We each have areas of the Club that are more important to us, show them why you belong to MCC. To be able to maintain the improvements we have made in the Club over the past 10 years we must continue to maintain and increase membership. The key to future growth in your club is growth in membership numbers and participation. Your personal involvement in recruitment of membership is essential to the success and growth of the Club. Take the time today to look around you at home, work, and social groups for prospective members for the Club. Encourage them to come see the Club as your guest. Bring them to a Comedian or other social functions, play golf during the great fall conditions of your course, or just come out for a pleasant evening in the Clubhouse. The key is show them Your Club this fall, and plant the seed for when the Board announces programs to entice new memberships this winter. The Board will address membership incentives in December and we can all follow up with the prospects to encourage them to join us. Nothing beats a personal invitation, it is OUR FUTURE! Macomb Country Club procedure changes: (The Board updated the Golf Course dress code this summer for Men to include shirts with collars are now required for the golf facility as well as the Clubhouse. The Greens Committee asks that all golfers let the Pro Shop know they are planning to play. Signing in is not required, but appreciate you making sure the staff knows you are on the course in case someone needs you. The Greens Committee now requires all golfers renting golf carts to pick up their key in the Pro Shop. The Bainter Family along with McDonough District Hospital thank the Macomb Country Club Women s Association for holding the annual Golf for the Girls Stagette event. Thanks to the work and generosity of the Club members they raised $1,300 for Linda s Fund to help local Citizens dealing with Breast Cancer. Thank you for your continued support!! Trees coming end of September Many members have offered to donate $125 for transplanting 14-17 Oak trees onto the golf course. Bill Heap has offered a large variety of Oak trees to be planted on Macomb Country Club. The person we are paying to transplant the trees wants to wait until the trees start to change colors so they are hibernating prior to moving. We have been told to prepare for the trees late this month and early October. We have 30 trees donated, plus funds from the Spring NCAA social to get this project moving. Any members still wishing to donate tree(s) please contact Gary Sutton at the Pro Shop to get added to the list. You will not be charged until the tree is planted. You may observe some trees being taken down between holes 4, 5, and 8 as we trim some trees to make room for new. The reason for this is that all of these trees were planted at the same time, and are starting to show signs of deterioration. Our goal is to get new trees up and growing prior to this group of trees dying. We greatly appreciate the generous funding of these trees, and the gift from Bill Heap for excellent golf course trees. We DO NEED HELP WATERING THESE TREES once they are planted. We will be placing perforated buckets next to each tree to slowly water the trees. We will also load a water tank on the back of a grounds cart to haul water to the trees. We need members to sign up to help fill these buckets by driving the water to the trees. Jack McPherson and Jim Keeney have offered to help coordinate the rotation of volunteers to water these trees. It will take a membership effort to assure the success of these trees. If you are willing to help with the watering please let Gary Sutton know and he will keep a list of volunteers.
