Installing the D MAND KONTROLS System with the Pre-Fab KIT This is fr installatin f the Pre-Fab Accessry T s nly. These d nt replace the existing instructins included with yur System. Be sure yu have read the instructins carefully befre prceeding with yur installatin. Accessries If yu have purchased an ACT Ht Water D MAND KONTROLS System that is equipped with the pre-fab accessry package, (PF-Kit), the 3/4 male threads and adapters have been prvided t install yur System. Enclsed with yur system are tw T s custm designed t simplify yur installatin t ½ cpper ht and cld supply lines. Additinal pipe thread fittings may be required if yur supply lines are threaded galvanized r CPVC plastic pipe. Call 1-800-200-1956 fr assistance. T Install Yur Custm T Fittings (PF-Kits nly) 1. Turn ff the huse water supply. 2. Open the ht and cld faucets at the fixture chsen fr installatin. This will relieve the water pressure frm the ht and cld water pipes. 3. Remve the shut-ff valves that supply the ht and cld water lines t the sink frm the ½ cpper pipe fr ease f installatin; yu may leave the cmpressin ring and nut frm the angle stp n the ht and cld water supply lines. (Nte: If the existing ring r nut is damaged yu may use the parts frm the new custm T s.) 4. Remve the cmpressin ring and nut frm the enclsed cmpressin fitting n the supplied Pre Fab custm T s. 5. Insert the male cmpressin fitting int the nut n the ht and cld water supply pipes. Tighten until there are NO leaks. 6. Insert male end f angle stps (valves) int the female nut f the new Pre Fab Custm T s. Bth f these cnnectins are cmpressin fine threads. NEVER apply either Tefln Tape OR Pipe Dpe n cmpressin threads r fittings. This will vid the warranty f ACT, Inc. regarding the T s. 7. Nw yu are ready t attach the flex lines frm the ¾ male thread f the Pre Fab T s t yur D MAND KONTROLS System. (Tefln tape is recmmended fr the ¾ curse pipe thread fittings.) 8. Refer t Page 3 Installing the D MAND KONTROLS Buttn(s) and Wireless Remte Optin. (Custm brass ½ cmpressin x ¾ MIP x ½ cmpressin Pre-Fab T s) Page 2

The System adapts t yur existing plumbing! Fllw these simple steps: "NO SWEAT" 1. Turn ff water supply and remve angle stps. 2. Install & tighten T s (included), attach angle stps. 3. Install flex lines r any line with ¾ inside diameter. 4. C1-100-PF Installed Installatin Prcedures: Turn ff the huse water supply. Open the ht and cld faucets at the fixture chsen fr installatin. This will relieve the water pressure frm the ht and cld water pipes. Remve the shut-ff valves that supply the ht and cld water t the sink. Install T fittings t the pipe stubs frm the ht and cld water supply. NOTE: Using piping with less than 1/2" inside diameter will restrict the flw f the water, causing it t take lnger fr ht water t arrive. Install the System between the ht and cld lines, but be sure that the arrws n the pump and are pinting frm the ht side t cld. Re-install the shut-ff valves t the water supply and sink. Pre-assemble the pump, adapters, and valves. (Mdel C1-100): 1. Lay the D MAND KONTROLS System in frnt f yu with the label facing up and readable. Starting at the left side f the pump, place Tefln tape n the 1 male fitting, then thread n ne f the 1 x ¾ adapters t the pump. 2. Next, apply Tefln tape t the threads n the right side f the pump. Then take the 1 x 1 adapter with IFC valve and thread n the right side f the pump. Make sure that the washers prvided in installed between every CPVC fitting. (Nte: Tefln tape r dpe shuld be used when jining the pump s prprietary resin bdy t the CPVC adapters. Using Tefln makes hand tightening easier prir t the final ¼ t ½ turn jining the cmpnents). Once yu have installed the System, place Tefln tape n the male thread f the adapter and install the secnd 1 x3/4 adapter n the right side as well. The assembled pump shuld lk like this: C1-100 Shwn 3. Apply Tefln tape t the ¾ male threads f bth the 1 x 3/4 adapters and the ¾ Brass T s abve. 4. Thread the supplied ¾ flex line t each side f pump, nt each ¾ adapter. Bend the flex lines s they are pinted upward with the pump n its back. Page 3

