Who is Eva Safaris? Melonie Eva is more than a professional photographer & owner of a Safari tour company. Melonie is an optimistic, enthusiastic, dedicated person who loves life and believes in pursuing dreams and never giving up. She has lived a life of both blessing and challenge. Although Melonie was born and raised in Zimbabwe where she was a natural and avid outdoors woman from an early age, roaming the rural bush with her Australian Cattle Dogs, she has also lived and worked in seven other African countries and throughout North America. Following her studies in Marketing, Tourism and Hospitality management in Cape Town South Africa on a field hockey scholarship. She opened an Overland Safari Adventure company where she operated specialized tours to central Africa, managed wildlife areas, and set up operational procedures in remote safari locations. Melonie also travelled to the United States teaching and training Silver Service standards in the hospitality industry. She has managed hotels, safari lodges, even a golf course over the course of her career, all the while pursuing her love and passion for Wildlife photography and Adventure travel. Melonie has been blessed with a life few people get to experience. She has raised rescued lion cubs, lived with orphaned elephants, and been immersed in many diverse cultures, but she has also experienced much personal tragedy and danger. In 2007 Melonie suffered severe burns in a gasoline explosion, resulting in 2 grueling years of recovery and surgeries. Melonie s fighting spirit and optimism however, swiftly saw her back in the saddle with camera in hand; ready to take on whatever the world threw at her.
As a wildlife Photographer, Melonie is published in publications around the world and has won numerous awards. Melonie does not like to call herself a professional photographer as she believes that term has expired, she merely wants to be an artist who will grow, challenge, explore, improve, develop, teach and share her artistry with the world. Today she lives in Canada with her husband where she owns and operates a tour company, taking people around Canada as well as other destinations on 3 different continents. In her spare time she teaches photography workshops, sells her own photography and fine art around the world, enjoys hobbyist interior design, and makes appearances as a motivational speaker.
