Law Enforcement Torch Run June 6, 7 & 8 All athletes must complete the online registration/waiver form. The form can be found online at soct.org, under forms & on the Law Enforcement Torch Run page. Law Enforcement Torch Run Athlete Runner Form will be available April 2 nd Routes will be available in April as well. Due date for registration May 11 th, NO EXCEPTIONS Shirts will need to be picked up in Hamden; if shipped they will be billed to programs.

Law Enforcement Torch Run Parameters for Participation Participants must be able to run 11 minute mile pace. Athletes are not allowed to ride in police vehicles or on support trucks. A law enforcement official must always have one hand on the torch. Once a runner has stopped his or her run is complete, they may not get out of local support vehicle and run again. Local program needs to provide transportation for all participants and should provide one vehicle for the procession.

Emergency Plans Be prepared for emergencies! Locals and Coaches should have an emergency plan in place in the event of an accident while at a practice. In the case of an accident, please fill out an Incident Report form (under Forms on the website) and send to Morgan Powell - morganp@soct.org Housing Considerations be aware of roommates at all times. Bullying is not tolerated by anyone including athlete to athlete. For Rain delays or cancellations during Summer Games be sure to sign up at www.rainedout.com; find Special Olympics Connecticut in preferred results; choose Local Coordinators/Coaches Group.

Insurance If a venue requests a Certificate of Insurance (COI), please use the online request form. You can attach any contracts/agreements or additional information on this form. Questions? Volunteer Updates NEW Class A forms Please make sure you are using NEW Class A forms Please make sure that forms are filled out completely Reminder! SOCT is working with a new Background Screening Vendor The new vendor is Verified Volunteers The new background checks are more thorough and take more time On average a clean criminal history will take 24 to 72 hours to come back This means SOCT will no longer be able to process any last minute forms including group home staff changes All changes should be sent in with at least a week s lead time before an event to ensure there is enough time for processing Web Class A form SOCT has a web version of the Class A form for NEW volunteers Please make sure all NEW volunteers filling out the web form are filling out all 3 steps Verified Volunteers Protective Behaviors Final application page with biographical info SOCT also has links for existing Class A volunteers to rescreen themselves Contact Katie York with any questions 203-230-1201 ex 224 or kathryny@soct.org

Registration materials on Forms page of the website: Deadline: April 18 th (Soccer due April 11) Email registration to via secure email to appropriate sports staff. Athlete and Partner forms When emailing forms via secure email Please send them only as a PDF or JPG file. We will not accept: photos of forms in the body of an email & illegible forms (if you can t read it, neither can we). Email to susamm@soct.org. Renewing athlete medicals Items #1-5 checked yes must have a licensed medical examiner s signature. That includes Physicians RN s & RN s that are affiliated with a group home APRN All renewing athlete forms with NO checked items #1-5 do not need a medical examiner s signature. Athlete release forms and Unified Partner forms only expire on their 18 th birthdate.

How to complete the Intent to Participate form online: Type in your Local Program name and Local Coordinator information. Select the appropriate sports season from the drop-down menu. Select the number of events or sports from the drop-down menu that your local program will be practicing and competing in at the state competition. Based on the number of sports you select, the corresponding number of sports specific practice information will appear. Fill out all training and practice information completely and to the best of your ability. The form will be automatically sent to our office once you click submit. All intents for Summer Games are due by April 3rd. Please work with your coaches if your delegation competes in multiple sports per season to submit only ONE intent per Local Program. If you have any questions as you complete this form, please contact the registration@soct.org email address and someone from the sports department will contact you.

Southern & Northern Time Trials (Be advised of new track schedule) Northern Time Trials- Sunday, May 6 th @ the Loomis Chaffee School, Windsor No parking on campus, all teams must park at Windsor High School & take shuttle bus in ONLY team buses may use the skating rink off of Island Road as drop off. Cars will be asked to turn around and go back to Windsor High School. STANDING LONG JUMP- GUIDELINES FOR PIT CREW (created by Anne Parker June 2015) Sand in pit must be raked and filled to the level of the runway, from end of runway to the maximum any athlete may jump. The foul line shall be placed at the end of the running long jump runway. Athletes must line up their toes to the front edge of the designated foul line (see photo). You may ask the athletes if they need guidance on feet placement if he/she seems confused. Athletes shall use both feet on take-off. He/she may rock backward and forward lifting his/her heels and toes alternately, but athlete may not lift either foot completely off the ground. All distances will be measured along a perpendicular line from the foul line to the closest impression on the landing area made by any part of the athlete s body or clothing. Each heat sheet must be marked after the jumps have been recorded for 1 st, 2 nd, and 3 rd place. This is important for the medal awards. Single jumpers that were not able to jump with their designated group, but are allowed to jump as an individual should not be marked with any placement (e.g. 1 st place) on the official record sheet following their jump. They will be awarded by their placement on original heat.

Swimming Southern Connecticut State University Tent City Same area. Teams to set up tents along front of parking garage, nothing on the island by driveway. Teams should plan to bring their own chairs & pop up tents. (please remember to bring stakes for the tents) We are no longer using wristbands for athletes. Yellow hanging credentials will list athletes full events at all three events. Developmental Swimming on Friday will be located at Hamden Hall Athletic Center: 225 Skiff St, Hamden. Tennis Southern Connecticut State University Qualifier will be on Saturday, May 12th as part of the Southern Time Trials at Weston Public Schools. Rain or shine! In the event of inclement weather, we will be back at The Weston Racquet Club for the Time Trials.

Only Class A certified individuals are allowed in residence halls this includes parents and families. Curfews/quiet hours: 11:00 p.m. 6:00 a.m. Meals in Parking garage.
