Vol 3 Number 3 March/April 2015 OPENING HOURS QUILTER S GAZETTE What a challenging month it has been for so many the weather events have been relentless. My heart goes out to all those who have lost their homes and their treasured possessions it makes me very thankful that we have come through unscathed. I wish everyone affected strength as they rebuild and move forward. I recently attended a store owner s convention where I had the opportunity to meet with some very talented pattern designers. I am amazed at the talent we have in Australia how lucky we are. Keep your eyes peeled for some new patterns coming into the store soon from a range of Australian designers bags, kid s clothing, adult clothing and the odd quilt. They are quite yummy! I am so excited to have my tuffet classes up and running! Tuffets are just so gorgeous, make a great gift and are a ton of fun to make. The first two classes have sold out, so you need to get in quick to score a place. I plan to run classes monthly for a while, to keep up with demand, so keep looking for a date that suits you. The great thing is that the classes will run on a weekend, making it available to everyone. We will be making our mark in a big way soon with our advertising, so keep your eyes peeled for new signage. Full payment required at time of booking. 101 Basics of Terri will guide you through some of the basic dressmaking techniques you need to make your own garments. This techniques course is run over 6 weeks. Learn how to read patterns, cut out fabrics, do professional seam finishes, set in sleeves, make collars, make buttons and buttonholes, gathering & ruffling, make waistbands & casings, do shirring, make darts and so much more. 2 courses running in March and April: Day course - Tuesday 3 rd, 10 th, 31 st March, 7 th, 14 th, 21 st April, 9.30am Evening course Monday 9 th, 16 th, 23 rd, 30 th, March, 13 th, 20 th April, 6pm, Cost of course is $150, with $50 deposit required to secure your place in the class.

We will cover piping, flatlocking, lace insertion, zipper insertion and a host of other fun ways to use your overlocker. Friday 27 th March (9.30am 1pm) $25 + requirements. Beginner s Patchwork Learn how to make a fully lined vest for your special little one in under 2 hours! No hand sewing needed! Finish off the look with a super quick and easy shorts pattern. We will be using the very latest and newly released pattern from Monica Poole of Moonshine Designs. Suitable for all levels. $25 plus pattern and requirements. Friday 17 th April, Learn the basics of piecing, and rotary cutting with Terri while making this beautiful but easy quilt block, the Tumbler block. Make your quilt as large or as small as you want, simply by adding blocks. Perfect for complete beginners. 2 class options available Thursday 19 th March, 6pm OR Monday 23rd March, $25 plus requirements. Forever Yours Wedding Ring Table Runner We continue with Judy Neimeyer s paper piecing technique. 13 th & 20th March, 9.30am 3.30pm. Group 1 Thursday 5 th & 19 th March, Thursday 2 nd & 23rd April, Have you ever wondered how to piece tiny pieces by hand? This class will teach you the tricks to managing small pieces to create beautiful hand stitched masterpieces, using the English Paper Piecing method.
