Program Details: Pickleball is a racquet sport combining elements of tennis, badminton, and table tennis. The court is around the size of a badminton court and the goal is to use a paddle to hit the ball over the net beginning with an underhand serve. Games can be played as singles or doubles. Pickleball is a great activity for any individual 12 years and older who would like to learn about the sport and play in a pickup style environment. Players will play either singles or doubles matches and all matches are called by the players; there are no officials. Interested participants can sign up by either paying for a entire session pass for $18 or you can pay $3 at the door each night the program is offered. Sessions are comprised of every Tuesday and Thursday for 6 weeks. Players must be 16 years and older to play. All teams must be registered and paid in full before their first league game. Fee: $10 for entire session or $2 per night. Session is 9 weeks long Season Dates: Sept. 4th - Nov. 6th Dates & Time: Tuesday evenings from 7-9 PM Location: Turner Middle School Details: The Berthoud Recreation Drop-in Volleyball program is for any individual 16 years and older who wants to play in a pickup style environment. Players will split up into teams and call their own match. Registration Deadline: August 6th Fee: $240 per team. Ages: 16 & Over Season Dates: Aug. 12th - Oct. 21st Game Nights & Time: Sunday evenings 5-9 PM Location: Bein Park Baseball/Softball Fields Details: The Berthoud Recreation Co-ed Kickball League consists of an 8 game regular season followed by an end of the year single elimination tournament. Participants must be 16 years old and over to play and team rosters can have 8-16 players on them. Teams must have an equal number of men and women on the team. All games will be played on Sunday evenings at the Bein Park baseball fields. Winners of the league tournament will receive championship t-shirts. pg. 9 **Important Registration Policies and Procedures are available on our website at www.berthoud.org Registration Dates for Youth Recreation Activities: Fall Registration: July 1st thru July 31st **Volunteer Coaches needed for all sports. Call Wes or Bethany at 532-1600** $10 late fee will be applied starting August 1st! Limited scholarships are available for children of qualifying low income families from the Berthoud office of House of Neighborly Service. For details please call 532-0161. The following Parks and Recreation Policies and Procedures are implemented to help the Parks and Recreation staff formulate a well-organized, fair and fun recreational environment for all to enjoy. 1. Registration will be open to the public for a one month period. 2. Documentation for proof of age and grade level may be requested at any time. 3. Deadlines will be strictly enforced to ensure management efficiency, safety and quality of programs. 4. No team registrations! Parks and Recreation only accepts individual registrations on a first come first serve basis. 5. There will be NO Team, Friend or League Requests allowed. We do allow for registrations to note days and times they cannot make practices when they register but we cannot guarantee those requests will always be granted when teams are formed. 6. If there are not enough numbers for certain age groups or grade levels, the recreation department may choose to combine age groups or grade levels. 7. The Recreation Department cannot guarantee a program will run until registration has ended and participant levels have been determined. 8. After the registration deadline, late registrations will be taken only if there are spots available. If the program is full, a wait list will be started. 9. After the monthly registration period ends, a $10 late fee will be added to all late registrations. 10. A coaches meeting will be held before each season to form teams, schedule practices, go over rules and conduct a training program. 11. Participants are encouraged to play in their age/grade level. If a participant wishes to play in a different age level, a Play Up/Play Down form must be completed and Recreation staff will make the final decision on if a participant can move grade/age levels. 12. Coach s kids will automatically be put on their team along with one assistant coach s kid. A. Each coach is allowed one assistant coach. 13. Any late registrations after the coaches meeting will be placed on a team if room permits it. 14. Only Parks and Recreation Department Staff have authority to switch or move players from teams. Coaches do not have the authority to switch a player to a different team, regardless of the reason to do so. 15. Coaches are volunteers and have no authority to guarantee roster positions on team, certain practice days and times or take registration. 16. After teams are formed, coaches will call players to let them know of their team and practice time. 17. Cancelled games due to weather are not guaranteed to be rescheduled. Parks and Recreation will attempt to reschedule games; however this is not a guarantee. 