It was his second consecutive postseason shutout, as he recorded a 4-0 win on June 15, 2011 in Vancouver in Game 7 of the 2011 Stanley Cup Final... He now carries a playoff shutout streak of 123:44 with his last playoff goal allowed a Maxim Lapierre score at 17:34 of the third period on June 13, 2011 vs. Vancouver in Boston during Game 6 of the SCF... Thomas is now tied with Cecil Tiny Thompson for second place on the club s all-time playoff shutouts list, trailing only Gerry Cheevers who registered eight. GAME 1, GAME 2: The Bruins now have a 44-45 lifetime record in game ones of best-of-seven series... Their Game 2 record when leading a series 1-0 is 28-15 and they are 31-14 overall in best-of-seven series in which they have led 1-0. NO WEAK LINKS: Bruin defenseman Andrew Ference introduced The Chain to the Bruins locker room following the Game 1 win over Washington. The Chain is similar to last year s Jacket, which is awarded to the player of the game after every Bruins win. The Chain is comprised of 20 links (for the 20 players that dress) and has a lock with the Spoked-B engraved in it. Following each win, the player who earns The Chain will wear it during the postgame
availability and then have their number inscribed into it. According to Ference, The Chain reminds the group that there can be no weak links. CHAIN TALLY: 4/12 vs. WSH, Game 1 Chris Kelly 126 AND COUNTING: Including the Bruins latest home game the B s have now sold out their last 126 home games at the TD Garden, including regular season and playoffs. This sellout streak began more than two years ago on December 5, 2009 against the Toronto Maple Leafs. The last game the Bruins did not have 17,565 in attendance at the Garden was on Wednesday, December 2, 2009 when they hosted the Tampa Bay Lightning (16,553). FACEOFF LEADER: Patrice Bergeron won the most faceoffs in the NHL this season (973) and finished the regular season having won 59.3% of his draws. That percentage ranked second overall in the NHL, trailing only Chicago s Jonathan Towes (59.4%). In Game 1 against Washington, Bergeron won 18 of his 25 faceoffs (72%). PLUS/MINUS: The Bruins owned the top five plus/minus ratings in the NHL this season: Patrice Bergeron (+36), Tyler Seguin (+34), Chris Kelly (+33), Zdeno Chara, (+33) and Brad Marchand (+31). RATINGS RECORD: NESN s coverage of the Bruins 1-0 overtime win over the Capitals in the Eastern Conference Quarterfinal Game 1 set a new first game of a playoff series ratings record for NESN with a 11.6 average household rating in the Boston DMA and a 19.3 share. The 11.6 rating is also the 7th highest Bruins playoff rating in NESN history. BOSTON MEDIA TWEET OF THE WEEK (TOTW): The opening week of the playoffs did not disappoint from the TOTW perspective.
