MMHS Golden Eagle HighFLIGHTS: *Maple Mountain Girls Varsity team rose to the top of a 16 team tournament at the Green Valley Invitational over the weekend September 13th -14th. With decisive wins against Payson, Dixie and Bountiful, the Lady Golden Eagles moved into the coveted top semi-final rounds of Saturday. 1st Doubles, Ashley Lewis/Sarah Vorkink, took 3rd place against Davis and 2nd doubles, Michelle Parrott/Emma Harlan, had the best result at 2nd place. Cassie Knapp,3rd singles, finished 4th. 1st and 2nd singles, Ashley Brown and Caroline Hickey had tough draws and both finished 6th. The overall team finished 3rd. Well done! Thank you! *Workshops being held during Parent/Teacher Conference on Wed, Sept 18 th : 1) Sterling Scholar Information 5:00 pm: For Seniors who are interested in applying for the Sterling Scholar Recognition Award and scholarship competition, preliminary information on the application process will be available. This informal question and answer session will be helpful for students and parents who plan to apply. 2) Searching and applying for scholarships using the MMHS Counseling data base 5:30 pm: This workshop is especially for Seniors who are currently organizing and preparing scholarship applications. A counselor will be available with tips and practical advice on the application process. *Josten s Visit: Josten s will be at our school on Thurs, Sept 19 th, for students to order cap, gown, announcements, and class rings. Order information packets can be picked up in the counseling office or the main office, or you may contact Josten s @ 435-688-8409 or www.jostens.com *School Picture Make-up Day: Our School Picture Make-up Day is scheduled for Thurs, Sept 26 th from 7:30-9:00 am on our auditorium stage. Please be sure to get your picture taken, even if you are not purchasing a packet, so you will get a Student ID Card and be included in our yearbook. *MMHS Elleves Jr. Drill Clinic: The MMHS Elleves will hold their annual Jr. Drill Clinic, Sept 23-26, 2013. This clinic is for girls ages 3 to 14 and is instructed by members of the Elleves Drill Team. Participants will learn a routine and some dance/trill technique. There will be a boy s hip hop class this year for boys ages 5 to 10. On Thurs, Sept 26, all participants will perform the routines learned at half-time of the MMHS JV football game. Registration will be on Tues, Sept 17 from 5-7pm, just outside the MMHS Dance Studio (Room A-117). Classes will begin on Mon, Sept 23 at 4pm and will end at 5pm. Cost for the Clinic is $25, which includes four days of instruction and a t-shirt. Any participant who participated in the Clinic last fall, and already has a t-shirt, can pay $20, if you do not want to buy another shirt. Flyers with a $5 discount are available from any member of the MMHS Drill Team. Be sure your student has completed the blue Parking Pass Application (with parent signature), and has paid the $10 Parking Pass Fee to the Finance Office. Passes are issued in the morning before school, during lunch, or after school in the Security Office. Citations will be issued starting Monday, Sept 9 th. *PTA Reflections Contest: Unleash your artistic talents! The PTA Reflections Contest is coming right up! In addition to memorizing and performing great poems, students will have the opportunity to discuss poetry and even write and perform their own poems.
