Supervision is not provided -- all skaters under 12 must be supervised by a parent. Buy your Pizza Party tickets (for family members and skaters) when you buy Ice Show tickets. ! Donate Facebook Auction Items - We are seeking donations of new items or gift cards (expiring Dec 31, 2018 or later) for our Ice Show Facebook Auction, our main fundraising initiative to defray the many expenses related to our Ice Show production. We are asking all SMFSC members to try and contribute one item. Items can be dropped off in our Office inside Rink 3 during skating session hours before Friday, March 9th.! Confirm group/practice times Practice times will be posted online and at the rink. Skater groups will also be posted at the rink. MAY 7 MAY 24 DATES TO REMEMBER: May 7 th, 2018 May 10 th, 2018 CanSkate Rehearsals begins Starskate Rehersals begins May 14 th, 2018 Picture Day Schedule Posted Friday, May 18 th ~ 4PM 7PM (TBA) Curtain Call Finale Rehearsal TBA 6PM 9PM Costume Pickup TBA Picture Day THINGS TO DO:! Attend Curtain Call Finale Rehearsal - During the ice Show, we bring all of the participants back on the ice for a curtain call at the end of the 1st and 2nd half. With so many skaters on the ice at the same time, we have found that it s important for all of our skaters to participate in a rehearsal so they know where to go during performances. ***Note For CANSkaters / PreJunior The Curtain Call at the end of the 1 st half of each show will involve all of our CanSkate and /STARSkate participants. The Curtain Call at the end of the 2 nd half of each show will involve all of our 2 nd half PreJunior/STARskate participants, plus our soloists and guest skaters.! Pick up your costume Costumes are rented so we cannot guarantee exact sizing, but parents are able to make hand-sewn and removable adjustments on their own. FOR Starskate GIRLS ONLY: Our girls will need to have beige boot cover skating tights these will be available for sale during Costume Pickup. Costume pick up day to be determined! Ensure all equipment is in order All skaters need to have skates PLUS skate guards (be sure to write your NAME on your guards so they don t get lost!). Make sure skate laces are in good condition so helpers don t have to contend with broken laces before a performance. Gloves are not worn during performances but will be worn during practices. Starskate girls need beige boot cover skating tights if you are not able to purchase them during Costume Pickup, they are also available at Mirena s 2219 Dunwin Drive Mississauga; Ice & Nice 2445 Glenwood School Drive Burlington).! Gather any hair and make-up supplies Skaters who will be wearing make-up during the performance are asked not to share make-up supplies -- so be sure to send your skater in with black mascara and lipstick (skaters should check with their group s choreographer/coach to see if any other items are required) plus supplies they need for their hair.! Ice Show picture day Schedule will be posted on the Rink 3 bulletin board and website be sure to have your skater there 15 minutes before the scheduled time, in full costume and wearing skates/skate guards (make-up as appropriate). Photos will take approximately 15 minutes per group. Our photographer is unable to take photos of late skaters. Group photos appear in the Ice Show program (for sale at each performance). Skaters can purchase their photo package during the 2018 Ice Show Parent & Skater Guide 4

Important -- Feed your skater - Once skaters are in their dressing rooms for the dress rehearsal and Ice Show performances, they are there supervised by dressing room volunteers -- for the duration. Parents cannot drop into dressing rooms and skaters are not able to come and go. It s really important to feed your skater prior to dropping them off (and be sure send them in with a peanut- and mess-free snack). Because of the number of skaters with food allergies, skaters will not be permitted to share their snacks, and SMFSC is unable to arrange or provide food for participants.! Skater drop off: For the Dress Rehearsal and for each of the 3 performances, skaters are to be dropped off by parents at the table in front of Iceland Rink 1 see chart below for dropoff and approximate pick-up times. Skaters will be supervised in their dressing rooms for the duration of all three performances and they cannot come and go, nor can parents drop into dressing rooms. If you have any questions, please don t hesitate to ask our Ice Show Director Julie Gryniewski, during Ice Show rehearsals! Skater sign-in/sign out: Parents will have to sign skaters in and leave a cell phone number where they can be reached for the duration of the show -- and then they will pick their skater up at the designated time and must sign their skater out. If one parent is dropping off and another picking up, those arrangements must be made at time of drop-off.! Pizza party: With limited time between our Saturday matinee and evening performances, it s often too tight a time-frame to get home and back for the later performance. This year, we are offering a pizza party for all Ice Show participants and. Supervision is not provided -- all 2018 Ice Show Parent & Skater Guide 5

IMPORTANT TO NOTE: Skaters must be dropped off according to times listed above. Skaters are supervised by parent volunteers in their assigned change room during performances. They are not permitted to leave change rooms during the show (i.e. to visit snack bar or use vending machines). There is no audience permitted for dress rehearsal. Parents will drop-off and pick-up skaters according to the schedule above. We recommend parents especially with younger skaters) plan down-time for their child between the two Saturday shows, so they are not too tired during the evening performance. (There is a Pizza Party upstairs at Iceland tickets for skaters and family members available when Ice Show tickets are sold. There is no supervision; all skaters under 12 must be supervised by a parent). Parents and family members must purchase Ice Show tickets for each performance they wish to attend. (CANSkate/ Prejunior only Skaters who are performing in either 1 st or 2 nd half of the show do not need an Ice Show ticket to join parents sitting in General seating. Skaters who wish to join parents in On-Ice seating will need their own ticket.) 2018 Ice Show Parent & Skater Guide 6

What your skater should bring (dress rehearsal and all 3 Ice Show performances)! Skate bag include skates, guards, cloth (to wipe blades)! ***FOR CANSKATERS - HELMET CanSkaters level 1 through 5 MUST bring their helmets! Costume Ensure all items are included. Hair and make-up items -- Skaters who will be wearing make-up during the performance are asked not to share make-up supplies -- so be sure to pack black mascara and lipstick (skaters should check with their group s choreographer/coach to see if any other items are required) plus any needed hair supplies.! Bottle of water + peanut- and mess-free snacks Many of our skaters will be hungry and thirsty while they are in their dressing rooms. Please be sure to send your skater with PEANUT-FREE and MESS-FREE snacks. Given that all our costumes are rented, dressing room volunteers will be asked to ensure that skaters do not eat greasy or otherwise messy snacks, to ensure that the Club does not have to pass along additional cleaning bills to participants.! Entertainment While dressing rooms will include colouring and activity books and some board games, you may want to send your skater with books/magazines or mess-free crafts that can be enjoyed in a group. Any electronic devices (hand-held games, ipods, iphones) are sent at your own risk; SMFSC is not responsible for any lost or stolen items. AFTER THE LAST PERFORMANCE Costume return, DVD order!
