Unification : England + Scotland England and Scotland were seperate states for several centuries. English attempts to take over Scotland by military force in the late 13th and early 14th centuries were ultimately unsuccessful (see : Wars of Scottish Independence). 5
Scottish Knight William Wallace (12701305) was the main leader during the Wars of Scottish Independence. He was captured, tortured and sentenced to death, in 1305. Braveheart(1995) of Mel Gibson is a well-known account (movie) of Wallace's life and fight. The movie was highly criticised. 6
