2016-17 Coaching Staff Matilda Mossman Head Coach Western Kentucky, 1979-6th Year Matilda Mossman is in her sixth season at The University of Tulsa after being appointed as the head women s basketball coach on March 22, 2011. Mossman took over a five-win team and in just her second year won a conference championship and advanced to the NCAA Tournament. In her first season at the helm of the program (2011-12), the Golden Hurricane posted 13 wins, and finished league play with an 8-8 record and a sixth-place finish, but a year later, the program took another big step forward as the Hurricane captured the 2013 Conference USA tournament title, advanced to the NCAA Tournament and posted the first non-losing record (17-17) since 2006. In the 2015-16 campaign, the Golden Hurricane recorded a 12-19 mark, including an 8-10 record in The American for a sixth-place finish. During the 2013-14 season, Tulsa posted a 12-16 overall record, including a 6-10 mark in Conference USA, but bounced back to tally the first winning record (18-14) since 2006 and advance to the WNIT Second Round during the 2014-15 season. During her tenure, Mossman has coached two-time all-conference USA performer Taleya Mayberry, and helped Kelsee Grovey earn C-USA All-Freshman team accolades, as well as Mayberry, Grovey and Tiffani Couisnard receive C-USA All-Tournament team recognition in 2013. She also coached Ashley Clark to all-c-usa second team accolades as a sophomore, second team all-conference accolades and Sixth Man of the Year recognition as a junior in the American Athletic Conference, and third-team all-conference accolades as a senior. In 13 years as a collegiate head coach, Mossman has registered an overall 219-174 record. She had a 67-27 mark at Arkansas (1981-84), an 80-66 mark at Kansas State (1984-89), and has a 72-81 record in five seasons at Tulsa. She also coached on the high school level for nine seasons. In 22 years as a head coach, Mossman has compiled a 410-2274 record for a.643 winning percentage. In 2013, Mossman was one of three collegiate head coaches invited to be a court coach for the USA Basketball Women s U19 World Championship and World University Games Team Trials. Mossman was also one of 32 collegiate coaches invited to attend the 2013 Women s Basketball Coaches Association s (WBCA) Center for Coaching Excellence (CCE) program at Columbia University in New York City. More than 125 college women s basketball coaches have completed the program since its inception in 2011. The CCE, which was developed by Dr. M. Dianne Murphy, Director, Intercollegiate Athletics and Physical Education in partnership with the WBCA, is an elite leadership-training program that focuses on providing a deeper understanding and appreciation of the importance of ethics and integrity in college women s basketball. Prior to her appointment at Tulsa, Mossman served as the head basketball coach at Norman High School from 2002-11, where her teams compiled an overall 191-53 record for a.796 winning percentage. Her teams qualified for the Oklahoma Secondary Schools Athletic Association (OSSAA) Class 6A state tournament in the last eight of her nine seasons at NHS, and won eight straight regional championships. Mossman led Norman High School to the state title in 2005, and a runner-up performance in 2010. She was named the conference coach of the year three times, while earning regional and district coach of the year accolades twice. Mossman coached various players at Norman High School who earned college scholarships, including Division I student-athletes Sarah Gayler (New Orleans), Sade Morris (Kansas), Kara Vaughan (Tulsa), Taylor Hardeman (Oklahoma State), Ashley Bruner (South Carolina), Lacy Ramon (Mercer) and Kamra King (Texas-San Antonio). Before her appointment at Norman High School, Mossman spent one year as the assistant girls basketball coach at Norman North High School, and that team completed the season with a 22-4 record and advanced to the Class 6A state semifinals. Before moving to Norman, Mossman spent seven years (1994-2001) as a health & physical education teacher and girls basketball coach at Normal (Ill.) Community High School. Mossman began her coaching career as a graduate assistant coach at her alma mater, Western Kentucky University, in 1979. The next season, Mossman served as an assistant coach at the University of Arkansas. A year later, at age 24, Mossman was promoted to the head coaching position at Arkansas, where she served for three seasons. She was a member of the same athletic department staff with athletic director Frank Broyles, head football coach Lou Holtz and men s basketball coach Eddie Sutton. With three freshmen starters, Mossman s first Lady Razorback squad in 1981-82 compiled a 26-10 record and advanced to the Sweet 16 of the final AIAW National Tournament. It was the first of three straight 20-win seasons at Arkansas. Mossman then served as the head coach at Kansas State (1984-89), where she posted four winning seasons in five years. Her 1987 Wildcat team won the Big Eight Conference Championship and posted an overall 22-9 record, and for her efforts she was named the Big Eight Conference Coach of the Year. Following her stint at Kansas State, Mossman served as an assistant coach at Illinois State under WBCA Hall of Fame Coach Jill Hutchison for three seasons (1991-94). She left the collegiate coaching profession following the 1993-94 season to spend time raising her two sons, while also teaching and coaching in Illinois. 