Resolution # 1 - get out and enjoy the snow. We are very fortunate to have so many great ski resorts within an easy drive of our homes. A recent article in the Poughkeepsie Journal on December 11th, titled On A Budget gave the reader many good points on making skiing affordable and prompted me to reach out to the author to offer our resources for a follow-up article on the advantages of joining a ski club. Hope to hear back soon, maybe he would be willing to give us a presentation on news reporting. As you read this newsletter I have traded in my boots for sandals and my poles for golf clubs. Terry and I spend January in a warmer climate, but we will be back north for the trips in February and March. I hope to meet up with the HVSC SOUTH gang in Tampa while I m in the area. Be sure to check elsewhere in this newsletter and on our website for any openings on the ski trips, as we have had some cancellations and need to fill spots ASAP. Remember Resolution # 1 Keith R. Never been skiing? Or maybe you have skied only a few times and need some help. Sunday, January 13 at Jiminy Peak will be your opportunity to take a lesson geared for beginners and novices. Share the passion; bring a friend, neighbor, brother/sister, parent, grandparent, children (age 12+). A lesson will also be available for intermediate and advanced skiers. Club Info 5 The HVSC Holiday Party A good time was had by all! A big thank you is sent to all who attended our club s holiday party. It was the people who made this party great. There were about 45 people at this holiday Race Training. Apologies for the food being slow to arrive. But the conversation was not slow and all had a good time. Thank you to Robin Smith for organizing the food drive. The results went to The Food Bank of the Hudson Valley. The Food Bank sent it on to the non-profit Amber House for at risk teens. Emily at Amber House said the kids particularly liked the breakfast foods. Thanks to all who contributed. It was good to see everyone. Let s do this again next year. Happy Holidays!
