Wednesday at 7 p.m. (CT) Virginia advances to winners Bracket 1 Final and will face winner of Miami (Fla.)/Florida or Virginia Friday at 2 p.m. (CT) Virginia (41-22): The Cavaliers are participating in the College World Series for the fourth-time (2009, 2011, 2014, 2015) Virginia joins Florida as the only schools to appear in four CWS since 2009 UVa is 9-6 all-time in CWS games (1-2 in 2009, 2-2 in 2011, 4-2 in 2014, 2-0 in 2015) With a victory tonight, the Cavaliers became the first school since Rice (2006-07) to be 2-0 in back-to-back CWS (Vanderbilt won its first-two games in 2014 and its CWS opener in 2015) UVa played its sixth-consecutive CWS game against an SEC opponent: Ole Miss and Vanderbilt (3 CWS Finals games) in 2014 and Arkansas in Game 1 of 2015 The Cavaliers are the first team seeded third in a regional to win its first two CWS games since Oregon State in 2007 Virginia improved to 7-0 in the 2015 NCAA postseason (3-0 in the Lake Elsinore Regional, 2-0 in the Charlottesville Super Regional) UVa was 0-for-6 with men on base before Kenny Towns and Pavin Smith singled in front of Robbie Coman s sacrifice fly in the sixth inning Coman became the sixth Cavalier to drive in a run in the 2015 CWS (Virginia has scored six runs) The Cavaliers notched their first NCAA postseason shutout since May 31, 2014 (3-0 vs. Arkansas) at the Charlottesville Regional It was the seventh NCAA postseason shutout all-time by Virginia and only its second outside of Charlottesville (5-0 at UC Irvine in 2009 regional) Brandon Waddell (7+ IP) worked at least seven innings for the third-straight start and the sixth time in his last seven outings Waddell has three CWS starts with at least seven innings or one earned run or less only South Carolina s Michael Roth (four such starts from 2010-12) has accomplished the feat in the last 25 years Waddell lowered his career ERA in the CWS to 0.78 (23 IP/2 ER), eighth-best all-time (minimum 20 IP) Josh Sborz relieved Waddell in the eighth inning with runners at the corners and zero outs and recorded three outs facing the top of the Florida order Sborz s six-out save was the first since Vanderbilt s Adam Ravenelle pitched two innings in the 2014 CWS Finals Game 3 against Virginia to preserve a 3-2 victory Wadell and Sborz combined for the first two-hitter in the CWS since Michael Roth (South Carolina) vs. Kent State (June 21, 2012) The two hits allowed by UVa are the fewest surrendered in an NCAA Tournament contest

Florida (50-17): Florida (No. 4 National Seed) and Virginia met for the first time in 26 years (1989) The Gators are 4-2 all-time against the Cavaliers The two clubs last met in NCAA Tournament play (1985 NCAA Atlantic Regional in Coral Gables, Fla.) Both teams split those games (UVA won the tournament opener, 14-1 on May 25, but the Gators bounced UVa from the regional with a 15-2 win on May 26) This is the ninth time the Gators have reached the CWS (1988, 1991, 1996, 1998, 2005, 2010-2012, 2015) Florida has made the NCAA Tournament in all eight years of Kevin O Sullivan s tenure the longest NCAA run in school history O Sullivan lettered at UVa 1990 and 1991 and returned to serve as the pitching coach in 1996 and 1997 O Sullivan is 4-7 all-time in the CWS guiding the Gators to a second-place finish in 2011 UF is 12-18 all-time in the CWS and is a two-time National runner-up (2005 and 2011) They sport a 91-65 record in 31 NCAA Tournament appearances The Gators have reached the 50-win plateau for the fourth time in school history (win vs. Miami (Fla.) in Game 2 of CWS) having hit the mark in 1991 (51-21), 1996 (50-18), 2011 (53-19) and 2015 (50-16) The Gators 10-game win streak came to an end with the 1-0 loss to Virginia First loss in 2015 NCAA Tournament Florida suffered its third shutout of the season (others: vs. Kentucky/3-0 on April 24; at Vanderbilt/2-0 on May 7) They had never been blanked in a CWS games until tonight (9 appearances, 30 games) Just the third time in 31 NCAA Tournament appearances (112 games) they were shutout with the last coming in 1982 against USF at the Atlantic Regional in Coral Gables, Fla. The Gators managed just two hits (Alonso and Ryan Larson) marking their lowest hit total this season Previous was three against Ole Miss on March 20 A.J. Puk recorded his 100th strikeout of the season in the first inning getting Daniel Pinero swinging (first Gator to history mark since Bryan Augenstien had 105 in 2007 Finished the game with five strikeouts (13th time with five or more Ks eight consecutive games) Worked 5.1 innings allowing one run (earned) on four hits with three walks Josh Tobias extended his consecutive streak of reaching base safely to 29 (season-high) when he was hit by a pitch in the first inning Dalton Guthrie (18/walk) and Peter Alonso (17/single) also extended their on-base streak Alonso had the Gators lone hit in the first six innings, a leadoff infield single in the second Ryan Larson delivered a base-hit into right center in the eighth inning that gave UF runners on the corners with no outs UF left a runner stranded on third in that frame and was 0-for-4 with RISP on the night In seven NCAA Tournament games, Florida has outscored teams 68-16 (29-3 in Regionals, 24-9 in Super's, 15-4 in CWS)

