIU quarterback Drew Hare threw a career-high four touchdowns in the Huskies 57-26 victory over Murray State. His previous best was three touchdown throws versus UNLV last year. Hare s four TD passes are the most by a Huskie since Jordan Lynch threw four against Eastern Michigan on Oct. 26, 2013. Hare completed his touchdown passes to two targets as tight end Shane Wimann and Kenny Gollady each caught two touchdown passes. MODEL OF EFFICIENCY: Through two games, Drew Hare leads the MAC and is fifth in the nation in passing efficiency with a 203.3 rating. He has completed 50 of 64 passes for a.781 completion percentage to lead the league and rank sixth in completion percentage. The junior has thrown for 718 yards and six touchdowns this season. ALREADY MAKING HIS MARK: Junior Kenny Golladay, a transfer from North Dakota, ranks second in the nation and leads the MAC in both receiving yards and receiving yards per game. The Chicago native is averaging 178.5 yards a game and tallying 357 yards receiving on the season. His 213 yards against UNLV in the season opener tied for the sixth-most by an NIU receiver in a single game and are the most by a receiver in his NIU debut. DAZZLING DEBUT: North Dakota transfer Kenny Golladay picked up MAC West Offensive Player of the Week honors after his first game as a Huskie. Golladay, who sat out the 2014 season due to NCAA transfer rules, caught nine passes for 213 yards, including catches of 41 and 48 yards (twice) in NIU s 38-30 victory over UNLV. His 213 receiving yards were the most by a Huskie receiver since Martel Moore s 224 yards versus Arkansas State in the 2012 GoDaddy Bowl on Jan. 8 and was the best game by a NCAA FBS receiver on the opening weekend. He recorded just the ninth 200-yard receiving game in NIU history. HITTING THE CENTURY MARK: Kenny Golladay recorded his secondconsecutive 100-yard receiving day with eight catches for 144 yards and two touchdowns, the first of his career at NIU, in the Huskies victory over Murray State. He is the first Huskie receiver to have back-to-back 100-yard games since Da Ron Brown had 128 and 138 yards versus Northwestern and UNLV, respectively, last season. TIGHT END ZONE: Huskie tight ends scored NIU s first two touchdowns of the season on a 16-yard catch and run by Shane Wimann and a 16- yard shovel pass to Desroy Maxwell in the victory over UNLV. It was the first time two different tight ends scored in the same game for NIU since 1983, 2011, 2012 & 2014 MAC Champions Seven Consecutive Bowl Appearances 5

HUSKIE STADIUM S 50 GREATEST PLAYERS As part of the celebration surrounding the 50th Anniversary of Huskie Stadium, NIU has selected the Top 50 NIU Players in stadium history and announced one player each day over a 10-week period. The first 40 players were revealed in random order via the Huskies social media outlets. The 50 Greatest Players in Huskie Stadium history were presented by Compass Mortgage. NIU then counted down the Top 10 players in reverse order leading up to the 2015 season opener on September 5th. On Friday, Sept. 4, 2013 Heisman finalist and Orange Bowl quarterback Jordan Lynch was named the top player in the 50-year history of Huskie Stadium. Each player selected played at least one season in Huskie Stadium, the 50-year old facility on the west side of the NIU campus that opened Nov. 6, 1965 with a 48-6 NIU win over Illinois State on Homecoming. The stadium was named Huskie Stadium in 1974 as part of NIU s 75th Anniversary celebration. On August 28, 2003, the facility was rededicated as Brigham Field at Huskie Stadium in honor of the late Dr. Robert J. Brigham, an institutional icon who carried the school s colors for more than 50 years as a student-athlete, assistant coach, head coach, director of athletics, and special assistant to the president before his retirement in June 2001. Huskie Stadium has played host to 263 NIU football games, where the Huskies own a 165-96-2 record all-time and have won 32 of their last 33 games. During the entire 2014 season, NIU tight ends scored one touchdown, a five-yard reception by Luke Eakes in the MAC Championship game. TWO FOR ONE: After scoring on