Rules & Regulations Santa is a featured guest of the parade. Please, no additional Santa s on floats. Make sure any entry with children has an appropriate number of adult chaperones. A 1:10 ratio is a good rule to follow. All bands, musical ensembles and floats are expected to play holiday music only. Signage should be neat and recognizable but modest in relation to each float. For the safety of our spectators, all candy must be thrown underhanded. All entrants will receive a parade line-up and traffic flow map prior to the parade. This information will need to be shared with ALL participants. Walkers... Four (4) walkers are allowed with each parade float. Always be seen, carry a flashlight. Monitor your float (stay by the tires to insure spectators do not get too close). For the safety of our spectators, all candy must be thrown underhanded. Drivers... Provide copy of driver s license and vehicle insurance with parade entry. All driver s are responsible for how their floats are pulled along the parade route. Be sure the trailer hitch or attachment is compatible between the vehicle and trailer. Drive slow and maintain two (2) car lengths between you and the float in front of you. Always coordinate with your walkers and make sure they are not running to keep up with your float. Equine Responsibility... All horses will walk at the end of the parade. Keep plenty of distance between your group and other groups. Line-up for all horses will be at R.J. Wollam (circle drive to the left of school) Day of Parade... Line-up for floats will begin at 3:00 p.m. in the R.J. Wollam parking lot. Entry for the parade line-up will be determined and emailed to parade contact. Float number is to be placed on the driver s side and made easy to see. Cars dropping participants will not be allowed to drive into the staging area s.
Rules & Regulations Cont. The parade will not substantially interrupt the safe and orderly movement of other traffic near the route. The parade will not divert, impede or interfere with emergency vehicles or personnel to the extent that normal emergency service is jeopardized. The parade is schedule to move from its point of origin to it point of termination without unreasonable delays in route. The movement will be subject to the control of the Chief of Police or his designee. All units shall be required to maintain forward progress. The parade shall be accompanied by designated and identifiable persons serving as parade monitors, four (4) for every one (1) parade float, who will walk alongside the parade to ensure that spectators keep a safe distance from parade traffic. No alcohol will be allowed in the staging area, on any unit or with any parade participant. No motorized vehicles will be allowed to pass other parade units on the parade route. Units containing any flammable materials or fabrics shall be equipped with a minimum of one 2 3/4 lb. A.B.C. fire extinguisher. Additional requirements and spot inspections may be conducted by the City Fire Marshal. The parade is of sufficient interest to the citizens of Santa Fe as to justify the temporary closing of the public roadway to vehicles and pedestrians. For the safety of our spectators, all candy must be thrown underhand. Advertising is encouraged and must be kept in good taste. In order to be judged, your float number must be placed on the DRIVERS side of your entry. Awards will be presented during the Christmas in the Park activities. Santa Fe s Christmas Parade & Christmas in the Park Release of Liability Form In the event we are unable to hold the Christmas Parade due to acts of nature, no refunds will be made. Funds will be donated to H.I.S. Ministries Bucks for Bikes Program. It is further agreed and understood that the Santa Fe Chamber of Commerce, Inc., Santa Fe City Hall, Santa Fe Independent School District, Santa Fe Parks Board and/or Friends of the Mae S. Bruce Library assumes no liability for any injury to person or property or any other damages or losses occurring at or during the timeframe between parade staging and parade termination. I agree to forever indemnify and hold harmless the Santa Fe Chamber of Commerce, Inc., City of Santa Fe, Santa Fe Independent School District, Santa Fe Parks Board and/or Friends of Mae S. Bruce Library from and against any and all claims from loss, death or damage of person or property and any other loss whatsoever arising out of an act, omission or negligence in the operation of conduct of myself/business, including violation of any law, and all attorneys fee and cost by those parties. All the foregoing is agreed to in consideration of and as a condition precedent to Santa Fe Chamber of Commerce, Inc., City of Santa Fe, Santa Fe Independent School District, Santa Fe Parks Board and/or Friends of Mae S. Bruce Library providing to me/my business the applied for entry into the parade. Do not leave children unattended during the parade. If left unattended, Santa Fe Chamber of Commerce, Inc., City of Santa Fe, Santa Fe Independent School District, Santa Fe Parks Board and/or Mae S. Bruce Library will not be responsible for any injury and/or accidents or missing children during the proceedings of this event. Parade float line-up will be the RJ Wollam front parking lot on Ave. S. Entry will be the main entrance and we are asking floats to come from 4 ½ Street to Ave. S rather than FM 1764 to Ave. S. We will fill in from the school side to the street side and then down the service road to the Ave. S entrance. The only vehicles allowed in the parade line-up area will be the parade participants (floats, carts, cars entered into the parade, etc.) All others will need to park in the back parking lot behind the school. Entrance for Parade Float / Participant Line-Up The Christmas Parade will start promptly at 5:30 p.m. and run from RJ Wollam, turning right on FM 1764, left on Highway 6 and left on Warpath Drive and end at the parking lot between the Junior High and HEB. Judges will be staged on FM 1764 so signs, float number, etc. will need to be placed on the Drivers Side. 1. Float parking and/or exit will be the JH Parking lot by HEB. If floats are NOT staying for the Christmas in the Park activities, they may exit via the service road behind the JH turning left on 6th Street back to FM 1764. 2. Participants not staying for Christmas in the Park Activities can be picked up in the Administration Parking Lot or the BBVA Compass Bank parking lot. 3. Those staying for Christmas in the Park Activities may park in any lot on Warpath except the one between Fritz Barnett and the Football Stadium. That lot is designated for horse trailers. 4. HEB is a business and will have customers so please, DO NOT block their parking lot or take up space in their parking lot for event parking and/or pick up. Please utilize the designated areas for parade activity. Parking and DROP OFF for parade participants. HORSES and other animals will stage in the Circle Drive off Walker Street. We ask that trailers come from Shouse St. down Walker St. to unload. HORSE PICK-UP will be the parking lot between Fritz Barnet and the Football Stadium on Warpath.
