TOURNAMENT RULES (AS MODIFIED BY AJI): Current International Judo Federation Contest Rules as modified by the Alaska Judo, Inc. will be used for this tournament. U18 Junior competitors receiving permission to compete in a senior division will compete with the rules applicable to the senior division (includes use of armbars). 3. U13 and younger - If you only bring a white gi then you must have your own white and blue belts. 4. New 2015 IJF Gi Sizing regulations will not be enforced. 5. A contestant that does not fit in the age/weight class may be dropped from competition or moved up to the next higher group: first by weight, then by age. 6. Only Students 5 years old and older on the day of competition will be allowed to participate as contestants. 7. Except when a competitor is competing in more than one division, a 3 minute rest period will be allowed between back to back matches. When competing in more than one division, back to back matches not in the same division will not receive a rest period. 8. You can only compete in one division except; if you are a U18 player or Master age Player and wish to compete in the senior division. Also if a senior open division is offered U18, Senior and Masters age players can also compete in this division. 9. A coaches chair will be provide at the mat side for each competitor. Coaching will be allowed by a single coach who must remain seated. 10. If the numbers of entrants in an age category are not sufficient to justify a L,M,H split we will go with a Light and Heavy weight division. 11. All age categories are based on year of birth. 12. The Tournament Director reserves the right to modify divisions in the best interest of the competitors and the tournament. Appropriate waver forms must be signed for affect competitor(s) Registering online means you have read and given you consent to the wavers forms. 13. All Shiai divisions will be Round Robin or two out of three for two player divisions. AWARDS: Medals: 1 st, 2 nd, 3 rd place Round Robin Tie break system: 1. Number of wins. 2. Head to Head win. 3. Acknowledge and fully understand that I will be engaging in a contact sport that might result in serious injury, including permanent disability or death, and severe social and economic losses due not only to my own actions, inactions or negligence, but also to the actions, inactions, or negligence of others, the rules of the sport of Judo, or conditions of the premises or of any equipment used. Further, I acknowledge that there may be other risks not known to me or not reasonably foreseeable at this time. 4. Knowing the risks involved in the sport of Judo, I assume all such risks and accept personal responsibility for the damages following such injury, permanent disability, TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury) or death. 5. Release, waive, discharge and covenant not to sue the United States Judo Inc., United States Judo Federation, United States Judo Association, Inc., Alaska Judo Inc., Cross Point Community Church, Mountain View Judo Club together with their affiliated clubs, their respective administrators, directors, agents, coaches, and other employees or volunteers of the organization, event officials, medical personnel, other participants, their parents, guardians, supervisors and coaches, sponsoring agencies, sponsors, advertisers, and if applicable, owners, lessors, and lessees of premises used in conducting the event, all of whom are hereinafter referred to as "releasee", from any and all claims, demands, losses, or damages on account of injury, including permanent disability and death or damage to property, caused or alleged to be caused in whole or in part by the negligence of the releasee or otherwise to the fullest extent permitted by law. If you consent to your child/student competing in a heavier or older weight division, please sign below. On the rare occasion a child/student may be moved to a lower age/weight division. This decision should be discussed with the instructor. If you do not sign below, your child/student may be excluded from the competition. If this occurs, your entry will be refunded. AJI or host club will not be responsible for transportation expenses to or from the tournament site, even if your child/student does not get to compete. Students should bring a current registration card to the competition site. Junior divisions are established on the basis of weight and age. By registering online you are giving your consent. Permission To Use Pictures/Video The Alaska State Judo Championships will be videotaped and photographed. By entering the tournament you give your permission for you and your child to be photographed and/or videotaped. I hereby give Alaska Judo Inc. the absolute right and permission to publish copyright and use pictures/video of the Applicant in which I may be included in whole or in part. If the person photographed/videotaped is under 18, I certify that I am his or her parent or legal guardian and I give my consent without reservation to the foregoing on his or her behalf. CERTIFICATE REGARDING JUNIOR AGE CONTESTANT'S ATHLETIC, TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITY TO COMPETE IN SENIOR DIVISION COMPETITION I certify that I am a Kodokan Judo instructor, or coach, holding the rank of Shodan or higher which has been awarded under the auspices of the United States Judo Federation, United States Judo Association, the United States Judo Inc., or a recognized foreign national governing body for Judo. I further certify that the junior competitor for which I have checked the instructor portion of the online registration or have submitted their name in the team registration list is currently a student

under my instruction, and that this competitor has sufficient athletic skill, technical knowledge, and skill in Judo shiai to SAFELY compete in a Senior Division. WAIVER AND RELEASE OF LIABILITY AND AGREEMENT TO PARTICIPATE AS A JUNIOR CONTESTANT IN A SENIOR DIVISION In consideration of being permitted to participate in any way, including travel to and from, in any Judo tournament, practice, clinic, and related events and activities of the United States Judo, Inc., United States Judo Federation, United States Judo Association, Alaska Judo, Inc., Cross Point Community Church, Mountain View Judo Club, I hereby: 1. Acknowledge that the senior division competition matches students 17 years and older attending the tournament who choose to participate in the senior division competition, by sex and weight classes, regardless of age or judo rank.