touchdown catches of four and three yards versus Murray State, Shane Wimann became the first Huskie tight end to score two touchdowns in a game since Mitch Jacoby grabbed two TDs on Nov. 9, 1996 at Louisiana Lafayette (formerly Southwestern Louisiana). Wimann has three touchdown receptions on the season, the most since Reed Cunningham hauled in three TDs during the 2008 campaign. DOUBLE TROUBLE: Huskie tight ends Shane Wimann and Desroy Maxwell have been a potent combination for NIU this season. The tight end duo has combined to catch 13 passes for 109 yards and four touchdowns in the first two games of 2015. Last year, NIU tight ends accounted for 19 receptions for 177 yards and one TD. FIVE FOR WIMANN: Shane Wimann s two touchdown receptions were part of a five-catch, 27-yard receiving day for the redshirt sophomore from Wisconsin Dells, Wis. It s the most receptions by a Huskie tight end in one game since Brad Cieslak tallied six catches at Eastern Michigan on Nov. 20, 2004. ANOTHER PICK FOR P-LO: NIU cornerback Paris Logan made his fifth career interception when he picked off Murray State s K.D. Humphries in the end zone to preserve a 13-10 Huskie lead in the second quarter. It was his first interception since the 2014 MAC Championship game. The redshirt senior also ranks sixth at NIU all-time in passes broken up with 25. IN A RUSH: Since the beginning of the 2010 season, NIU is 33-1 when the Huskies run the ball 45 times or more in a game. The only loss for the Huskies during that stretch was to Marshall in the 2014 Boca Raton Bowl, when NIU ran the ball 50 times for 200 yards in a 52-23 loss. The Huskies rushed 43 times for 254 yards in their win over Murray State to improve to 46-3 when rushing 40 or more times. Since 2010, NIU is 12-10 when rushing less than 40 times a game. Record Scoring Average Rushing 40 or more times 46-3 41.1 Rushing 45 or more times: 33-1 41.6 Rushing 50 or more times: 23-1 36.6 Rushing 55 or more times: 9-0 34.3 Rushing 60 or more times: 4-0 44.0 COMING OUT PARTY: Junior tailback Joel Bouagnon recorded his first career 100-yard rushing game with 152 yards on 21 carries in NIU s season opener. Bouagnon s 100-yard day was the first by a Huskie back since Cameron Stingily s 116-yard day versus Bowling Green in the MAC Championship game and is the most since Drew Hare rushed for 180 yards versus Ball State last season. He also rushed for three touchdowns in the game. WEIGHING IN: The 10 offensive linemen on the 2015 NIU two-deep weigh in at a collective 3,114 pounds for an average of 311.4. Center Andrew Ness and left guard Aidan Conlon made their first career starts for the Huskies in the 2012 season opener and were members of a line that weighed in at 2,919 pounds, a 291.9 average. Ness and Conlon have contributed to the 20.5 average increase by adding on 28 and 18 pounds, respectively, during their careers. Ness tipped the scales at 286 pounds when he started against the Hawkeyes, while Conlon was 267. Ness is now 314, while Conlon is 305. He scored three touchdowns in the season opener against UNLV and added two more against Murray State. Bouagnon ranks first in the conference and third in the nation rushing touchdowns. He leads the MAC and is fifth in the country in scoring as well, averaging 15 points a game. ALL PURPOSE LEWIS: In his first action since NIU s 23-15 win at Northwestern (Sept. 6, 2014), Tommylee Lewis tallied 64 all-purpose yards versus UNLV. Lewis had 44 yards receiving, 17 yards on a kick return and a rush of three yards before leaving the game with an injury in the first quarter. The Riviera Beach, Fla. native now has 3,681 career all-purpose yards, eighth all-time at NIU. HOME FIELD ADVANTAGE: With a 57-12 record since 2003, Northern Illinois has raised its all-time record at Huskie Stadium to 165-96-2 for a.631 winning percentage. Five of those 12 home losses occurred in just one season - 2007. The Huskies have won 32 of their last 33 games at Huskie Stadium, dating back to a 38-3 victory over Western Michigan, Oct. 3, 2009. NIU s only loss during that stretch was a 34-17 setback to Central Michigan last season. HAPPY ANNIVERSARY: Throughout the 