Yu are nw ready t place the pump in the cabinet. Place assembled pump n its back with the label facing up, underneath the ht and cld T s. Nw thread the ¾ flex line t the ¾ male thread n the custm T. Tighten all fittings t ensure there are n leaks. Pump Psitin: Install the pump in the Hrizntal psitin with the D MAND KONTROLS label facing up tward the sink. Be sure the arrw f the pump base pints left t right (ht water t cld water side) prir t cnnecting the flex-lines r adapters. Placement f the pump in a vertical psitin will decrease the life f the pump and result in an increased nise level. IMPORTANT NOTE: Use f any parts ther than the supplied D MAND KONTROLS parts, including check valves r flex-lines may restrict and delay the flw f water frm the water heater, and pssibly vid the warranty. Cnnect pump pwer crd t female receptacle in D MAND KONTROLS cntrller. Drill a 5/8 hle in the face f the cabinet where the D MAND KONTROLS pump is installed. Next, feed the tw wire cable thrugh the 5/8 hle; cnnect the hard-wired buttn t the tw lead cables. (Red and Black) The hard-wired buttn has tw (2) terminals t affix a wire n each side. Once the wires are firmly cnnected, yu can firmly press the rund buttn int the hle until secure. Page 4

Accessry: If a wireless receiver is being used, then cnnect the three (3) wire cable with the clr cded wires frm the D MAND KONTROLS pump t the three wires n the receiver. Example: red t red, green t green, and black t black. Make sure t use the three (3) wire nuts prvided t cap the cnnectins. Once all f the wires frm the DMAND KONTROLS bx are cnnected, then yu may plug the bx t the three prng 110v utlet. (Please nte the pump will start and run ne (1) cycle if there is nt ht water at the pump.) Using yur D MAND KONTROLS System: Yur D MAND KONTROLS System will typically run nly until ht water is received at the D MAND pump s temperature sensr. Once ht water is at the pump, at the furthest fixture, the system will shut dwn and remain drmant until: 1. The user interfaces with the pump again. 2. The D MAND KONTROLS System will NOT run if there is ht water at the pump. 3. The user des nt activate the pump. 4. When the user is running ht water there is n need t prime the ht water line. Page 5

DEDICATED RETURN LINE INSTALLATION Mdel C1-100 Installing yur ACT D MAND KONTROLS System If yur System needs t be installed n a dedicated return line then yur D MAND KONTROLS System can be installed at any lcatin n the dedicated return line. When installing the pump be sure t rientate the unit with the flw directin arrw pinted twards the water heater. The mtr/cylinder needs t be placed in a hrizntal psitin t ensure the unit is quiet and has the maximum life. When using a return line we need t ensure that the pump is nt installed directly abve the water heater r within 18. This may cause the unit t detect the heated water in the tank and nt functin as desired. T purge any air which may becme trapped in the pump it is recmmended that islatin valves may be installed in frnt and behind the pump. A drain valve will als make any maintenance quick and simple. (See diagram belw). ACT D MAND KONTROLS System includes built in Internal Flw Check Valve Yur ACT D MAND KONTORLS System has ¾ male pipe thread fittings (MPT) n either side f the pump which will need t be adapted t the existing plumbing line. Pipe sealant r Tefln tape is recmmended t ensure there are n leaks. Once the unit is plumbed in t the return line yu can then prceed t cnnecting the cntrllers. Using yur D MAND KONTROLS System: Yur D MAND KONTROLS System will typically run nly until ht water is present. Once ht water is at the pump, the system will shut dwn and remain drmant until: 1. The water cls dwn and needs t be circulated. 2. The user interfaces with the pump again. 3. The D MAND KONTROLS System will NOT run if there is ht water at the pump. 4. The user des nt activate the pump. 5. When the user is running ht water there is n need t prime the ht water line. Page 6