2015 College World Series Notes Records Tied/Broken David Thompson tied a CWS single-game record with two sac flies in Game 2 It has happened 15 times and it s the first since June 13, 2009... He is also the first player in TDAPO history (span of 206 games) with two sac flies in the same contest Before Game 2 there had been 122 players with a sac fly never two by the same player Florida scored 11 runs in in the fourth inning, which tied a CWS single-game record in Game 2 It s the eighth time in CWS history that a team has scored 11 runs in an inning and first since Stanford (vs. Florida State) in the ninth on June 14, 2008 final score was 16-5 Florida s 15 runs against Miami are the most in a CWS game at TDAPO and most since Fresno State s 15-run output against Georgia on June 24, 2008, which was at Rosenblatt Stadium Both Miami (Game 2) and LSU (Game 3) used eight pitchers which ties a CWS team record It s the sixth time eight hurlers has been used in a single game (2007/once, 2009/once, 2012/once, 2013/once and 2015/twice) Carson Fulmer (2014-15) tied the CWS career record for balks in the top of the third frame of Game 4 (third career) joining Frank Carbajal (Northern Colorado/1959-60) and Cole St. Clair (Rice/2006-08) Delay Notes: Game 3 of CWS (TCU vs. LSU) was delayed 30 minutes from its original start time of 2:03 p.m. (CT) Game 4 between Cal State Fullerton/Vanderbilt was delayed at 9:22 p.m. for weather after starting at 7:05 p.m. (game was officially suspended at 10:41 p.m. with the Titans leading 3-0 in the bottom of the sixth with Vandy s Rhett Wiseman standing on third Zander Wiel was at the plate with two outs and a 3-2 count) OFFICIAL DELAY was 1:19 The last time the CWS had weather delays that affected two games on the same day came in 2010 (June 20: South Carolina vs. Oklahoma; June 21: Clemson vs. Arizona State was moved back a day) Game 3 s delay was the first since last year when Virginia and Ole Miss (June 20, 2014) was delayed 1:33 with no score in the top of the second inning, later suspended until the next day Last time there was a resumption of a suspended game then two complete games in the same day occurred in 2011 (Game 6 between Florida/Vanderbilt was suspended on June 20 and resumed on June 21) There were three full games played on the same day back in 2012 (Game 10: South Carolina/Kent State; Game 11: Arizona/Florida State; Game 12: South Carolina/Arkansas) Attendance Notes: Game two attendance between Miami and Florida was announced as 26,377 which is the 19th largest in CWS history and fourth largest in TDAPO Game three attendance between TCU and LSU was 24,506 which is less than 100 from a Session 3 record Game five total between Arkansas and Miami (Fla.) was 18,734 pushing the CWS all-time total to over 9 million fans Home Run Notes: Joe McCarthy (UVa) and Andrew Benintendi (Arkansas) each belted solo home runs in Game 1 of the CWS marking the 17th time (in 205 games at TDAPO) with two home runs in a game (never had a three in one game) Last time with two home runs in a CWS game was in 2012 (Game 11) FSU vs. Arizona (Robert Refsnyder and Bobby Brown hit home runs in the same game) Last time two home runs in a game (one by each team) was in 2012 (Game 3/ Kent State vs. Arkansas) Jimmy Rider (Kent State) and Jake Wise (Arkansas) Joe McCarthy s (UVa) home run in the second inning is the first in Game 1 (vs. Arkansas) of CWS since Stony Brook s Pat Cantwell in 2012 against UCLA There have been five home runs (Joe McCarthy/UVa, Andrew Benintendi/Arkansas, Jared Foster/LSU, Jeren Kendall/Vanderbilt, Jacob Heyward) in this year s CWS, which are the most in a CWS since 2012 (10) With Heyward s home run, the total number of home runs at TDAPO is 30 (65th CWS game in park history) CWS home run chart at TDAPO including Sunday: LF/13, LCF/6, CF/0, RCF/0 and RF/11) Jeren Kendall s (Vanderbilt) two-run walk-off homer in Game 4 vs. Cal State Fullerton is the first in TDAPO history (span of 208 games) Last walk-off in CWS was Connor Rowe (Texas) against Arizona State on June 19, 2009 at Rosenblatt Stadium