2015 season, NIU will celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Huskie Stadium. The Huskies won their first contest in their new home, scoring a 48-6 Homecoming triumph over Illinois State on November 6, 1965. A multi-use every day facility, Huskie Stadium has seen many additions to its footprint over the years. In 1995, the East Grandstand was constructed and the Yordon Center, located in the North end zone, opened its doors in August of 2007. The Chessick Center opened on October 26, 2013. SENIOR SALUTE: The Huskies 2015 roster includes 13 seniors, with 11 listed on the depth chart entering the Ohio State game and nine slated to start. The Huskies are tied with eight other schools with 13 seniors to rank ninth in the nation in fewest seniors. Offensive linemen Aidan Conlon and Andrew Ness have started all 43 games during their NIU careers and anchor the Huskie front five. Wide receivers Tommylee Lewis, Juwan Brescacin, and tight ends Desroy Maxwell and Kevin Tennenbaum round out the NIU seniors on the offensive side of the ball. Defensive linemen Cameron Clinton-Earl, Perez Ford, Siosifa Malolo and Ben Compton, cornerback Paris Logan, safety Marlon Moore and linebacker Boomer Mays comprise the Huskie seniors on the defense. MAKING THE GRADE: NIU football student-athletes truly are student-athletes, excelling on the field, and in the classroom. The Huskie football program s multi-year Academic Progress Rate (APR) of 970, up two points from a year ago, led the Mid-American Conference. The multi-year APR for each NCAA Division I team is based on the past four year totals for eligibility and retention of each scholarship student-athlete every year for the past four years. In order to compete in the 2015-16 postseason, teams must achieve a 930 multi-year APR, which predicts to roughly a 50 percent graduation rate. SUNSHINE STATERS: The 2015 Huskie roster includes 10 players from the state of Florida. Three true freshmen defenders, Antonio Davis-Jones, Jeffrey Hill and Trequan Smith, join seven returning Florida Huskies redshirt senior Tommylee Lewis, redshirt sophomore Bobby Jones IV and sophomores Christian Blake, Shawun Lurry, Ezra Saffold, and Albert Smalls and redshirt freshman Renard Cheren. With two of Huskies last three bowl games taking place in Florida, the 2013 Orange Bowl and 2014 Boca Raton Bowl, NIU football is well-known in the Sunshine State. OSU got on the scoreboard first when Troy Smith threw a five-yard touchdown pass to Ted Ginn, Jr., to cap an eight-play, 66-yard drive as the Buckeyes scored touchdowns on their first four possessions. When OSU regained the ball, Smith and Ginn again combined for a touchdown pass, this time via the big play on a 58-yard strike. On the next drive, the Buckeyes started at the NIU 20-yard line and three plays later, Smith completed his third TD pass of the quarter, connecting with Anthony Gonzalez from 15 yards out. After a Larry Grant interception and 49-yard return, OSU completed a five-play, 43-yard drive with a Chris Wells eight-yard scoring run to put the home team ahead 28-0 early in the second quarter. Chris Nendick put the Huskies on the scoreboard midway through the second quarter by booting a 35-yard field goal to cap a nine-play, 48-yard scoring drive. NIU took the second half kickoff and put together its second scoring drive of the game, going 60 yards on 10 plays before Nendick connected on a 37-yard field goal, making it a 28-6 game. Antonio Pittman extended the OSU lead back to 35-6 with a one-yard touchdown plunge on the first play of the fourth quarter. On the ensuing possession, the Huskies mounted their longest scoring drive of the game, marching 71 yards on 10 plays before Wolfe caught a four-yard TD pass from Phil Horvath to make it 35-12. NIU s two-point conversion failed, providing the game s final outcome. For the first time in his career, Wolfe topped the century mark in rushing and receiving yards in the same game, posting his 15th 100-yard rushing effort and second 100-yard receiving effort as a Huskie. Also in the game, Wolfe moved into fourth-place on the career rushing yardage list, passing LeShon Johnson.