18. All coaches must get a background check & concussion training done before coaching. Time: 5:30-6:30 PM Location: Pioneer Park Program Details: The Berthoud Recreation Little Strikers soccer program is for kids ages 3 to 4 years old who can t wait to get on the field and play soccer. This is a 6 week program that will teach the very basics of the sport of soccer in a fun and energetic way. The program is offered on two different nights, Tuesday and Thursday, and the participants will choose which night they will attend when they register. Parent participation in the program is highly encouraged! All participants will receive a T-shirt and soccer ball at the end of the program. Age Divisions: 1st-2nd Grade Boys and Girls Registration Deadline: September 30th **A $10 late fee will be applied to registrations starting Oct. 1st. Practices: Start the week of October 22nd - All practices will be held at either Turner Middle School or Berthoud Elementary School (Days and times are selected by volunteer coaches at coaches meeting) Games: Games will be played on Saturday mornings for six weeks, Nov. 3rd - Dec. 15th. All games will be played in Berthoud Turner Middle School in the auxiliary gym. Games will not be played over Thanksgiving weekend. Program Details: Berthoud Recreation is excited to offer a 3v3 half-court basketball league for boys and girls in grades 1st and 2nd. The league provides participants the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of basketball in a fun and safe environment while emphasizing small size games to ensure more chances for each kid to touch the basketball. Teams will practice up to two times per week with practice days and times being selected by the volunteer coach at the coaches meeting. Practices will be held at either Turner Middle School or Berthoud Elementary School. Parent volunteer coaches are needed for this program. Teams will play a 6 game season with games being played on Saturday mornings at Turner Middle School. Participants need to wear rubber soled shoes. All equipment, including a jersey, provided. Fee: Resident $50 Non-Resident $60 Age Divisions: 6U (5-6 year olds) & 8U (7-8 year olds) (Both Co-ed) (Days and times are selected by volunteer coaches at the coaches meeting) Coaches Meeting: August 7th at 5:30 PM at the Berthoud Town Hall Building Games: Games will be on Saturday mornings for six weeks, Sept. 8th - Oct. 13th. All 6U and 8U league games will be played at Pioneer Park in Berthoud. Program Details: Berthoud Recreation follows the US Youth Soccer Association small sided games format. By adopting the small sided games format, participants get the opportunity to have more touches with the ball, develop their fundamental skills, learn the rules of the game and play in a safe, fast paced environment while having fun. Teams will practice up to two times a week in the evenings and participate in a total of 6 games throughout the season. Practices are decided by the coaches after the teams are formed. Teams are selected by the recreation staff with the intent to keep the same number of boys and girls and ages on each team. All equipment is provided by the Town of Berthoud except cleats, shorts and shin guards. pg. 3 Ages: Youth and Adult class for students 5 years and older Registration Fee: Resident is $60; Non-Resident is $70 Activity Dates/Details: Days Dates Time Location Tuesday/Thursday Aug. 21st - Sept. 27th 6:30-7:30 PM Berthoud Elementary School Tuesday/Thursday Oct. 9th - Nov. 15th 6:30-7:30 PM Berthoud Elementary School Program Details: Start your journey learning the traditional Martial Art of Tang Soo Do that is highly recognized worldwide and is the modern version of the ancient martial art of Soo Bahk Do. Students will learn self defense, self discipline, self respect and most of all, respect for others. Tang Soo Do also helps students build self confidence with encouraged self development skills and goals. Students will learn a variety of martial art hand and foot techniques in combination with traditional forms (Hyungs) in a controlled environment by certified black belt instructors. There will be some travel to Milliken for games on Saturday s. All games in Berthoud will be played at Turner Middle School in the main and auxiliary gyms. All games in Milliken will be played at the Milliken Fieldhouse. Program Details: Berthoud Recreation and Thompson Rivers Parks and Recreation District have partnered up to offer youth volleyball league this fall. There are two divisions, 3rd/4th grade and 5th/6th grade and all teams will play a 6 game season. Teams will practice up to two times per week in the evenings in Berthoud and play games on Saturday s for six weeks. Games will be played in Berthoud and Milliken during the year so there will be some travel involved for games. Teams will be selected by volunteer coaches at the coaches meeting. There will be no selection assessment. During registration, parents and participants will answer questions in regards to skill level to aid in team formation. Participants must wear tennis shoes when playing and knee pads are optional, however participants are encouraged to wear them. All other equipment and a jersey will be provided by the Berthoud Parks and Recreation Department. Fee: Resident $50 Non-Resident $60 Age Divisions: 10U (9-10 year olds) & 12U (11-12 year olds) *Both Leagues Co-ed Practices: Begin the week of August 20th (Days and times are selected by volunteer coaches at the coaches meeting) Coaches Meeting: August 