The Rock closed to within 1, 66-65, with 3:52 to play before the Eagles scored five straight points to regain the momentum. Lloyd Harrison led Clarion with 20 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 steals. Shameel Carty (15 points, 12 rebounds) and Paul McQueen (14 points, 11 rebounds) each had double-doubles and Jamar Harrison added 17 points, 7 rebounds. Last year, Clarion split a pair of games with Mercyhurst in the Lakers first year in the PSAC-West losing 75-64 at Mercyhurst before winning 69-66 at Clarion. Clarion looks for 4-1 PSAC-West start Clarion is looking for its first 4-1 start in PSAC- West play since starting 4-1 in 2004. Bettering 2009 The Golden Eagles have already bettered there 2009 PSAC win total with three victories while tying the 2009 total wins with 11. With 11 victories, Clarion has double-digit wins for the 23rd straight year and for the 39th time in the last 40 seasons. Home is where the heart is Clarion is 7-1 at home this season. Tonight s game is the 5th in a stretch of 8 of 11 at Tippin Gym. So far, the Eagles have gone 3-1 during the stretch. The win over The Rock assured Clarion of a winning season at home. This date in Clarion History Jan. 27, 1979 Clarion 76, at Slippery Rock 58 Clarion used a 10-0 run late in the 1st half to erase a 9-point deficit and gain a 34-33 halftime lead on an Alvin Gibson jumper and then outscored defending PSAC-West champion Slippery Rock 42-25 in the 2nd half to improve to 15-3. 5-0 in the PSAC-West. Reggie Wells led the Eagles with 22 points despite being saddled with 3 1st half fouls. Mike Sisinni added 17 points including 10 in the 2nd half with Mark Lockridge adding 12 and Gibson 11. About the 1979 Season Joe DeGregorio s Eagles went 22-6, 9-1 PSAC- West winning title. Clarion lost 72-71 at Cheyney in the PSAC title game before beating PSU-Behrend 111-88 in the 1st round of the NAIA District 18 playoffs. Clarion lost to Point Park 97-84 in the D-18 second round. Wells led Clarion with 19.5 ppg, 9.9 rpg on his way to a school-record 2,011 points (now 2nd) and the 2nd most rebounds in school history, 1,120 (still 2nd). Sisinni added 11.2 ppg and 160 assists, at the time the 2nd most in school history (now T-6th) on his way to a school record 603 helpers (now 2nd). Gibson (11.6 ppg), Lockridge (10.1 ppg), Jeff Ebner (10.5 ppg) and Dan Chojnacki (9.3 ppg, 9.1 rpg, 99 assists) also played key roles for the Golden Eagles. Golden Eagle player notes Lloyd Harrison steps up in the clutch Lloyd Harrison played a key role in Clarion s two 3-point PSAC-West wins last week while being at his best in the clutch. In addition to hitting the game-winning 3-pointer at the horn to beat Cal79-76 Wed., Lloyd scored 17 of his 21 points in the 2nd half while also handing out assists on two baskets late in the game that erased a 2-point deficit and gave Clarion a 76-74 lead in the final minute. Then Sat. in the 76-73 win over Slippery Rock, Lloyd scored 9 of his 20 points and dished out 3 assists after the game was tied at 50. Lloyd has 10 straight double-digit games including 3 20-plus contests with 2 in a row. Lloyd is 3rd in the PSAC in assists (5.0 apg). Jamar Harrison back in range Sr. SG Jamar Harrison has regained his range after a mini-2 game slump that saw him score just 12 points Jan. 10-13. Since then, he has 3 straight double-digit games while avg. 16.3 ppg and shooting 62.5% 20 of 32 from the floor. On the year, Jamar has 15 double-digit games including 8 of 15 or more points and 5 of 20 or more points while shooting at least 50% 11 times.
