Chaplain s Message Grand Knight s Message There is no Chaplain s message for this month. Brothers: I would like to use this month s message to highlight some of the events scheduled for March and April. Our Council will be leading the Stations of the Cross at St. John s on Friday, March 9 th at 7:30PM. Let s have good member participation! The annual Catholic Men s Conference is scheduled for Saturday, March 10 th at 8:00AM at Seton Hall University. This is a great men s Lenten event! Our annual Breakfast for Communion candidates at St. Andrew s and St. John s is scheduled for Sunday, April 15 th in our Hall at 11:30AM. This is always a fun event for our members plan on joining us. The Friday Night Dinners will resume on Friday, April 20 th at 6:00PM. Please sign-up to host a dinner or help serve. The dinners are major fundraisers for our Council. On Saturday, April 21 st our Council will be honored with a Jewels of the Community award from the St. James Social Service Corporation in recognition of our preparing and serving lunch on the first Saturday of the
(Grand Knight) month. The awards brunch will be at the Renaissance Newark Airport Hotel at 10:00AM. There will be a $65.00 donation for any member wishing to attend. I m very proud of our members for all of the work done to help those in need! On Tuesday, April 24 th we will be hosting the monthly meeting of the Joseph F. Lamb Assembly (4 th degree). The annual Shake the Can drive is scheduled from April 26 th to April 28 th. Please sign-up for one or more time slots when contacted by Mike Carpenter. This drive is another major fundraiser for our Council. Let me conclude by encouraging members to attend and participate in Council and Parish Lenten activities. Joe Bisi, GK. Golf Outing Break out the clubs, clean the shoes and start stretching because the Annual Golf Outing to support the Scholarship and Charity Funds is just around the corner. Monday, June 11 th, is coming faster than you think and this event is very important to our council s support of worthy students to pursue their higher education goals. We will be returning to the River Vale Country Club for a hot buffet breakfast and 18 holes of golf with prizes for closest to the pin on the four par 3 holes, low score foursome, and the longest and straightest drives. We also feature a $10,000.00 payout for a hole in one on the fourth hole and hole in one prizes on each of the par 3 s. After golf we will be treated to a buffet luncheon at The Estate at the Florentine Gardens. What s the cost of this event? Registration will be the same as in the past $150.00 per golfer. This cost is more than reasonable for all that you get. We also offer hole sponsorships at $100.00 which includes course signage, and the sign in The Chancellor and on the placemats used at our Friday night dinners and other events. That, in and of itself, is a bargain for a business to get exposure to many people. In order to make this a successful fund-raiser, we will also need your help. How about playing golf with your brother Knights? If you cannot join us or you do not play golf, you can help out in a number of ways. Ask your company to support our efforts with a hole sponsorship or maybe there are some people who would like to enjoy a walk in the sun, hopefully. You can post the announcement of the event in your office or place of work. Maybe you assist by beating the pavement and try to get some items that can be given away as door prizes. This is your Council and we need you to become involved in the fund-raisers that we sponsor. Please consider giving some of your time and effort to a worthwhile event. Ray Polomski P. 2