7th at 6 PM at the Berthoud Town Hall Building Games: Saturday s for six weeks, Sept. 8th - Oct. 13th. There will be some travel to Milliken & Windsor for games. All games in Berthoud are played at Bein Park. Program Details: The Berthoud Recreation Department has teamed up with the Thompson Rivers Parks and Recreation District and Windsor Recreation Department to form youth soccer leagues for kids ages 9 to 12. The leagues provide participants the opportunity to learn the basic fundamentals of soccer in a fun and safe environment while also having the opportunity to compete against other teams. Both leagues are Co-ed and will adopt the US Youth Soccer small-sided games format. Teams will practice up to two times a week in the evenings and participate in a total of 6 games throughout the season. There will be some travel required for games to Milliken and Windsor. Practices are decided by the coaches at the coaches meeting. There will be no selection assessment. During registration, parents and participants will answer questions in regards to skill level to aid in team formation. All equipment is provided by the Town of Berthoud except cleats, shin guards, and shorts. Fee: Resident $75 Non-Resident $85 Ages: Boys & Girls 13 & 14 year olds (7th-8th Grade) (Days and times are selected by volunteer coaches at the coaches meeting) Games: Saturday s and there will be travel involved to Fort Collins for games. All home games in Berthoud will be played at Bein Park. Program Details: The Berthoud Recreation is offering a 14U (7th/8th graders) boys and girls soccer team to play in the recreation soccer league through the Fort Collins Soccer Club. This league is geared towards kids who want to continue playing the game and build their soccer skill set but do not want to play at a competitive level yet. Teams will practice up to two times per week in Berthoud and will play games here in Berthoud and in Fort Collins. pg. 7 pg. 4

Kids will learn how to run, pass, catch and pull flags in a fun, exciting and active environment. All participants will receive a T-shirt and a football. Parent participation is encouraged!! **A $10 late fee will be applied to registrations starting Aug. 1st. Age Divisions: 8U (6-8 year olds) & 11U (9-11 year olds) (Days and times are selected by volunteer coaches) Games: Sept. 8th - Oct. 13th. Games will be played on Thursday nights and Saturday mornings. There will be some travel to Milliken for games on Saturday s in both leagues. All games played in Berthoud will be on the outfields of the Bein Baseball/Softball fields. All games played in Milliken will be at the Milliken Athletic Complex. Times: 9 AM on Saturday mornings; 5:30 PM on Thursday evenings Program Details: Berthoud Recreation and Thompson Rivers Parks and Recreation Department partners up in the fall to offer youth flag football for kids ages 6-11 years old. There is an 8U and 11U league and both play by NFL Flag Football rules. Teams will practice up to two times per week in the evenings in Berthoud and play games on Thursday nights and Saturday mornings for six weeks. Games will be played in Berthoud and Milliken during the year so there will be some travel involved for games. Teams in the 8U league are selected by the Parks and Recreation Department staff while teams in the 11U league are selected by coaches. There will be no selection assessment. During registration, parents and participants will answer questions in regards to skill level to aid in team formation. Participants can wear cleats or tennis shoes. Mouth Guards are REQUIRED to play. All other equipment will be provided by the Berthoud Parks and Recreation Department. pg. 5 **A $10 late fee will be applied to registrations starting Aug. 1st. Program Details: Berthoud Recreation is happy to offer a flag football program for kids in 6th grade that will play through the City of Fort Collins Flag Football League. Teams will practice up to two times per week in the evenings in Berthoud and play games on Saturday s for six weeks in Fort Collins. All games will be played in Fort Collins during the year so there will be travel involved for games. There will be no selection assessment. During registration, parents and participants will answer questions in regards to skill level to aid in team formation. Participants can wear cleats or tennis shoes. Mouth Guards are REQUIRED to play. All other equipment will be provided by the Berthoud Parks and Recreation Department. Date: Saturday, November 3rd Time: Registration begins at 1:30 P.M. First clue issued at 2 P.M. Location: Meet at Parks and Recreation office, 100 10th Street for the first clue. Event Details: The Berthoud Parks and Recreation Department is hosting a FREE treasure hunt that will take participants around town to explore all the parks the town has to offer. Participants will hunt clues placed around all the parks in town with prizes being awarded to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishers. Participants can partake in the event as a family, group of friends, or individuals but children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Groups may have up to 6 members. Participants may travel on foot, bicycle, or vehicle. All teams are entered to win a chance of raffle prizes. pg. 6
