ACCOMMODATION ACCOMMODATION Tented Safari Camp This is a real wilderness adventure, with the camps built in the most beautiful surroundings, often next to a river where you can sit and watch the animal life. Every year camps are set up in areas, depending on the season, where many buffalo are present. The camp consists of 4-5 large tents each of which can house 2 camp beds. It is easy to stand upright in the tents, and there are no small tents that would be uncomfortable for 2 people. It is of course possible to request that hunters have a tent to themselves, if the group is not too large. All meals are served in the open air. There are tables and chairs set up next to the camp kitchen, which is set up as an extension of the tents. Surprisingly good, well prepared and drinks are served in camp. It must be said the camps are rather remote, with no town or even other people within a radius of many kilometers. First aid treatment is available in camp, but if anything more acute occurs, there is a small medical post in Bulman, which is a 1-2 hour drive from the hunting camp. to explore the area s rich wildlife. Often the camps are pitched on the banks of a river, from where you can sit and watch the animal life. It is absolutely possible to bring along your family, but it is important that they are nature-lovers as most of the camps are far from towns and other attractions, but they do offer the chance Page 3
PARTNER PARTNER Australian Buffalo Hunters Our partners here are Australian Buffalo Hunters, who are owned by Graham Williams. He has hunted and arranged hunting in Arnhemland since the late 90 s which makes Australian Buffalo Hunters are one of very biggest names in the business when it comes to hunting water buffalo. In the hunting district their focus is very much on game management, which over the years has helped sec ure hunters here some very large trophies indeed. Our outfitter Graham Williams works in close partnership with the local population here in Arnhemland, namely the Aborigines. The animal populations are assessed every year, allowing them to decide how many buffalo can be shot in the coming year. This helps to ensure the size and the quality of the buffalo population remain at an optimal level. The hunting camps are also moved on a year to year basis, to make sure that the hunting and its effect on the animal life is kept as even as possible. Page 4
HUNTING HUNTING AREA AREA Arnhemland Arnhemland, where the hunt takes place, covers 100,000 km2, which is more than twice the size of Denmark. It is possible to choose between 2 modes of transport to get to the hunting district. The most comfortable is clearly chartering an aircraft to fly from Darwin to Bulman, an aboriginal town in the heart of Arnhemland. The flight takes 1.5 hours, and is followed by a car journey of around 1-2 hours out to the hunting camp. The second alternative is to drive by car the whole way to the hunting district. This takes around 10-12 hours, and makes for a very exciting journey, during which you can enjoy experiencing both the town of Katherine and the changing countryside along the way. Many hours are spend driving along gravel roads. To fit in with the planned arrivals and departures from the hunting camp, the outfitter decides which of the transport alternatives will be planned for. hair stand on end. It is possible to bring your own rifle of hire one in the district. We recommend hiring a rifle here, as both the rifles and sights they have available are of very high quality.