2016-17 Coaching Staff 2016-17 Prospectus Shane Coffey Associate Head Coach Oklahoma State, 1994-6th Year Shane Coffey is in his sixth season at The University of Tulsa. In his first season, he helped coach a team that had earned just five wins in the previous year to a team that posted 13 wins, finished league play with an 8-8 record and a sixth-place league finish, which was the best since 2006. In 2012-13, the Golden Hurricane program take another big step forward as Tulsa captured the Conference USA tournament title, advanced to the NCAA Tournament and posted the first non-losing record (17-17) since 2006. In the 2015-16 campaign, the Golden Hurricane recorded a 12-19 mark, including an 8-10 record in The American for a sixth-place finish. During the 2013-14 season, TU posted a 12-16 overall record, including a 6-10 mark in Conference USA, but bounced back to tally the first winning record (18-14) since 2006 and advance to the WNIT Second Round during the 2014-15 season. Before his appointment, Coffey served 11 seasons as the head girl s basketball coach at Edmond Memorial High School. He compiled an overall 196-86 record while leading eight of his teams to the regional championship. Coffey s teams advanced to the state quarterfinals six times (2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2010 and 2011) and moved into the semifinals in four of those seasons. Coffey was named the Regional Coach of the Year three times and twice was selected as the Mid-State Conference Coach of the Year. He helped 24 of his players earn college scholarships, including five at Division I schools. Previously, Coffey served as the assistant boy s basketball coach at Edmond Memorial High School for four years (1996-2000) and was the head boy s coach at Edmond Central Middle School for two seasons (1994-96). Leah Foster Recruiting Coordinator St. Edward s, 2006-2nd Year Leah Foster is in her second year at The University of Tulsa as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator. In the 2015-16 campaign, the Golden Hurricane recorded a 12-19 mark, including an 8-10 record in The American for a sixth-place finish. Foster served as the recruiting coordinator and assistant coach for Loyola during the 2014-15 season. She was responsible for nation-wide recruiting, all defensive organization and planning, individual player development, scouting of opponents, and was the compliance liaison. Foster helped coach the Ramblers Taylor Manuel who was named Missouri Valley Conference Newcomer of the Year and picked up first-team all-conference accolades this past season. Prior to Loyola, Foster was an assistant coach at Houston for three seasons (2011-14), where she recruited the 22nd-best class in 2012 according to Dan Olson s Collegiate Girls Basketball Report and the 39th-best class by ESPN HoopGurlz. Before her stint at Houston, Foster spent three seasons (2008-11) as an assistant coach at Dartmouth College. She helped the Big Green capture the 2009 Ivy League Championship, while posting an 18-11 record and earning a bid to the NCAA Tournament. Foster began her coaching career as a graduate assistant with the Texas State women s basketball program for two years (2006-08). Foster was a four-year letterwinner at St. Edward s University (Austin, Texas), an NCAA Division II program. She led the Hilltoppers to the 2006 Heartland Conference Championship and was tabbed to the all-conference second team in 2005. Foster earned her bachelor s degree in English literature from St. Edward s University in 2006 and her master s degree in physical education-sports management from Texas State in 2008. Coffey received his bachelor s degree in social sciences and education from Oklahoma State in 1994. He and his wife, Kerri, have a son, Hayden, and a daughter, Emersyn.

2016-17 Coaching Prospectus Staff Megan Robbins Assistant Coach Oklahoma State, 2009-4th Year Megan Robbins is in her fourth year at The University of Tulsa. In the 2015-16 campaign, the Golden Hurricane recorded a 12-19 mark, including an 8-10 record in The American for a sixth-place finish. During the 2013-14 season, TU posted a 12-16 overall record, including a 6-10 mark in Conference USA, but bounced back to tally the first winning record (18-14) since 2006 and advance to the WNIT Second Round during the 2014-15 season. Robbins came to Tulsa following one season as a graduate assistant coach at Oklahoma State. She assisted with post player development, helped with in-practice drills and assisted the recruiting coordinator in daily responsibilities. Prior to coaching at Oklahoma State, Robbins served as a graduate assistant coach at Pittsburg State for one season (2011-12) and as an assistant coach at Northern Oklahoma College-Enid for one season (2010-11). She helped Pitt State reach the NCAA Division II Elite 8 in 2012 and a year earlier helped Northern Oklahoma JC advance to the NJCAA Final Four. Robbins (then Byford) played at OSU for three seasons (2007-10), where she was a starting post player for two years and served as team captain as a senior. She helped guide the Cowgirls to three-straight postseason tournament appearances, including a Sweet 16 showing in 2008, the WNIT Second Round in 2009, and a No. 3 seed and NCAA Second Round performance in 2010. Robbins led the Cowgirls in field goal percentage all three years, and finished her career ranked fourth in field goal percentage and sixth in blocked shots. Robbins began her college career at Northern Oklahoma College-Enid, where she was named a third-team NJCAA All-American and led the nation in field goal percentage at 71.4-percent. Christine Elliott Director of Player Development/Team Manager SMU, 2012-4th Year Christine Elliott is in her fourth year at Tulsa, but second season in her current role as the Director of Player Development/Team Manager. Elliott previously served as the Video Coordinator and Graduate Manager each for one year. Elliott came to Tulsa from Butler Community College where she was an assistant basketball coach during the 2012-13 season. Elliott was a four-year letterwinner at SMU from 2008-12, playing in 121 games. During her career, she scored 1,167 points and pulled down 900 rebounds, and set two records for most rebounds by a freshman (224) and most rebounds in a game (21). Elliott was named to the Conference USA All-Tournament Team as a senior in 2012 and to the C-USA All-Freshman Team in 2009. Elliott earned her bachelor s degree in sociology in 2012 from SMU. Tad Wedel Video Coordinator Kansas, 2015-2nd Year Tad Wedel is in his second year as the Video Coordinator for the women s basketball program at Tulsa. Wedel came to Tulsa from the University of Kansas, where he served as a student manager for the women s basketball team from 2013 to 2015.
