Extra Reminders There s a bit of extra space this month. Here s some of the old reminders. We haven t seen them in a while. Please read them to refresh your memory. Member s trap machine use Members who use the trap machine dedicated for members only please physically unplug the machine when finished using. Leave the fan on and do not turn off the breakers. Dumpster: The dumpster located on site is for chapter trash only. Borrowing Equipment: As a chapter member, you have the right to borrow most types of chapter equipment if it is not otherwise being used. You must contact the chapter s Equipment or Property chairman. Member use privileges and member identification: All regular, life, and honorary life members may use the chapter facilities. Accidents: All Accidents on Chapter property must be reported to a Chapter Officer and completing an accident The accident report forms are next to the first aid box. Payments to Members for Services Is Not Permitted: Under the terms of the 501-C3 regulations, the Chapter is permitted to reimburse its members for actual expenses incurred, but is not permitted to pay them for services to the chapter. RSO Class Schedule Classes are nine hours. And yes, the class starts at 7:30AM. Lunch is available. Registration Dates Closed RSO Class Dates November 12 at 7:30AM (Saturday)

October Monthly Membership Meeting Held October 31, 2016 (Happy Halloween) Old Business 1. The new skeet range project needs a Program Manager. The houses are coming along at a good pace. 2. Dues will be going up for next year. This is the national IWLA portion of the dues. New Business 1. There were no applicants this month. 2. There were no new members to vote on this month. 3. Membership renewal notices will be sent out soon. They will include the national IWLA dues increase. 4. The property is divided into 6 zones for hunting. A map and sign in book has been placed beside the back door. 5. Waivers are needed for ALL guests that haven t signed one this year. If in doubt sign another one. 6. The Boy Scouts are going to build a shed for the archery range November 5 th and 6 th. 7. The treasurer s report was given. 8. We are looking for photos of the Boy Scout projects. The scouts will attend the November meeting for recognition. 9. The next monthly shoot is deer rifle to be held on November 5 th. 10. Martin Tressler is the new Wild Game Feed chairman. Important Reminders All official Mt Airy club correspondence must come from a director or officer. All event scheduling must go through Stick. He keeps the official, most up to date calendar of all events. Mt Airy Straight Shooters The new Mt. Airy Straight Shooters (MASS) Archery is off to a great start. The open house had 42 shooters and many observers. MASS Archery held 2 "beginner/intro to archery" classes in October: Parent with child had 19 shooters Adults only with 5 shooters Mt Airy IWLA club members officiating/coaching: Don Sherwood, Stephen Mexia, and Laurie Ansorge. During the parent/child class, the Straight Shooters were joined by Tom and Allison from Tuscarora Archery! A field trip to neighboring Mayberry Archers is planned for next month. Range Rules Note that these range rules are still in effect until further notice. The new range rules have NOT been implemented. 1) Do not lock the gate when using ranges, just close the gate. 2) Do not block the range road with your vehicle. 3) You MUST have your range badge on your person and displayed. 4) You must sign the range use log and you must use your full 6 digit badge membership number. 5) You must enter all guest names into the Range Use Log. Names should be printed and clearly readable. 6) You must pick up your brass, other trash and remove the targets from the backers. 7) Only paper targets no larger than 24"X 24" can be used except at 200+300 yards. 8) Shot gun pattern use only on pattern board (to left of the clubhouse before the pine trees) 9) On the pistol range, NO SHOOTING CLOSER THAN 10 YARDS. 10) On the rifle range, NO SHOOTING IN FRONT OF THE BENCHES. 11) Willful destruction of the ranges will not be tolerated. Shoot only at targets on the backers. 12) Pistol Range: During a cease fire DO NOT TOUCH any firearm forward of the red line for any reason. Open actions, make sure that the firearm is unloaded, stand behind the red line and do not touch any firearms. 13) Rifle Range: The RED FLAG identifies a cease fire situation. During a cease fire DO NOT TOUCH any firearm forward of the red line for any reason. There are possible members setting targets that you may not see. 14) No alcohol will be consumed before or during shooting. 15) At the archery range, only shoot field points at the club target. DO NOT SHOOT ANY FIREARMS ON THE ARCHERY RANGE. 16) No rapid firing at any range. Rapid fire is faster than 1 shot every 4 seconds. 17) Member s Guests: It is your responsibility to monitor them the entire time he or she is on chapter property. You must supervise your guest while they are shooting. Members are not to be shooting while the guests are shooting. No more than three immediate family guest or no more than two non-immediate family member guests permitted at any time. Be Advised Violations of Range Rules numbered 1 thru 8 constitute a policy and procedure offense. The following corrective actions will be taken: First Offense you will be sent a written letter of reprimand Second Offense you will be required to submit your range badge to a chapter officer and will be required to meet with the Mt. Airy Chapter IWLA Executive Board before your Range Badge will be returned. Violations of Range Rules numbered 9 thru 17 constitute a policy, procedure, and Safety offense. The following corrective actions will be taken. All Safety Violations will result in the loss of your range use privileges. THERE WILL BE NO WARNINGS. Your Range Badge will be pulled. You will be required to meet with the Mt. Airy Chapter IWLA Executive Board.
